Chapter 1: I'll see what we can do.

Chapter Text

FDaM

Freddy could only hear static, sometimes it would clear just enough to barely register voices and sounds.

“That… it sure is a mess, should we sort them out first?”

“Just take them to Parts and Service let them worry about it.”

More static, only interrupted occasionally by the sound of metal wheels on a tiled floor.

“Jesus Christ! How many feet did they fall down?”

“I dunno, 30? 50?”

Again, he lost all his hearing. Later, it returned, although he didn’t know how long he had been out.

“This one fell on it’s feet, the upper half’s in good condition, we’ll have to work on it for some time before it’s up and running though.”

He recognized that voice. It belonged to the head of maintenance in charge of the animatronics. The guy treated them like household appliances. Overall, an unpleasant man. You would only find him down at Parts and Service if something had gone really wrong.

The sound of echoing shoes approached whatever remained of Freddy, and a new unfamiliar voice spoke up, softly but uninterested.

“What about this one?”

“Yeah… that one will have to stay down here for a few days I’m afraid…”

There was no way to mistake it, the one staying for a few days at Parts and Service was Freddy himself. It also seemed like he wasn’t alone in this predicament. Someone else had been damaged along with him in the accident.

“That won’t do.” the cold voice continued. “We need this one for next week.”

“I… I’ll see what we can do.”

Static yet again.

Did he have to wait hours? Days? Weeks? It looked as if they had left him forgotten somewhere down there. He was not alone, he could tell. Whenever he regained his hearing he could distinguish many voices, far more than usual at Parts and Service. Apparently, there was plenty of work to do since the voices where accompanied by metal clangs, thuds and all sort of tool noises. Whatever they were doing, he was not part of it.

Finally, he was startled back into wakefulness by a cheery voice.

“There you are! We didn’t just forget about you, you know?”

They were addressing him, at last. Freddy tried to thank her, but instead, a garbled buzzing noise came out.

“That doesn’t sound so good.” She said with an unmistakable grimace. She didn’t sound so cheerful anymore.

“Don’t worry, we’ll have you ready in no time!” Her good spirits returned.

“Just stop talking to it, it’s freaking me out!” Another voice spoke up further away.

“If you were in his situation, you’d like the support!”

“That thing doesn’t need support, it needs to be put out of its misery!”

At that comment the remains of the animatronic started to twitch and convulse uncannily on the workbench.

“Make it stop! I’m not going to work on that thing if it’s moving!”

Freddy lost consciousness once again.

He felt numbly everything they did. It was the most extensive procedure they had performed on him, a slow and meticulous process. He gave up trying to tell how much time had passed, he was only aware that he was steadily regaining his abilities. Each passing moment he felt stronger, ready to jump back up as soon as they’d let him.

“All right, big ol’ guy, you’re almost done!” The friendly mechanic returned. He still could only hear her, they didn’t allow him to reactivate his vision yet.

“You should be ready to leave by the time we’re done today, are you excited?”

“Why are you still talking to it?”

“Well, YOU are not much conversation, are you!”

“Whatever let’s just put on the shell and leave…”

The two mechanics snapped the pieces of casing around Freddy’s reconstructed endoskeleton, welded them in place and sanded the imperfections. Later they applied a fresh coat of paint and stepped back to admire their work.

“Not bad, huh! And to think that they wanted to waste thousands on a new one.”

“It would have saved us a lot of time, at least they should have brought more people to help.”

“You can’t complain I did pretty much all the work!”

The unenthusiastic voice quickly changed the subject. “Just bring it back online and we can leave before 12.”

After what felt like years, Freddy was able to walk again, he still felt hazy and light headed, as well as oddly unbalanced.

“Nothing that a quick visit to the charging station won’t fix.” He told himself.

As he approached the backdoor of his green room, he heard his muffled friends’ voices. They sounded concerned. They must have felt his absence just as much as Freddy did theirs. Well, they wouldn’t have to wait any longer.

Freddy fumbled for the door handle, his fingers felt strangely elongated. He managed to grab on and pulled.

“Hi guys, I’m back!” But the image that received him shocked him still.

His tidy and welcoming room looked nothing like he remembered. His official merchandise posters and the crudely drawn pictures that his beloved guests gifted him laid ripped all over the floor. Stuffed Freddy Fazbear plushies poured cotton from innumerable gouges, and the furniture was scattered in pieces all over the place, except for a tattered sofa on which Chica and Roxy sat, looking over uneasily at Freddy, stuck halfway through the doorway. And the most confusing sight of them all was an exact replica of himself, a perfect clone of Freddy’s, standing in the middle of the room, refusing to make eye contact with him. When his copy dared to do so, Freddy saw that it had bright red eyes.
