“You know… you look so sweet when you purr”
She had said it so fleetingly, the jester's hands were still caressing Jax’s fur.
He just quipped while still having his head resting on her chest and his arms wrapping around her.
“Shut up”
“Should I stop?”
He was silent for a few seconds and sighed.
“No, continue please…”
She smiled slightly and continued caressing him.
Since they started dating the two were not so affectionate, since this was something new for them. So they started with just small touching between their fingers and holding hands.
Although one would think that Jax would take the initiative more, that was not the case, the two clearly had no experience in romantic things, it was something new for them and even stranger in this digital world. They couldn't even remember what their love life was like outside of the circus or if they had one.
So many times Jax flirted with Pomni and the jester would only blush. And of course Pomni was not far behind since sometimes she also returned the flirts with some effort because flirting was not her strong suit compared to the rabbit.
And of course, although sometimes (many times) she failed epically, Jax liked that because he thought she looked very cute.
But when it came to giving physical affection it was another thing, they had improved a lot to the point that currently it is no longer so difficult for them. Only Pomni knew that sweet side that Jax had, when in the privacy of one of their rooms he would hug and give kisses all over her face.
Even though they had only been in a relationship for a few months, Jax had so many things to say to her.
For example, he loved the sound of her laughter, how her pupils turned into a heart shape, the way that a simple hug from the jester made him feel safe. How sometimes while she was sleeping he would caress her brown locks and think how lucky he was to have someone like Pomni by his side. Sometimes he felt like he didn't deserve her.
And Jax didn't like to admit it out loud but he loved when she made a gesture as simple as caressing him and the worst thing was that Pomni knew it.
Unfortunately, he not only looked like a rabbit but also had the gestures of one. His ears would be down when he felt vulnerable, or he would purr and wag his tail when he felt safe and happy.
Damn, why did it have to be a rabbit? He had complained about it on so many times but Pomni always told him that it made him look cute and loves him as he is. And this obviously made him feel more embarrassed. This girl really knew how to make him feel things.
“Pomni”
“Yeah?”
He's thankful she wasn't looking at his face right now as he had a small purple blush on the face.
He had thought a lot about saying these words a long time ago but just thinking about it made him feel nervous.
“It's just…”
“Everything okay Jax?”
“Yeah, yeah it is, it's just…”
Again Jax hated feeling this vulnerable, Pomni made him feel something he swore he would never feel in this digital hell. He fell in love with her and she made him feel loved. Pomni accepted him despite all his flaws.
“Hey… relax. Take your time”
Just saying that calmed him down a little, she's so understanding and so sweet. Again, what did he do to deserve her?
Finally he inhaled and exhaled deeply and moved so he could look into her eyes. He slowly approached to her face, they were so close now that both could feel each other's breathing.
Pomni was a little surprised at the sudden approach, but she didn't say anything, she just smiled at him and stroked his cheek fur.
Jax stood admiring her for a few seconds, she was really pretty, he felt really lucky to have her.
Maybe Jax wasn't good at romance but one thing he was sure and its that he love her so much.
“I love you Pomni”
Oh god, Pomni was surprised by those words, yes, they had been in a relationship for a few months but they had never said the word I love you to each other.
Pomni had wanted to say it for a while but she was afraid that he couldn't tell her the same thing, she didn't want to sound intense.
But now she had him at her side, looking at her with a look that made her melt inside. If her cheeks were already blushing at the beginning, by this point it must have been worse; Pomni wouldn't be surprised if at this moment her entire face took on the color of a tomato. And the pupils of her eyes had surely taken the shape of a heart.
But that didn't matter now, Jax loved her, and she loved him.
“I love you too Jax”
This made him smile genuinely and he didn't wait any longer to give her a tender kiss which she reciprocated.
They stayed like that for a few seconds until both separated and turned to look at each other only to laugh lightly.
“I love when your eyes do that”
He gently caressed her cheek and she blushed more.
“Shut up”
Jax laughed at her comment and pulled her closer to give her a small kiss on the forehead.
“Fine, I'll keep bothering you about it… later”
“And me with your rabbit gestures”
“Stop with that!”
Pomni just giggled and it didn't matter to Jax if she bothered him with that , he just thought she looked really cute.
“Let's go to sleep, shall we?”
“Sure, let's get some sleep”
And so again they returned to the initial position, Jax hugging her and Pomni stroking her fur.
Obviously he started purring again but neither of them said anything, they just remained silent until they fell asleep.
