Work Text:
"I don't need your fucking help Joel. " Those words stung. Joel hated hearing those words more than anything. They felt worse than getting shot or getting stabbed in his gut.
God. He fucking hated the world now. He completed his mission long ago, but he feels as though it became his mission to watch over her. He cared for Ellie so much.
He loves the jokes she makes.
How her aburn hair glows in the sun.
How she stays positive.
How she reminds him of Sarah in the best ways possible.
"I'm-"
"No. Leave Joel before you make this any harder. "
It felt like loosing the other half of himself. Just like he lost Tess... Sarah. It's gut wrenching to feel useless. Joel's felt it a lot in his life, but right now it seems more significant than usual.
Joel will always forgive Ellie because he cares so much for her. Like when he punched Seth, taught her guitar, and traveled across the country for her. His whole life he thought his purpose was meant to be Sarah, but that got taken away from him. And he gained something back from that. Another daughter.
Joel cares for Ellie very much. He will continue too till he dies. "I'm sorry if I caused any trouble Ellie.. I'll go. "
----
"NO PLEASE, JOEL, PLEASE STOP. "
"GET THE FUCK UP JOEL! " All he could hear was Ellie screaming and he wanted to get up for her, but he was just so tired.
This was him getting karma for all the lives he had taken. He doesn't feel pitty for any he killed. They all deserved it in the end.
But just as they had gotten, it's his death sentence today. "JOEL, NO PLEASE. LEAVE HIM ALONE, PLEASE. "
"NO! "
Joel didn't feel anymore pain. He felt at peace. He didn't hear anymore screaming, he didn't hear himself choking on his own blood. He didn't hear the screams of who he killed, his daughters, or Ellies. It was just silent and peaceful.
