Fic inspired by art! (Image in notes)

Set sometime early-ish in the midddle of my other fic 'Dog Daze' this little moment shows us How Adrien & Sabrina's particular friendship (They're just friends and study buddies... honest...) plays out. They have fun, they relax with each other, they enjoy sharing hobbies... and maybe they make out a little. Friends do that, right?

Work Text:

Adrien watched from his door as Sabrina walked through the Atrium. Nathlie was walking down the main stairway, undoubtedly heading to his father’s atelier, this meant a double threat. Sabrina’s pace was slow and deliberate, with just a little hunch to her shoulders. It was exactly the right level of humility that would be expected from a study partner for the Adrien Agreste.

Nathalie barely glanced her way as they passed, but Adrien remained alert and was proven right. Nathalie’s head jerked towards his doorway and Adrien quickly closed off the crack he had peeked through. All Nathalie would see was an indifferent rectangle. He waited, hand still on the handle, counting seconds.

Knock… Knock. Two, spaced apart like that… Adrien counted to ten, enough time for a disinterested boy to cross his room, then opened the door slowly with his shoulders back and expression pleasantly neutral.

Sabrina stood primly. Behind her, over the railing, Adrien could just make out Nathalie still waiting outside his father’s atelier.

“Sabrina, is it that time already? My apologies for not greeting you.”

She adjusted her bag, her voice every bit as neutral, though pitched a little too loudly, “It’s okay Adrien. We have that World Studies test coming up, so I think we should put in extra time studying.”

“Of course. Won’t you come in?”

He sidestepped and she entered his room in three neat steps. Adrien closed the door, half-turned the lock(oh sorry Nathalie, it must have stuck), and grinned to himself as he tensed to indulge a mischievous thought.

His ‘cat’s pounce’ was cut off even before it began though. Even as he turned he was slammed into from behind. Arms snaked around his waist, and Adrien was lifted -barely- off his feet. Sabrina staggered under his weight, but was awash with giggles. “Gotchuu!”

Adrien squirmed, twisting in her grip, not trying to escape but making sure he was ready when…

She lost her balance and started to fall. The moment his feet touched the floor he ducked into a crouch, catching her awkwardly but successfully. She blinked at him, glasses askew.

Adrien gave her a superior grin and leaned in to bump noses. “Gotchuu.”

She pinked, and his heart did a little dance in his chest. Instead of flailing away though, she curled in comfily against his chest. “K. I’m got.”

A sigh of contentment slipped from his lips. He managed to lower himself to a seated position without disturbing her, “Father will never approve of my new life as a dog catcher.”

She slid down until her head rested in his lap, then opened one eye, peering up at him. “I’m a service dog, he can’t complain.”

A familiar urge overcame him, and Adrien ran a hand back from her brow through her orange bob; slow steady strokes that made her eye close slowly again. Adrien mused, “You’re definitely emotional support.”

Soft ‘heehees’ rose up from her, but the way he felt her relaxing against him was a warning.

“Sabs, we’re still by the door. We at least need the couch as a barrier…”

She growled lightly in protest, but sat up rubbing her eyes and fixing her glasses. “You’re right… you’re right. Can’t let the cookies go to waste.”

“Cookies?” Adrien perked.

“Cookies!” She affirmed, digging in her discarded bag and coming out with a large ziplock full of chocolate chip cookies and a plastic plate. She pushed herself to her feet and walked to his desk to sort them out.

Adrien’s mouth watered. Sweets were a rare occurrence in his life, and they tended to come in ones and twos when they did. That clear bag of misshapen baked goods was a bounty beyond reason. He pawed for the bag, resulting in a little scuffle as she tried to hold it just out of range, going up on her tiptoes. It was all in vain against his longer reach, but he made a show of ‘failing’ to get them, lamenting, “Is this any way to treat your friends?”

She held the bag to her chest, snickering. When he relented she took it out and opened it. “Just remember it’s only my third batch. I’m no fancy bakery. I left some on the sheet tray too long and the bottoms are a bit dark. I’ll eat those. Just let me fish ‘em..”

She came up with one, turning it to reveal the over done underside. She gave him an apologetic smile that turned into an‘‘eep!’ when Adrien leaned down and chomped half of it out of her hand in a single bite.

She blinked at her truncated confection, then pouted and pushed playfully at his grinning face with one hand. “Bad kitty! Go get the show setup and let me hide my shame.”

Adrien kept his smug little smile in place as he walked over to the TV to queue up the evening’s entertainment. Anime counted as World Studies… if you squinted really hard.

He called over as he navigated menus. “Couch?”

She chirped back in surprise, “Couch?”

Adrien corrected, “Floor.”

 “Floor,” she affirmed.

