Chapter Text
“…Even though you’re saying such horrible things, you have such an innocent smile on your face.” Wataru commented, and he was smiling himself.
There was nothing he loved more than hearing Eichi talk. And Eichi had seemed happier and happier with each passing week, as his medical exams turned better results every time he did his checkups. For this same reason, he couldn’t grasp why he would be so focused on talks about death and his unfortunate shortage of time. It wasn’t so uncommon to hear Eichi mention those things whenever his mind wandered off into the night, but it squeezed Wataru’s heart agonizingly when it was only just starting to feel comfort in the good news about his health.
Still, Wataru was an entertainer at heart. He had to keep the mood light. It seemed to work especially well today, because even after saying that, he got to see Eichi turn to face him. He really looked like a child at times: stubborn, his eyes perpetually turned to face forward; and today, his expression looked particularly giddy. A little smile wouldn’t leave his face. Eichi’s skin was so pale it glowed, just like a real angel’s, but Wataru found it so easy to taint it with a cute shade of red whenever he was around. That way, he looked almost like a god.
“Why, I just can’t help myself at times.” Came Eichi’s reply. His voice always had a hint of intrigue and you could hear his smile through it. “Though, yes, the prospect of dying has terrified me for years, thus causing me to live in such a regrettable manner, I am still alive now! And I can still do things I wouldn’t have dared dream of years ago! And I know I’m going to die much sooner than everyone else, I know. But whenever I do find myself relishing in the memories of the moments I was able to live, of the things I’ve done – the good ones, that is – I simply know it is never too late. And to think of just how much more life is ahead of me, little as it may be. Even a day more is too much time, much more than I would have expected years ago.
“That is precisely what makes me happy, Wataru! Because when I think about it – yes, I could do it right now! Don’t you think? I could do all of it! All of the things I’m missing, everything I thought I would not live through…”
Wataru nodded his head. This sickly child was indeed a grown man now, and one who had achieved – no, conquered – his most unthinkable goals. An impressive feat, even for the richest person in the country. Sitting back to watch is always the easiest option, after all.
“I suppose that’s true,” he nodded, and got up on his feet. Eichi was pacing around the room in front of where Wataru had been sitting, just letting him bask in the view of his favourite person. It took his breath away, but now Wataru wanted to spin him around a little. He offered him his hand, which Eichi took. “And if you will have me, I would love nothing more than to accompany you through your long, prospering future.”
For one reason or another, Eichi let out a laugh, like what Wataru said had been really silly. They were swaying their bodies around this empty office, their only music being the ticking of the clock that, for once, did not represent Eichi’s rush to go back to work. With how dreamily he looked at him, Wataru knew this was a moment to be cherished.
“But of course, Wataru! My Wataru! You are a key piece in all of this!”
He had to laugh together with him. Eichi was so impossibly adorable when he was happy. Today he seemed so cheerful, sure to have come up with the perfect ideas for fine’s next performance, perhaps? And it seemed like Wataru’s role would be an important one. He had to thank the heavens for being favoured by him like this. Although Eichi was oblivious to the meaning behind Wataru's affections, he often appeared to return his feelings to a small degree, if anything, with the way he was so constantly interested in him and in keeping him around.
Eichi’s left hand, once resting so peacefully on Wataru’s palm, now joined his own right arm in wrapping itself around his shoulders, still spinning around with him as he smiled with glee.
“Oh? And what might Your Majesty have in store for me?”
“Why, Wataru, isn’t it obvious?” Eichi’s eyes gleamed. He looked adorable, romantic, full of hope, and, “I want to have sex with you!”
Despite the clear blue sky, Wataru could swear he heard a thunder come crashing down dramatically. He stopped dead in his tracks, eyes so wide they looked ready to pop out. Leave it to Eichi to get Wataru, of all people, speechless and confused.
“Huh? What did you say, Eichi?”
“I said, I want to have sex with you. Is this a refusal?” Eichi hardly looked melancholic at all, just a bit hesitant, like all the anxiety he should have been feeling before had only struck now.
Still confused, it took Wataru a second to shake his head.
“N-No! Of course not, my Emperor, whatever you want from me I shall–“
“Oh, perhaps I’ve been too blunt!” There was no way Eichi’s eyes could still look that wide and angelic when he had just blurted out something like that. Though the smile was gone, he was still looking adorable like that. “I apologize. I assumed you would have understood from what I talked about earlier, and that your hand had been an invitation, or a sign of acceptance.”
Maybe now was the time where Wataru admitted to himself that the sight of Eichi had been so pretty he’d accidentally zoned out for about half of the monologue. When your sight is entranced, your hearing is often compromised.
“See, I simply believe we did not get to live our lives as innocently as those our age. If these newer, more modern shows I have been watching are anything to go by, then perhaps sex and romance have always been an important part of our teenage years, and we simply batted no eye to them due to the events of the war – granted, I caused it – and the crushing pressure from the media, the industry, and those around us when we were just beginning to blossom into the idols we are today.
“Tell me, Wataru, did I give up the normalcy of youth so I could become closer to you and the others I admired so deeply? Did you? This is what I’ve been thinking about. Although, because of the effects of my medication at the time, it was only now that I began to experience those kinds of emotions. Is it a sin that I would want to act on them? Or is it natural?
“Either way, they say it isn’t the same if it’s with someone you don’t love. And while I know that fictional shows are nowhere close to mirroring reality, it seems to be a pattern that a character will be at their highest when they do it with someone they have pined for, and at their lowest when they give no regard to the person they are with. So, if I were to have intercourse with anyone, it would absolutely have to be you! There is no one else I trust this much. Perhaps I should have been more nervous. But think about it, the other fine members would not do. Touri is too much like a child, while Yuzuru is too much like a mother. My child and my mother, in fact. Meanwhile, Keito is way too…”
Eichi’s fingers had intertwined on the back of Wataru’s neck between his two hands. While he talked and talked and talked, Wataru watched with what could only be described as shock in his eyes. In fact, he was always so ahead of everything, it was difficult to surprise him; this was his longest lasting look of shock, and it showed no signs of leaving his face. Still, with shaking fingers and stuttering steps, a small smile appeared on his lips.
