From cracks in concrete down below, a world of ashen gray
Come rising up, the creepy crawlies waking up to play
They tell the tale of scarab queen, and where her powers lie
The song of how she saved us all, yet still was doomed to die
From deep within the murky pond, that lay beside the sea
A legend rose in quiet prose, a savior yet to be
Her will was never broken, and her strength would win the day
The demon clad in velvet black that came from Brockton Bay
Love would bloom on bloody ground, as you may well surmise
Her kingdom had been safe to watch another morning rise
A year of endless chaos days, a toil made to last
A band of rogues who stood unshaken, stand before the mast
Til one day came the prophet girl, to give her words of doom
The son of man will be the one that brings us to our tomb
The queen had heard the warning clear, yet still refused to die
"We shall not yield, we'll fight because at least we have to try"
The queen had shifted sides for she had heard the prophet sing
To save us all, abandon bonds, a crow without its wing
Years had passed in servitude, a court of captors strange
Til news of armageddon had been whispered in her range
A madman and his legions made a foul and cunning trick
To poke and prod at golden god, to see what makes him tick
The shining light we trusted then, for all the ones he saved
Yet broken mind, undid his bind, a spectacle depraved
The angel stands there in the clouds, its light will bring the end
The heroes stand corageous yet to see the sky be rend
The architects of ruin, mourn all dressed in marble white
Accept the coming death, for what shall happen will be right
"We tried to stop it", said the doctor, "he shall scourge the land"
"And all our evil was for naught, the end is now at hand"
The forces rallied strong at first, but broke in rising screams
Til hope was all but gone, with their survival lost in dreams
But here she stands a monarch, a bug of no renown
To take the reins and slay the beast, to earn her thorny crown
"From dust we came", the queen had cried, "to dust we shall return"
"For bloodshed is far better than to leave this world to burn"
A helping hand on worried brow, the walls came crashing down
The queen of swarms, her purpose known, had finally earned her crown
She gathered up her army now, "united shall we stand"
A battle felt on many worlds, a day that broke the land
And there he lay on cobbled ground, a sight of endless joy
The beast was slain, defeated by the queen and her employ
The boogeyman had seen her then, and told her with a sigh
Her Majesty, her power free, would be the next to die
By bullet came the end, and so the queen was laid to rest
But secrets float, on whispered winds, "her death was but a jest"
The monarch lives in peace for she has put away the blade
Yet still the fear and awe she brought had with the people stayed
"The scarab queen may rise again", said worried voice in fright
"I pray today I waste away before you're proven right"
But those who knew the regent, they had known her love and charm
Despite her flaws the queen had never meant to bring us harm
So listen well, upon the breath of summer rain and wind
For Khepri we shall sing for she was saint who also sinned
For hate had put her on the path, but love had conquered fear
So listen well, or else a haunting buzzing you may hear
