Chapter Text
"I don't want to sleep with you anymore!" Haejoon shouted louder than he wanted to.
Juwan whined while hanging off of Haejoon's arm. He was stopping him from going into his own room. "Why?! I promise it won't get weird! You can just sleep on the top bunk!"
"Or I'll just sleep in my room! Jeez get off of me!" he shoved Juwan off, making sure not to push too harshly but enough where he got the message to back off.
This was the second time they were having this conversation. Before he outright admitted what made him so uncomfortable to sleep in his bed. And he would rather not go through another night of... that. It was bad enough that Eunyung took a video of him saying something completely out of context, that bastard.
Juwan looked heartbroken as he pleaded, "I don't want to sleep alone! It's scary in the house at night!"
Haejoon looked into his eyes, after all, he didn't want to sleep alone either after seeing that thing night after night. But then his thoughts went back to how he was felt up by Jwans night time groping.
"...No..." He said firmly.
"No, why!! Pleease!" Juwan continued to beg while grabbing his sleeve and tugging the fabric left and right.
Eunyung was passing by in his pajamas, headed to his room. "He probably will never sleep with you again if you act like a needy bitch." He commented nonchalantly. He could hear Juwan down the hall and even he was starting to get fed up with his whining.
"Hey! Shut up, who asked you!" Juwan said defensively as Haejoon took the opportunity to yank his sleeve away from Juwan.
"I'm just saying, he probably doesn't want to get felt up at night anymore you perv. Just stop being a baby and sleep alone." he said back easily.
Juwan fully turned to face Eunyung, "Not all of us can sleep alone in such a creepy house! He's the one that asked me first anyways, so he clearly doesn't want to sleep alone either!"
"Wow~ I guess that just makes you creepier than the house then." he smiled as he usually does when he’s being an asshole and Juwan looked affronted.
"It's not like that!... he just! I- I promised it wouldn't be weird anymore! Besides, he didn't even try to sleep with you! What does that make you huh?" He pointed accusingly at Eunyung.
There was a beat of silence, tension rising in the hallway as the question hung in the air. Haejoon just really wanted to go to bed at this point.
"Haejoon do you want to sleep in my room tonight?" Eunyung asked him.
Juwan stared in shock and was even more surprised when Haejoon shrugged his shoulders and said "Sure"
They both walked towards Eunyung's room as Juwan stood there stunned.
"Wait! Guys!!" he called after them but they just ignored him and shut the door.
They could hear him still pleading behind the door but they both just ignored it till he stopped.
Alone in the room with Eunyung, Haejoon surveyed the place and saw all the trash littered on the floor and the unkempt bed.
'Ah... this was why' Haejoon thought as he held back a sigh so he wouldn't make Eunyung mad. He's pretty sure that Jwan's question struck a chord with him somehow which is why he asked him to stay in his room to begin with. He wouldn't want to set him off. The main reason why he said yes was so they would both stop arguing and go to bed. Maybe also because he still didn't want to sleep alone.
He had other reasons for not bugging Eunyung about this before. It felt like their relationship just wasn't casual enough to ask something like this, and maybe he just didn't want to be looked down on by him either. Haejoon was almost 100% positive he would have made fun of him and said no if he asked so he didn't even try before. It just seemed like an all around bad idea, so even he was a bit surprised that he just asked him like that.
He looked at the bed and then started to make his way to the ladder.
"I guess I'll take the top bunk," he said to Eunyung.
"Nah, I don't want to wake up in the middle of the night if you change your mind. I know you can't sleep lately so just sleep on the bottom with me." Eunyung said it like there was no room to argue. On a normal day, he'd argue anyway but he was just so tired lately he just nodded. He was so exhausted and the dark circles under his eyes showed more and more as the days went on.
Eunyung turned off the lights and laid down on the bed first then scooted back so his back was against the wall. He looked at Haejoon expectantly as he hesitated. Looking at the empty spot, Haejoon couldn’t shake the awkward feeling he got. It felt weird to be invited into Eunyung’s bed for many reasons. He didn’t want to make things even weirder though so he pushed those feelings to the side and laid down next to him, facing away.
For some reason his heart was racing and he couldn’t place exactly why. There was a nagging anxiety that was prickling at his back, right where Eunyung was probably trying to sleep. But it wasn’t the fear or dread he’d feel from the ghosts, no this was the feeling he got only around Eunyung. Honestly he never noticed it until now, but the more he thinks about it he realizes that he always feels this way when Eunyung gets too close to him.
It rarely happens, if at all, they’re always at odds with each other so they just keep their distance and the times they’ve been close it was to fight. Haejoon honestly doesn’t know what to do with this information and would rather not think too hard about it. The fatigue from before shows up again and sits heavy in his eyes as they close. His heart rate is finally evening out and the last thought before he falls asleep is about washing the sheets because they smell like Eunyung, it was oddly nice though.
Morning comes and Eunyung is the first to groggily wake up. He silences his phone, which he switched to a vibrate alarm thanks to his new bed mate. Somehow in his sleep he flipped over to the other side facing the wall so he rolled back over. He was met with Haejoons face, much closer than he was expecting, which woke him up immediately. He felt warmth come to his face and he slowly sat up so he didn't wake his new bedmate up. But from the looks of it, it would take a lot to do that, Haejoon looked objectively dead to the world. He was flipped over on his back with his head leaning towards him. He’d never seen him so relaxed before, granted he’d never seen him really sleep but it’s a relief to see after seeing how tired he was lately. Seeing him rest so peacefully in his bed gave him a since of vindication as well. It was just another thing he could rub in Juwans face for saying something so stupid to him the other day. He felt his heart beat faster as he stared at Haejoon being so peaceful beside him and in his bed of all places but he quickly shoved those thoughts to the side.
He stopped that line of thinking in tracks, it was soured by how Haejoon would probably never see him in a better light. He’d always treat him like he always does, like a bother. Eunyung figured out a while ago why that always bothered him so much. He never cared how other people see him, so why does Haejoons opinion matter so much? Once he realized he probably has feelings for him he’s been suppressing that ever since. It was obvious to him that Haejoon would never feel the same. But here he was, inviting Haejoon into his bed and waking up to his stupid handsome face not even 3 inches away. He felt like such an idiot, and even more so once he realized he zoned out while watching Haejoons sleeping face again.
He snapped himself out of it and then cursed himself out in his head for not thinking ahead last night. He should’ve slept on the outside instead of Haejoon cause he gets up earlier, now he has to crawl over him and pray he doesn’t wake up.
Before he could even do that though, something caught his eye. Eunyung’s eyes went wide and his face went red hot. Haejoon was hard. He tried not to panic internally when his unrequited crush was literally sleeping with a hard on right next to him. He rationalized it in his head that this was totally natural for adolescent boys to have this happen. He stamped down that little flicker of hope that bubbled up in his stomach. It’s not because of him, why would it be? Haejoon thinks he’s trash. It’s just because he’s a teenage boy.
He never wanted to get out of a room as much as he does now. So he slowly goes to get over Haejoon, treating his body like lava and he’d burn to death if he touched him. Hover-straddling him right now was sending his brain into a tailspin but he kept his goal in mind, trying to get out of there as soon as possible. He was halfway across until he heard something that made him freeze.
“...unyung…”
At first he thought Haejoon woke up, but once he noticed he was fast asleep his brain went on another tailspin. He just moaned his name while he was sleeping. Before he could fall, he finished getting to the other side, grabbed his clothes and immediately went outside the door, making sure to close it softly despite the alarm bells going off in his head.