Sex and romance, he had said. It has to be with someone you love, he had said. Someone you’ve pined for, he had said. Those words shot a wave of electricity up Wataru’s body, and his hands, resting on Eichi’s sides, trembled a little less once he applied the due amount of self-control to them. Did he mean that? Did he mean what he was saying? Had he realized he was in love with Wataru?
And although they still swayed around the room, Wataru felt as though they were out the window and flying up into the clouds already.
“…All this to say, of course, I am simply being selfish. I may be trying to relive the years of a normal teenager, but I am older and more mature than I was at that age; I am well aware that you may not feel the same about some, or all of this, and I would be respectful of that, Wataru. Because it’s you, after all.”
Wataru went from merely holding Eichi’s waist to fully and properly embracing him, with the most tender look on his face as he leaned in just a bit.
“Of course my answer is yes, Eichi.”
Despite everything, it was almost as if Eichi had been the one caught off guard this time.
“Perfect. Brilliant!” He celebrated after a short pause. He didn’t seem to realize that Wataru was hoping to go in for a kiss, or perhaps he was just too relieved to notice. “All the arrangements have been made. I thought it would be ideal to keep it informal, but I would not feel comfortable doing it in the dorms. So I booked us a cabin at one of my resorts. You don’t need to worry about privacy, as naturally I have booked all other cabins as well, so it should be just the two of us. This one isn’t connected to any of our theme parks either, so hopefully the atmosphere won’t be too bad. Just make sure your schedule is clear for next weekend, as it should be a slightly longer trip since it is located in one of my islands. Ah, the weather should be great, however–”
Before Eichi could stop talking or Wataru could have the chance to shut him up himself, the door to his office opened, revealing a very impatient Keito holding a mountain of white paper sheets in one arm.
“Eichi. Would you care to explain why you–” Keito’s voice was both demanding and condescending at first, but this tone only lasted until he stopped dead in his tracks, looking at Wataru and Eichi as the two of them stared directly back at him. He had the most disgusted look on his face, but it wasn’t enough to hide the blush of someone who has just walked in on something they feel like they shouldn’t have walked in on. “Just what the hell are the two of you doing?”
“Hellooooo there, Right-Hand Man! Fancy seeing you here!” Wataru beamed, letting one arm go from their embrace to wave his hand high up at him. Other than that, the couple still looked amusingly tangled up. “Don’t tell me you’ve come to steal Eichi away from me?”
“There is nothing I want more than to see the two of you explode.”
“So cruel! So cold! You’re breaking my heart and filling it with love at the same time!” Wataru cried out dramatically.
“Oh, Keito is so mean~” Eichi joined in, not caring enough to remove his hands from where they placed comfortably on Wataru’s chest.
Though he normally would be trying to burn holes through the two of them with only his eyes and glasses, Keito was a tad bit too embarrassed by the excessive PDA – now they’d gone too far! – to even dare look back at them, and tried to occupy himself with placing the paperwork on Eichi’s desk, as if organizing what had already been thoroughly organized was some stupidly time-consuming task. He flipped through the pages helplessly.
“Would you just hurry up already and come get these reports, please.”
Right, Eichi had to finish budgeting a few more shows, then he had a meeting to attend – remember to schedule a couple more that were due –, and he had to approve some of the staff hired for the game department of the Tenshouin Foundation, and oh, he’d almost forgotten to fire some people he’d received complaints about, and now he also had to look through the ES dorm system reports. But he would rather keep dancing with Wataru, and talking to him about the sex they were going to have. Why did he ask to see those reports again?
Unwillingly, he let go of his partner. If he wasn’t Eichi Tenshouin, always hopeful to live through every second of his life, he would have rolled his eyes.
“Right, right. No need to be so serious, we were just having a good time~”
“Oh my, would you look at the time! It seems duty is calling for me!” Wataru sighed as he gave a dramatic look to his wrist watch. The one he wasn’t wearing. “I shall take my leave. But fear not, for I shall return to you, o Juliet!”
With a bow, he took Eichi’s hand in his and lovingly kissed the back of it. He looked at Keito, who retreated with a “don’t even think about it!” that caused an obnoxiously loud laugh from the actor. And just like that, he was gone, jumping out of the window like it was a completely normal, everyday thing to do. And it was, except he’d been in such a rush he almost actually felt the gravity take hold of him. He was still nervous, and his heart was still racing, and now he no longer had to keep it cool, so all the repressed excitement and anxiety hit him. For a second, he was just blushing there, covering his cheeks with his hands, hanging from his hair.
Inside the office, Keito was very excited to go on with his business while pretending he hadn’t just seen all that.
“I will need you to sign here, and you can keep the rest. But pay attention to the parts I highlighted, they’re the most urgent demands for now. And don’t you leave this for later.”
Eichi nodded along with everything, now sitting behind his computer.
“Mhm,” he stared at the screen instead and his attention was somewhere else entirely. Although Keito had said that, it wasn’t like Eichi to postpone work at all.
“Are you even listening?”
“Hey, Keito.” Eichi called as if to confirm his worries. “Would you rather have sex with someone in a maid dress or in a bunny costume?”
Keito just stood there for a moment, the realization draining all the colour from his face.
“I think I’d rather kill myself in front of you right now, Eichi. If that answers your question.”
