Work Text:
A rustle caught her attention, and she froze.
She had been confident that she was alone, and not followed into the woods. She had to be certain, what with the information Baghra had told her.
She was still conflicted - how could what she had told her be true?
There was another rustle, and she turned around, senses on alert.
Out of the bush crawled out a wolf. Alina hid, not wanting to waste any of her energy on a fight. But then she looked closely and realised that the she hadn't much to fear - it has seemed that the wolf had already feasted that evening.
Not knowing why, Alina decided to backtrack the wolf's trail, following a clear pattern of blood.
She reached a clearing, and unwittingly gasped at the sight.
Amongst the leaves lay a figure dressed in black. There was only person who dressed like that in Ravka, and he sure as hell was not supposed to be out here.
See, but he's after you, Alina. He came for you.
The conflict rose in Alina. He was a good man to her, but if Baghra was not lying, he was the one responsible for all the destruction and the war.
There was only one way she could find out - she had to stay here, with him, at least until the truth prevailed.
If Baghra was right, a mauling from a wolf was not the worst thing that he would experience. She would cherish killing him.
But first, she had to heal him first. It would be no fun otherwise.
