wrapped around her little finger

Summary:

Everyone that's ever been with Eury knows one thing: she's mean, but when she's on her period, she's at her absolute worst.

Tabby is the first one that doesn't seem to mind.

Work Text:

Ah, fuck .

In another time, the pain in her lower abdomen and the headache would've been a relief for Euryale, but now they were just… a pain in her ass. Inconvenient as fuck.

And just when she was all fucking alone in the house. Great.

Well, there was really only one plan of action she could take. Two, really, but Lily did not deserve to get interrupted just for this. Tabby, though, had signed up for it.

eury: tab

eury: i'm bleeding and everything hurts

eury: i'm gonna kill something if you're not here asap

kitten: awn, how lovely

eury: shut the fuck up i'm in pain

kitten: can't understand

Every month she just had to bring up how she was insanely lucky and had never had a single goddamn period in her life.

eury: ugh

kitten: I'll feed the mini bastards and drop by, Pawsome for you?

eury: that works

Eury remembered something. Their fourth real date, they went to a coffee shop near Tabby's shelter, and they had the creamiest, most perfect hot chocolate Eury had ever had in her entire life. Fuck, she craved the shit out of it now.

eury: can you bring me hot chocolate

eury: you know that one

Tabby sent her a cat sticker as an answer to that. Great, she got it.

eury: thanks

eury: how the hell do i ever understand you

She sent another one. Why in God's name did she love this girl again?

kitten: and body language

eury: this is a text conversation

kitten: be there in 20

eury: great

She threw her phone across the bed. Fuck, what to do while she waited? It would be twenty whole minutes or more until Tabby got here with her warmth and her softness and the chocolate …

She couldn't really get ahead on her readings, because everything hurt and she was dying and not in the mood for goddamn legalese and deciphering her notes from the late night. Neither was she up for loud music from some joker's Instagram stories.

Music, that sounded nice. And did not require looking at a screen.

When Tabby entered, Eury had her phone playing Lizzo in a super low volume, with a pillow over her face and curtains shut. She heard a snicker.

"Hey, grumpy cat. I got your painkillers from the kitchen cabinet."

God, what a gift .

She lifted the pillow and there she was, her tall, fake redhead holding a carry-out cup, a hot water bottle under her arm and a medicine box. Eury stretched her arms at her, frowning.

"Aww, you look like a kitten stretching."

"Gimme the pills and let me sit on your lap."

"You have to sit up right first."

Eury groaned, but followed suit. She downed a pill and grabbed the hot chocolate with both hands, taking a sip of it and feeling tingles all over her body.

"Hmm, thanks."

Tabby sat on the bed, smiling at her. "Did you put on a pad or something already?"

"Managed to get up long enough to do that. I know how to have a period , now come here and cuddle me ."

She laughed, and they maneuvered until Tabby was leaning on the headboard and Eury was sitting sideways between her legs, sipping the hot chocolate. The drowsiness from the painkillers had started to hit, and even more with Tabby running her fingers through her hair. Eury eventually gave up on staying conscious and put the cup on her bedside table, cradling the hot water bottle wrapped in a towel closer to her abdomen and laying her head on Tabby's shoulder.

"D'you have anything to do today?" She mumbled.

"Nothing that can't be done tomorrow."

"Hmm, good." She sighed, taking in her smell - musky and citric, lightening the space no matter what sense she still had the patience to keep working.

"Do you feel better?" Tabby asked, with that voice she used only with her and baby kittens.

"A little. Better with you here." Eury nuzzled against her neck, her warmth and softness being all that she needed right now.

And maybe later she'd feel better, but for today all that mattered was that she had Tabby with her and all was well.
