“What I'm trying to say is…I don't want you here”
These words hurt Harley worse than any of the punches Joker had thrown at her all the years she was with him. Ivy not wanting her in her wedding and in extention her life broke her. She was doing everything in her power to protect her best friend's wedding who also happened to be the love of her life and she still managed to screw it up and the result was lose Ivy entirely.
So she ran off. No looking back, failing to stop her tears from falling down as she did so, just left. After all, she runs from one thing to another, that's what she always did even before she became Harley Quinn.
Ivy was right to choose Kite Man over her, he may be a dork and not the brightest man around but he was stable, he knew what he wanted and despite knowing what she and Ivy did at the bachelorette party he still wanted to marry Ivy. He was loyal and was perfect to settle down . Harley, on the other hand, was not. She was a moving chaos.
Everywhere she went she caused pain and destruction. Is it so hard for me to be happy? To be loved? She thought as she exited the Corn Factory.
She was so focused in her own thoughts that she didn't notice the gas bomb in her legs until it was to late…
And everything went black before she could actually react.
“We have her boss” A mysterious voice said
“I-I don't want you here” Ivy said and saying those words out loud broke her, she closed her eyes and looked down not wanting to face Harley because she knew if she saw how heartbroken she was as she was running, she'd go after her.
Truth is, Ivy loved Harley Quinn way more than she did Kite Man, heck she probably loved Harley more than she did herself. And that love for the jester had started way before the bachelorette. When she was just a prisoner at Arkham and Harley was Harleen Quinzel the young psychiatrist who was the only person to ever give her a gift, not just any gift, a plant , her freedom. Not just that she was the only one who had made her feel valued when she thought no one would care if she was gone.
Gosh, Ivy hated herself. She had kicked out of her life the ONE person who was always there, sure Harley was a chaotic firecracker who could blow up everything and everyone around her at any minute but she was HER chaotic firecracker.
Ivy wasn't blind, she heard Harley's cries as she exited the room, she knew she had broken the girl’s heart probably more than the Joker ever did and she was angry , angry at herself for kicking the most important person of her life out of it.
But, she had a wedding to continue, no matter how her heart ached to go after the love of her life , she had chosen Kiteman , idiot but sweet Kiteman. She knew deep down there was someone else she wanted to walk the aisle for but she was scared to face the truth and went for the safe option.
She sighed, I'm sorry Harls she said to herself, she'd go after her once the wedding was over and would try to patch their friendship up.
What were you thinking to trust Two-Face of all people she was thinking as she was facing Kiteman who was saying his wedding vows.
It didn't take long for Ivy to realize what a huge mistake she was making by choosing him. Kiteman wanted 4 kids, she didn't want any, not with him at least. So when her turn to say her vows came up, she froze, she didn't know them by heart like he did because of all the chaos that has been going on she struggled with something as simple as wedding vows.
But, thankfully she was not able to complete them. Turns out Gordon was indeed the priest just like Harley had warned her, heck the whole wedding was filled with GCPD officers and worse, plastic plants. Ivy couldn't even fight back.
Ivy was knocked out by a gas that she somehow was not immune to with only one thought in mind: Harley
was just trying to save the wedding all along.
