Chapter Text
His body moves to the rythm of music. It's loud and hot in the club. The colors of the lights change with every beats.
Kuroo can't hear his own breath. Not that he cares. He's dancing, dancing, dancing. He's sweating a lot but it feels good. He doesn't care if he's tired. Today is his day. He's celebrating. After 7 years of studies he gratuated as honor student, with the best marks and the best recommandations. Which opened him the doors of the Tsukishima company,
The one company he always wanted to join because of their research program. And today, after a week of sickness waiting for the final decision of interviews, he received the answer. He's in. He got the job. Next monday, he'll step in the giant T tower and start a new life.
See, this is a reason to celebrate. He's on the dancefloor since he enter the club, only leaving to get wasted with his best boys (Bokuto, Akaashi, Yaku and Kai). Kenma refused to come. Kuroo doesn't hold it against him. He knows Kenma would hate the place. He's more a home cat than a street cat. Kuroo will take him to lunch another day.
Bokuto and Yaku are completely and positively smashed. They follow him on the dancefloor but never stay too far from their tables (Bokuto because he doesn't want people to hit on Akaashi and Yaku because he couldn't move his body even if it was for survival). Kuroo allows people he doesn't know to dance with him too. He danced with two girls earlier, and now its a blond beauty. He actually left the girls the minute he saw the silhouette of the man. He was alone on the dancefloor and the minute his eyes met Kuroo's, it was only them in the club.
Now, their bodies are like glued together. The blond keeps moving his hips and ass against Kuroo's front, occasionaly turning to tug at his nape and steal a kiss. Kuroo doesn't mind. How could he? The blond is gorgeous. His eyes are made of gold and his lips are drawn so elegantly. He's Kuroo's height, making them the perfect pair of tall people in the club. Similar but opposite dancing together.
The more the night goes by, the more their movements become intimate. Until Kuroo pulls his partner off the dancefloor and whispers against his ear.
"You better." The blond answers to his question. Kuroo grins and on his way out, waves at Akaashi to let him know not to wait for him.
They go to Kuroo's place, because he doesn't mind. Outside, the night is surprisingly silent. Suddenly with all the music gone, the blond's voice is the best sound into Kuroo's ears. Blinded by their excitement, they haven't even stepped in Kuroo's hall that they're already eating each others face. Hungry hands unbutonning their pants, tearing their shirts away, and without realizing, they're fucking like animals on Kuroo's couch, only two meters away from his bed. For round 2, they do go on the bed though. In the morning, Kuroo distantly hears the front door close, but he doesn't pay no mind to it and falls back asleep immediately.
The blond's face still remain extremely vivid in his memory. He was really a piece of art he thinks.
Next monday comes quick enough that he forgets the blond. Only for some times. Because the moment he sees him enters the meeting room where the newbies are gathered, Kuroo feels cold sweat and anxiety replace his happy mood.
The man is introduced as Tsukishima Kei, the head of the research department and also co-ceo of the society. If Kuroo has never seen his face before it's because the man was absent from the interviews and very private, meaning there's no pictures of him the internet.
Tsukishima bows slightly and scans the room. Kuroo feels his mouth drying up. Their eyes meet and it's the weirdest and longest minute Kuroo has ever lived. Of course, Tsukishima recognises him. Behind the fancy pair of glasses he wears (he hadn't one at the club), his eyes grow wider. His secretary murmurs something to him that bring him back to present. He goes to his seat without another glance at Kuroo and the latter tries to breath. OK, what worse could happen? Being fired? Day 1? Yeah that would suck. But maybe he'll be ignored. Maybe Tsukishima won't acknowledge him.
That'd be disappointing, considering the good sex they had. Kuroo doesn't want to lose his dream job on an impulsive move though and he would be happier if nothing of their encounter at the club and what followed could be addressed.
He doesn't really listen the welcoming speech the director of the team, Kiyoko Shimizu, gives them. Until she introduces Tsukishima. The blond stands to take the lead and Kuroo is screaming internally. He still dreams of this voice and the whimpers, the pleas for release and the screams of pleasure. But once he's done, Tsukishima excuses himself and leaves. He doesn't look at him on his way out.
That's surely disappointing. The worst is to come.
All day long, Kuroo lives with a ball of anxiety settled comfortably in his stomach. He plays it relaxed and acts normally around his new colleagues though. Can't let them know he's nervous because he's fucked the boss. At noon when he comes back to the office with a sandwich he's almost ready to be stopped by a security guard, or having his pass not working. But there's no problem and he finds himself eating with his team normally. The afternoon passes, still no sign of Tsukishima's order to fire him coming. Around 5, Kuroo spots his secretary down the corridor but the man looks busy and pays him no attention.
