Work Text:
After the hug in the Orpheum it was made very apparent that the boys could be seen by everyone. That is because Ray walked into the studio the next day and found them all passed out on the couch- a conversation on asking permission followed in suite. But, as cool as it was that people could see them and they could interact with things, they soon discovered they were still part ghost. They could poof places, they couldn’t always eat, sometimes they just phased through doors or floors in Luke’s case(it took a lot of screaming and pulling to get him out of the floor). So, to keep things safe, they kept a distance from Ray and stayed as quiet as they could in the studio-although they were sure Ray knew they lived there at this point. Julie didn’t want to freak her dad out with all the ghost business-Flynn had taken it well enough but her dad tended to worry a lot. So they opted to just pretend they were alive-and avoided questions about schooling. It wasn’t until a few months later that it all came to a head. Luke and Alex were standing behind the couch, talking to Ray and Carlos who were watching a ghost busting documentary called Buzzfeed Unsolved.
“I don’t get it, why are people so obsessed with unsolved murders? Aren’t the solved ones cooler?” Luke asked.
“No! It’s about the mystery, duh. There’s no mystery to discover if it’s already solved,” Carlos protested.
“I think we should be more worried about why people like murder in the first place,” Alex noted.
“I am with you on that one, Alex.” Ray agreed.
“Boo! No fun,” Luke pouted.
“Yeah, boo!” Carlos smiled. Alex rolled his eyes and went to walk away, Luke saw this and stuck his foot out causing Alex to trip. He fell forwards, smacking hard against the floor and leaving his top half inside the wall.
“Aye! Alex, are you okay?” Ray asked, standing up to go check. Alex sat up and held his head.
“Yeah, yeah- I’m okay, I just…Ray are you okay? You look like you just saw a ghost.” Alex said.
“That’s because he did,” Luke sighed, “The gigs up.” Alex looked down at that and saw he was sitting up halfway in the wall and halfway out of it. He looked up at Ray who was white and he quickly got up and out of the wall.
“So- we can explain.” Alex said.
Ray promptly fell backwards and passed out cold.
