Chapter Text

"You're a selfish bitch! You only ever cared about yourself."

"About myself? Do you know how much shit I've gotten you out of? You'd be jobless without me you ungrateful son of a bitch."

"I'm ungrateful? Me? You've never appreciated anything I've done for you"

"You've done nothing for me, absolutely nothing, you can't even love me correctly, all you want to do is argue and have sex, and by the way, you're bad at that too!"

"Lucy loved it"

"Loved what? The rhythmless strokes or the crying over your dead dads camera every time you argued?"

That did it, that was the final straw for their relationship, James had walked out in tears while Lena sat back and downed a bottle of Merlot.

Call her ruthless, call her a bitch, but one thing she had never been was selfish.

She never complained once when she got dragged up and down the stairs by her hair when she was 12, she didn't complain when she stayed in the hospital from malnourishment, and she never complained when she received backlash for coming out as a woman loving woman.

Beat that you homophobic heteros.

All that was character development and look where she is now, a billionaire with her own company, her parents are dead, her brother is
hospitalized and her exes are no longer in her life.

She'd say life was going pretty damn good.

Beep

"Yes Ms. Luthor?"

"Ehm yes, Jess? Could you clear my schedule for the rest of the day?"

"Of course Ms. Luthor, is everything all right?"

"Yes Jess everything is fine, and you can take the day off too, I won't be coming back today."

"Are you sure? I can stay late just in case."

"No Jess really, if I need you I'll call."

"Okay, thank you so much Ms. Luthor."

"You're very welcome Jess, have a nice day."

Beep

Lena clicked off and got on her private elevator.

It led straight to the garage.

She'd never used a driver, she had perfectly capable hands and legs, and the poor man who signed up for the job has paid off days and vacations.

She was a cold stone bitch in the office yes, but she was kind to people, most people anyways.

Lena Luthor Approaching

"Funny, I thought Batman was approaching, but thanks H.O.P.E"

Lena chuckled to herself and decided to call her friend Sam while she drove to the coffee shop.

She just had to tell her about her day.
———
"A selfish bitch? Can you believe he called me that? I've been through many breakups and never have I been called selfish!"

Lena stormed into the coffee shop seething, ignoring all the eyes that had settled on her as she did so.

She had become so angry while retelling the story, that she didn't even notice the young woman coming out of the kitchen with a cup of hot coffee in her hands.

They ended up slamming right into each other.

"Fuck!"

"Oh, oh no, oh I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, oh gosh, I didn't even see you-"

"Oh my gosh you're Lena Luthor"

"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I ruined your pretty dress, oh gosh and you're probably burned, that coffee was hot"

Lena raised an eyebrow at the young woman, she'd never seen her before today, the poor girl was as red as her lipstick.

She swallowed her anger, hung up the phone and helped the woman up, staring her down as she did so.

"What's your name?"

"Who me? I mean of course me, who else would you be talking to?"

Lena smirked at the young woman, waiting for her to answer the question.

"I uh, my name's Kara, Kara Danvers."

"Well Ms. Danvers, you have nothing to apologize for, I bumped into you, are you hurt?"

"No I- no I'm not, the bathroom is uh, the bathroom is-"

"I know where the bathroom is darling, I come here every day"

"You do? of course you do"

That's why her pictures are all over the wall Kara.

Lena chuckled as the woman mumbled to herself and picked up the ruined coffee cup.

"Don't go anywhere, I want to talk to you when I get cleaned up."

"Don't go anywhere, got it"

Lena found herself smiling while she cleaned herself up in the bathroom mirror, she was so glad she chose to wear dark colors today, otherwise this would've been much worse.

She'd have to ask Cat who this woman was.

Kara Danvers.

God was she beautiful.

Pretty blue eyes, golden skin, strong hands.

Useful hands.

"Hmm"

Lena hummed to herself, walking out of the bathroom and scanning the small cafe to see the blonde in the exact same spot she was before.

"Kara?"

Immediately blue eyes locked on hers, it was enough to make her smile.

"You know, when I said don't go anywhere, I meant don't leave the building, not stand here and wait for me to get out of the bathroom."

Karas cheeks went red with embarrassment.

Cute.

Lena thought.

"I haven't been- I left to clean up the-"

Kara huffed and just changed her whole sentence.

"Well when you put it like that it just makes me seem like a creep."

"Oh no darling you're not a creep."

Lena laughed, putting a hand on the blondes shoulder to reassure her.

"If it's not a problem, I'd like you to come to my office one day."

"What? Me? Your office? Really?"

"You could do a lot for me Ms. Danvers, I hope you take me up on my offer."

"Uh yes ma'am I will, I mean Lena, I mean-"

Lena watched the flustered woman struggle for a bit before she seemed to get her words out.

"Yeah yeah I'll come"

"Okay great, I look forward to seeing you, have a nice rest of your day Kara."

"Thank you."

"You too!"

Lena smiled as she heard the woman yell while she walked out of the cafe, she had forgotten about her breakup already.