OK, so Tsukishima decided to ignore him and play it like nothing happened. Kuroo pushes away his disappointment and instead welcomes the relief as an new friend. Better to be ignored than thrown out.
He thought too quick. At 8, his team is gathering in front of the elevator. They're planning to go to a bar to get to know each other. Kuroo is not thinking of Tsukishima right now. Then Kiyoko joins them and before they pilled themselves in the elevator, she turns towards him.
"Kuroo-san, you're being requested by Tsukishima-san. He's waiting in his office"
Anxiety kicks the relief hard and fast. Kuroo ignores his colleagues curious staring. With a mental chain around his neck, he forces a smile and takes a different elevator to go in the upper floors.
When the doors open he enters in a simple hall. On the opposite of the elevator, a door is wide open, to the secretary's office. The man is quite young, skin covered in freckles. He offers a smile to Kuroo and stands to welcome him.
"Kuroo-san?" He asks.
Kuroo bows.
"Tsukishima-san will receive you in an instant. Have a seat."
Kuroo nods ans obeys, taking place in one of the comfortable Chesterfield chairs siding the wall. The secretary keeps working in silence, then stands and leaves Kuroo alone to go in the break room behind his desk.
He comes back with a cup of tea he offers to Kuroo.
"Thank you," the raven says, standing and bowing out of reflex. The secretary smiles and goes back to his work. Maybe half an hour later, Kuroo still hasnt touch the tea when a buzzing makes him jumps in his seat. It's Tsukishima ordering his secretary to bring Kuroo in.
"This way." Kuroo is instructed.
He's walking on autopilot. Limbs as stiff as a dead, he goes where he has to.
Tsukishima's office is simple. There's a giant piece of wooden furniture covering one of the walls, probably for storage. On the opposite side, behind glasses wall is set up a private room for meeting. Tsukishima is sitting at his desk, in one corner of the room.
"Thank you Yamaguchi. We won't need anything." Tsukishima says, still signing some documents.
The secretary, Yamaguchi, leaves politely. Once the door closed behind him, Kuroo feels his nervosity mix with his excitement to see Tsukishima again. Tsukishima put down his pen and looks up. There's a lingering silence, during which they only stare at each other. Then Tsukishima rises from his seat and comes to lean against his desk in front of Kuroo.
"What are you planning to do?" Is the blond's first question.
"I beg you pardon?"
"Don't try to play. If you're going to blackmail me, I'll be clear, I'll take you down."
Kuroo blinks multiples times, completely struck by the threat.
"Don't play dumb," Tsukishima keeps going. "You came at me that night and we slept together at your place. You surely prepared your move and have compromising pictures. I'll be clear. You won't have any sort of favors in the society and I won't pay for them. Instead, I'll make sure to turn your life into hell if you don't delete them."
Kuroo raises both hands in front him in haste. "Wait Tsukishima-san,I-! There's a mistake." He tries to temper. "I'm not blackmailing you."
Tsukishima squints his eyes suspiciously. Kuroo keeps talking, horrified that his boss has such a terrible idea of him.
"I didn't know who you were. I was as surprise as you this morning I swear."
Tsukishima makes a face, one that says he's not really convinced but he's also annoyed by the situation if it's true.
"I've waited to be fired all day," Kuroo keeps saying. "And I was scared cause this job means everything to me."
This confession brings a sparks of interest in Tsukishima’s eyes.
"Look, I won't say anything to anyone. The hot blond at the club could be someone else. I mean he didn't have cute glasses and it was dark. And the alcohol factor-"
He bites his lower lips upon realizing his said hot and cute in the same sentence about his boss. Said boss is staring at him coldly.
"We never met," he finally agrees. "You came here as a random choice to pass my greetings to the new employees of the research team."
Kuroo hastily nods vividly, far too happy to keep his job.
Tsukishima sends him off without another comment.
Kuroo goes to the bar afterwards and drinks and talks with his new colleagues. He drinks his emotions to think aout everything but Tsukishima. On his way home though, he's fighting mixed feelings. He's relieved and lost, content and also disappointed. Which is weird, cause he shouldn't. He's not being fired, he's not blackmailed by his boss who'd rather want to forget what could be an embarrassing topic.
But how is he going to forget when he has to see the man every day? When he feels hot each time he opens his pretty mouth? How to fight the need to touch him when he's in the same elevator? When his crazy hair look so soft he doesn't listen the meeting when he does a presentation. How really, when he is not only good looking but also smart and interesting?