Adrien scooted his couch backwards slowly, to avoid making too much noise dragging it over the floor in his cavernous room. He finished and turned back to the TV just in time for a blanket to flump over his head. Another, and another piled on top in rapid success to the melody of more little ‘hees’. Light flooded in as one side was lifted and Sabrina joined him in the cotton enclosure.

Soft filtered light barely highlighted her bright-eyed smile as she held up the neatly stacked plate between them. “Beatcha.”

Adrien raised his arms to hold up the blanket-tent and dipped his head to steal another cookie with his teeth. “Ffit d’n, ffilly.”

She plopped herself down, tucked some blanket under herself, settled the plate out the TV side, then sprawled over onto her stomach facing it. Adrien gave the blankets one last lift then dove down onto his stomach beside her, both their heads poking out. Propped up on her elbows, she scooted the plate between them. Adrien hit play.

Opening credits rolled, and as they did she picked up a cookie, turning it in her hands before nibbling around the outer edge. “We’re never gonna get through One Piece if we try to watch all of this you know.”

Adrien finished his cookie off in two bites, reaching for another. “We don’t have to. We can skip every ‘Ninjas running’ episode.”

She giggled, “So half?”

“Close. I haven’t even watched all of Shippuden either.”

She turned her cookies a few more times without taking a bite. “There’s a couple I like in it…”

“Oh? Which?”

She turned her cookie once more then instead of answering thrust it at his mouth. Adrien dutifully chomped and while he was chewing she looked back at the screen. “So, Naruto or Sasuke?”

Adrien hmphed, “as if that's even close...”

Episodes played and cookies vanished. Their blanket-nest turned cozy and warm. Adrien pillowed his head on his arms. He was in real danger of a doze when he noticed Sabrina perk. He lifted his eyes to the screen again. Of Course…

Adrien leaned to the side, bumping his head up under her chin. “You’re a Hinata fan, aren’t you?”

Her hand had gone to his hair as soon as he leaned in, fingers slipping aimlessly through. She froze at his question though, just briefly, before admitting, “She’s kinda one of my favorites…”

Adrien hmmmed, tilting his head into her hand so the petting resumed. “Naruhina shipper too I bet.”

The petting didn’t stop this time, though her voice was small. “I just… think it’s cute.”

Adrien tilted his head back to look up at her from the odd angle, then reached up, cupping her cheek gently with a hand. He could feel the heat of embarrassment under his fingertips. “Hey… I think it’s pretty neat too.”

She looks down, fingers pausing, petting, pausing. She bit her bottom lip. Her magnified eyes looked at him, away, at him, and away again. They finally came back just as he was opening his mouth to try and help reassure her again.

She mumbled softly, “We’re missing the show…”

He felt her weight lean in against him though, a reassuring pressure even as she warred with her embarrassment. The number of times she’d helped him past his own embarrassment made him want to help in turn.

Adrien bumped his head up against her chin again. “I’m a ninja you know.”

It earned him a snort. “Vicious ninjakitty.”

She pressed her chin down against the top of his head though, and shifted her hand to the other side of him, half laying atop him in their little cocoon now.

“Get out of my secret pinning technique then.”

It was a real struggle. Not physically, but the lure of just collapsing into a snuggy furpile was strong.

Adrien grunted, strained, and made a show of lifting them both a few inches higher before collapsing back. He counted. One… two… three…

“Kage-tickle-no-jutsu!” He spun under her and his fingers sped up and down her sides.

Sabrina squealed and curled up into a giggly ball on his chest. That just got her legs into range. Behind the knee, along the collar bone, over the hip, back of the thigh, all were fair game and well known weak points. She rolled off him in self defense and he pursued. He stopped only when she was sprawled beneath him, a panting shivery mass with a healthy flush that had no embarrassment about it.

Adrien was breathless himself, “See? I told you, Ninja. I can escape anything.”

He’d expected another round of giggles. Instead those aqua eyes all but glowed up at him through her glasses. “I’ll just have to unlock the second gate.”

Her hands shot up and cupped his face. Her teeth grazed his jawline as she planted a line of kiss-nips that trailed up his neck, waking up every single nerve in his body. They culminated in a kiss as soft as the nibbles were sharp, a gentle undemanding thing that turned all the fire into a comfortable heat in his veins. When she drew back Adrien followed her down, prolonging the kiss seconds more.

Now came the bubbly giggle, “So, did I win?”

Adrien let his weight settle, he had little say in the matter. Movement wasn’t an option. His nose was buried against her bob when he answered. “You beat me, but I think I won.”

Another impish giggle. Her arms slipped around him in a comfy hug. They laid together for long enough that credits rolled, both beginning and end, before slipping apart at some unspoken sign.

They restored their nest. Sabrina passed him a cookie, another held in her mouth. Adrien took a bite of the second sweetest thing he’d had tonight. “What did we miss?”
