Chapter Text
Ava awoke from the dark haze that had been plaguing her mind. She looked around in confusion, her senses were dulled like a cloud of black smoke had been hovering all around her. Her ears were ringing, she felt like she was submerged under water, slowly the sound began to come back.
There was still darkness clouding her eyes, she could hear shaky breaths beside her ear. She was so confused, she couldn't remember anything. Where was she? Why can't she remember anything? As her mind tried to piece together what was going on she was becoming aware of her surroundings.
She was face down laying on top of something or rather someone. It was then that Ava realized one of her hands was...inside this person. Ava used her other hand that felt weak to push away from the body below her, when she did she was met by Beatrice's face. It was scrunched up in pain. Ava blinked slowly, her eyes scrunching up in intense confusion. She looked up to see that they were on the ground in the center aisle of the church at the Cat's Craddle between the wooden benches, she looked up at the figure of Jesus up on the cross hung high above the church.
She then looked back down at Bea to see tear tracks down the sides of her temple.
"Bea?" Said Ava, her voice coming out hoarse and weak. She began to push off the nun only to stop as she hovered above her. Ava's eyes widened as she looked down at Beatrice. The nun's habit was ravaged, the front torn down the middle exposing her breasts that were covered by a black sports bra, her chest was covered in a thin sheen of sweat, bite marks and bruises. Ava's eyes kept wandering down taking in the sight before her, when she reached lower she could see her skirt bunched up over her hips.
Ava swallowed thickly as she took notice of the way Beatrice's thighs shook heavily. There was mixture of wetness and blood smeared on the inside of them. Ava's eye's widened she immediately as she realized she was inside Beatrice, Beatrice's body was shaking and stiff. Ava immediately, but carefully removed her fingers from inside Beatrice making the nun whine in pain. It was soft, barely audible.
Ava's breathing began to pick up, she was hyperventilating. She immediately pushed back, kneeling between Beatrice's legs, her heart was threatening to beat out of her chest as she stared at Beatrice in horror. She immediately felt sick, she wanted to scream. She looked beside them at a piece of black fabric, upon closer inspection it was Bea's underwear. It was torn.
"Ava." It was the first time Beatrice had spoken since Ava came to. Ava looked up at her, she couldn't stop the tears that streamed down her own face all the way down her neck.
"What d-did I do?" Asked Ava her voice completely broken. She couldn't fight off the sobs that choked her. Her throat was turned into painful knot.
She watched as Bea tried to sit shakily, that immediately pushed Ava into action. Ava quickly grabbed a hold of Beatrice gently and carefully guiding her up. Once Beatrice was sitting before her Ava could see the bruise along her jaw and along with her bottom lip that was split with a blue bruise forming around it.
Before Ava could examine Beatrice further there was loud thumping at the doors of the church, Ava turned around and noticed the church doors were shut from the inside, candelabras wedged between the handles keeping them shut.
"Beatrice! Are you alright?" Shouted Mother Superion from the other side. Her voice filled with worry.
"I-I'm alright!" Stuttered Beatrice.
Ava looked back at Beatrice taking in the sight of her, she needed to open the doors and let the other's inside, but she didn't want to leave Beatrice exposed.
Ava stoop up and ran towards one of the walls that had a tapestry hanging on it and ripped it off before running back towards Beatrice, she then wrapped the tapestry around her covering her up.
"Fuck, what the fuck did I do?" Said Ava as a sob tore through her throat. She was losing control, her hands were shaking and her vision was darkening at the edges.
She'd hurt Beatrice.
"Ava..." Said Beatrice as she shakily reached for her hand. "It's not your fault, it wasn't you." She could see Beatrice was trying to comfort her, but the way her bottom lip trembled as she spoke made Ava want to die. Ava didn't deserve it, she'd hurt Beatrice in an unspeakable way. She couldn't wallow right now, she needed to help Bea.
Ava got up and ran towards the door pulling out the candelabra wedged there, in a beat the doors were slammed open and Ava wason the groud with an exploding pain in her jaw, Camila had hit her with the butt of her assault riffle. Ava was on the ground being held at gun point by both Camila and Yasmine. She shook her heads as her eyes landed on Beatrice, the nun's eyes were wide with worry as she looked over at Ava.