Tsukishima does ask himself all this multiple times a day. Kuroo was a one night stand, someone he had no intention to see again.+
And yet, life has decided otherwise. Tsukishima is maybe a little bit thanksfull for it, but it's not professional to wish for one of your employee to bang you, kiss you, hug you, murmurs sweet nothing to you, hold your hands, takes you out for dinner...
Wait. That's what date does.
Does he want to date Kuroo? Tsukishima realizes what was once a physical attraction is now utter and complete liking. Kuroo be damned. All Tsukishima can hope for is to not let it be seen.
The problem is that, Kuroo is smart. He quickly becomes central to the department running, forcing Tsukishima to have multiples meetings a week with him.
To his great misfortune, Tsukishima notices that he's not the only one who's smitten.
It takes them a month or two before they throw away their careful behavior and jump on each other again.
It's actually Tsukishima who breaks first.
They're in a meeting, Kuroo is doing a presentation but he keeps giving Tsukishima looks. It was annoying the first times. Now? Tsukishima longs for these stolen glances. His heart starts racing when Kuroo's eyes meet his. His cheeks grow hot and he's suddenly all too focused on the engineer's lips. He knows their taste. He wants to have them again.
His attention is taken away by the low buzzing of his phone.
He discreetly checks his messages and frowns.
Eyes on the boards Tsukki
There's only one person to talk to him like this. He throw an sidelook to his left and indeed, Yamaguchi is sitting with a mocking look. Another text follows.
You're drooling.
Tsukishima groans and places his phone down the table a little too forcefully. That make the other people raise their eyebrows, but it's not enough to unsettle Kuroo who keeps talking, unbothered. Soon after, he's finished and Kiyoko is the first to talk. As she thanks him and comments the presentation and the results, Tsukishima sees Kuroo glances in his direction. The ceo is burning with the forbidden desire to grab Kuroo's colar here and there, and kiss the daylight out of him. Of course, he refrains himself.
Other people speak, then it's Tsukishima who says a few words and finally the meeting is over.
"Kuroo-san, would you be so kind and stay if you don't have another appointment?" Yamaguchi requests while everyone stands to leave. The raven nods while gathering his papers. Meanwhile Tsukishima gives his secretary a long interogating look. Said secretary just smirks, takes his stuff and exit the meeting room without a word.
Tsukishima is so stunned he doesn't even acknowledge Kuroo for a minute. It's only when the man clears his throat that he turns to him. There's a long awkward moment during which neither of them talk. They're now alone in the meeting room beside Tsukishima's office.
"What can I do for you?" Kuroo finally asks.
He looks relaxed but Tsukishima notices the tension in his shoulders.
"Fuck."
Tsukishima doesn't realize he's cursed out loud. Before Kuroo can ask anything, he's on him, grabbing his collar as planned and crushing their lips together.
Kuroo welcomes him with an equal eagerness. He immediately opens his mouth, meeting the blond's expectations. It's a dance, like their first meeting, cadenced by their hearts, their need to bring the other closer, the pure relief to finally, finally breath the same air.
They kiss, they kiss, they kiss.
Tsukishima stops first but he hastily settle his forehead against Kuroo's cheek. The man smells so good, his cologne should be illegal.
"Good talk, Tsukishima-san." Kuroo grins.
The blond pouts and thank god it's hidden by his position. Kuroo wouldn't let him live with it.
"Shut up or I'm firing you."
"That'd be an abuse of power sir." Kuroo chuckles.
The blond leans back a little, keeping Kuroo in his hold with his 2 hands around his neck. Kuroo is holding him by the hips and it feels right. It's also a firm hold despite his casual expression. Tsukishima loves it.
"Now, that's an idea Tetsurou." he tugs at Kuroo's tie with a bratty grin. "Good brainstorming."
The red of Kuroo's ears betrays his sudden embarrassment.
"What are you going to to do me, Tsukishima-san?"
"I have a few ideas..." the blond admits, his grin mirroring Kuroo's insolence.
He invites him in another kiss that last longer than the previous one, eating their breath, full of hunger. Then without stepping back Kuroo is murmuring against Tsukishima's lips. "Call me anytime for more ideas."
He adds. "Kei."
And that's the final straw. Yamaguchi is forced to cancel the 3 other appointements of Tsukishima's day.
As well as his dinner with his brother.
Little by little, Kuroo's name starts to appear on the schedule pages.
Not for professional appointements though.
