Chapter 1-What to do?
I watched her quietly as she leaned against the doorway of our son's room. She sighed contently as she watched him sleep for a few moments. She had just finished reading to him and he had fallen asleep quickly.
I had just gotten home from another musical tour. I had been on the road for weeks. I missed my wife and son with everything that I was. But things had changed, I had to work almost continuously in an effort to keep food in their bellies and a roof over our heads. It was causing Luisita and I to fight more and more. I had promised Manolita when we were in Madrid that Luisita and I were ok and I genuinely wanted to keep that promise.
Don't get me wrong we are both feisty and passionate so we had our squabbles but these felt different. They were taking a toll. I know we had to make some changes but I just wasn't sure how or what. But I knew without a doubt in my mind that I was not willing to risk my family anymore.
I moved up quietly behind her and wrapped my arms around her, placing a delicate kiss on her cheek. "I love you." I whispered softly.
She melted into my embrace. "I love you, too." She said quietly.
"Let's go to bed huh?" I whispered, placing another soft kiss on her cheek.
She nodded her head yes, and we quietly made our way to our bedroom.
We silently got ready for bed, I snuggled in first and she got in turning to face me. She delicately traced her fingertips under my eyes. "You look exhausted."
"I am. This touring schedule has been brutal." I said honestly.
"But yet you still keep doing it." She said in a slightly frustrated tone.
"Yea, I've been thinking about that a lot lately." I said quietly.
She looked at me expectantly.
"I don't want to be away from you and Lino anymore." I said emotionally. "But I'm making a good income touring. And I want to be able provide for you. I don't know what else to do Luisita."
She sighed softly.
"I have an idea. It might be just what we need. Where you can keep preforming and we can still make a good income. But, it may require a bit of work." She said cautiously.
"I'm all for the work if it means getting to spend more time with my beautiful wife and son." I said softly, kissing the tip of her nose.
She smiled. "You're gonna think I'm crazy but I think it might just be what the two of us need."
"Luisita, you already know I think you're nuts but that's why I love you." I winked at her.
"Shut up, you!" She giggled. "But, you know when we all went back to Madrid before you went back on tour?"
I nodded my head yes.
"Well, I found out that Kings is for sale again. And I was thinking maybe we can make them an offer and move back to Madrid?"
I looked at her curiously for a minute.
"Do you think that would be the best move for us? For Lino? All his little friends are here." I said softly.
She sighed. "It would be an adjustment for sure. But Spain isn't the same as it was when we left. Homosexuality is legal now. Artificial insemination is also legal there now. So if we decide to have more kids we have that option. Plus we would have my family nearby and Lino is resilient and has your charm, so he will make new friends no problem."
I contemplated for a few more moments and then smiled at her. "I would not be opposed to this idea."
"Really?" She asked quietly?
"Really." I smiled at her.
"So you don't think I'm crazy or acting impulsively." She asked smiling.
"Luisita, we've already established yes to the crazy part. And if you were acting impulsively you would have already bought the bar. Wait? You didn't already buy the bar did you?" I asked cautiously.
"NO! Of course not! I mean well I thought about it. But that's a huge decision and it should involve both of us."
"We should have a talk with Lino too though to see how he feels." I said softly.
She smiled at me again. "I love how you include him in family decisions as much as you can."
I smiled gently at her running my fingers through her soft hair. "I love you both so very much. And all I have ever wanted was to make you happy." I said emotionally.
"I know. I'm sorry I've been such a pain in the ass lately. I have this tendency to lash out when I'm scared. I know I need to work on that." She said quietly.
"I hate fighting with you." I said quietly. "But I need you to know that I completely understand how you're feeling. I hate not being here with you. To help you cook and clean. To help take care of Lino. I hate not being able to tuck him in and kiss him good night. I hate falling asleep without you next to me. All of it is taking such an emotional toll on me and us and our little family. And we've been fighting so much and it's making me scared too."
"I know you get it. Honestly, I shouldn't put the whole burden on you. That's been unfair of me and I need to apologize for that. I know you're only trying to provide for us." She said quietly.
Once again I leaned over to place a gentle kiss on the tip of her nose. "Thank you for saying that. I needed to hear it. And I forgive you. Let's talk more about this kings venture tomorrow and then we can have a talk with Lino."
"Ok. She whispered, wrapping her arms around me and snuggling into my chest.
I kissed the top of her head gently and pulled her tighter against me. She was my everything. This whole venture about buying Kings was something that very much intrigued me.
"Amelia." she whispered quietly.
"Mmm?"
"How tired are you?" She asked a sudden raspiness appearing in her voice. Her hand trailing up my pajama top, feeling the skin of my abdomen.
I shivered, immediately knowing what she wanted. "Never too tired for that." I replied smirking at her.
She leaned up to kiss me and rolled over on top of me, straddling my hips.
"Mmmm, good, because makeup sex is hot."
I giggled as she leaned back down to kiss me.