Mother Superion rushed in after the two nun's and immediately searched the room.
"Don't hurt her!" Shouted Bea at both of the sister warriors.
"Beatrice!" Mother Superion made her way over and kneeled beside her. After a few seconds her expression changed from worry to a knowing sadness. She held Beatrice's face in her hands as Beatrice took in shallow shaky breaths.
"Everything will be alright, my child." Said Mother Superion as she pulled Beatrice close to her chest. Trying to offer her some comfort.
"Please, take her to the infirmary." Said Ava as she looked over at Mother Superion. Mother Superion looked over to Ava, she could see anger in her eyes followed by softness.
"She's not possessed anymore." Said Mother Superion sounding deflated it sounded more out of exhaustion rather than disappointment. "Lower your weapons." It was a command.
"Are you sure?" Asked Camila giving Mother Superion a skeptical look.
"Yes." Said Beatrice, Camila looked over at her and lowered her weapon.
Ava didn't waste a beat as she ran over towards Beatrice, ignoring her own blood dripping down the corner of her mouth. Leaning down immediately and scooping up Beatrice bridal style. Bea winced as Ava pulled her up she grabbed onto Ava's neck as Ava walked at a fast pace down to the infirmary bay.
-
Ava sat outside the medical room Beatrice was currently in, she couldn't stop crying since she'd gained consciousness back at the church. Camila had left to attend to some issues Ava had caused. Ava was still in the dark about everything that had transpired. It wasn't until Camila arrived and sat across from her that Ava was finally gonna be able to ask what had happened.
Camila looked at her sympathy evident in her eyes.
"What happened, Cam?" Asked Ava her voice soft and broken. Camila looked thoughtful for a moment as if she was thinking on what to say. She was being careful with whatever information she provided.
"We don't actually know, what we do know is that something possessed you. Something stronger than a wraith." Said Camila carefully.
"Did I hurt anyone else?" Asked Ava, she was afraid fo the answer.
"Yes, but nothing a couple of weeks in the infirmary won't heal." Camila tried to soften the news, she knew it would be difficult however.
Ava let out a watery sigh and buried her face in her hands as she cried silently. She bit her lower lip hard in ana attempt to not sob.
"Ava, please. You have to understand, this isn't you fault." Said Camila as she switched to the seat next Ava's and rubbed soothing circles on her back.
"I could've fought it, Cam. I should've-" Ava choked on a sob as she tried to continue, she took in a shaky breath before continuing. "I-I... hur-hurt Bea..." She looked up at Cam, her eyes red from crying and the most pained look Camila had ever seen.
"Beatrice know's you would never hurt her." Said Camila, she was veing honest. She knew in her heart that Beatrice believed it as well.
Suddenly Mother Superion stepped out of the room Beatrice was in. Ava immediately sat up and wiped away at the tears that were staining her face. Mother looked at her with what could only be described as pity.
Ava's skin crawled, she didn't desevet any pity. Not after what she did.
"How is she?" Asked Camila, her hands anxious clasped in front of her. Ava could see how white her knuckles were.
"She's conscious and responsive. She's sensitive and in pain but, she's aware of everything." Said Mother Superion looking at both Ava and Camila.
"Can we?" Asked Camila gesturing towards the room.
"Just Ava, Beatrice wants to speak to you." Said Mother Superion giving Ava a fixed look.
Suddenly Ava was filled with dread.
"I don't think...I-I shouldn't." Said Ava stepping back as she shook her head. Camila gave her a worried look.
Mother Superion nodded at Camila signaling for her to go into Beatrice's room with one last glance at Ava Camila headed into the room.
"I understand you're fear, Ava...but Beatrice needs you." Said Mother Superion as she looked at Ava.
"I raped her, Mother! I don't know why this halo hasn't burned it's way out of me? After what I've done." Said Ava whisper shouting as she went through a flurry of emotions. Tears falling freely from her eyes.
"Ava, the halo recognizes your intentions. It knows your heart, you would've never hurt Beatrice." Said Mother Superion, her voice tight with emotion. Ava could see that Mother Superion was hurting for Beatrice.
Ava shook her head, she refused to believe it. There was something wrong with her, something that demon found and could exploit.
"I don't think she should see me for now." Said Ava before she turned away and left.
