Work Text:

You laid atop the roof of the UA dorms. The air was cold. It burnt your throat when you breathed but it was okay.

You didn’t know what you were doing there. Maybe you wanted to see the stars.

Too bad they weren’t out tonight.

You stared up at the dark sky filled with clouds. There was something that your parents always told you— “you’re on your own, kid.” And maybe it was true.

Lying there, you felt nothing but the cold winter air and the suffocating loneliness. Nobody was there but you.

There was nothing stopping you.

I mean, if you decided to jump, who would stop you? Who could? Who would even try? Because you know that everyone knows how miserable you are. They can see it in your eyes. They can see it when you fall asleep in class because you were too busy crying to sleep. Even Bakugou noticed.

‘The fuck is up with you?’ He had asked. You didn’t reply. ‘You look like shit.’ He spoke once again. ‘Maybe because I feel like shit.’ And for the first time— he stopped talking. He didn’t reply at all. And that was the end of that.

Subconsciously, you rose to your feet, stepping closer to the edge. Your cat pajamas ruffled in the wind. Your hands were numb and all you could hear was the wind and the faint sound of cars in the distance.

‘Should I do this?’

You thought, but only for a brief moment before disregarding the thought.

‘Of course I should. If I die, I die. If I live, I live.’

‘If it’s meant to be— then it will be.’

And with that, you took a step closer to the edge. And then another, and another, and another—

Then you were falling.

(if only you heard their pleas in time.)

Notes:

lmk if i should make a few diff endings to this!
