Work Text:
Isolation makes me hungry,
Will you stay here ‘til I sleep?
You’ll return home in the morning,
But you never really leave
I keep the memories alive,
The weight upon my shoulders felt so divine
With a Goddess in my right eye,
Watching every step I take, before I die
---
“Gah!”
The hero’s slanted ears pricked up at the exasperation behind him. It was quite surprising that he could hear it, considering the ruckus around him. That being said, it was considerably more muted than the few minutes before he’d beaten his allies. Perhaps his ears were still ringing from the harsh, chaotic noise of the battle.
“How… HOW did you do that?!”
Link turned on his heel to look through the plumes of dust. Dimly lit by the soft flames of the torches lining the pathway down the valley, Revali panted heavily as he knelt on the ground, one wing clasping his bent knee to keep his balance. Patches of his plumage were eerily darker than usual, and the Rito coughed slightly, spitting a smudge of blood into the grass. His amber brows were furrowed in annoyance, and Link wondered if he should maybe dodge those piercing green eyes. Sharp and unrelenting, and more lethal than the Master Sword when their owner was furious.
As if to intentionally make the situation worse, a hearty, excited laugh came from behind one of the cracked rocks. Grasping at its rugged edge with his claws, Sidon used it to pull himself out forward, his spare hand tightly gripping his Lightscale Trident, its twin having been flung far away by one of the young knight’s swift strikes. The Zora Prince was obviously weary, but equally exhilarated by the battle, his golden eyes on fire. Link bit his lip with concern when Sidon glanced down at a fairly deep and bloody gash running down the side of his shoulder, a pang of guilt gripping at the boy’s heart. He hadn’t meant to inflict that amount of damage, especially not on an ally. Sidon caught his friend’s worried expression and grinned to reassure him. “I was right then, my friend! Your talents are remarkable, unmatched even!”
Link looked guilty and clenched his left fist and circled it around his chest twice. “I’m sorry.”
“No, please don’t be! It’s nothing my dear sister can’t handle, after all. In fact, I’d better go and locate her. No doubt she will be busy healing our other comrades.”
The Zora Prince stood and approached Revali, extending a hand. “Here.”
Revali glared at Sidon’s hand, meeting his eyes. “Gloating, are we?” He spat, refusing the future Champion’s hand, pushing himself up off the ground with a mere flutter of his wings. His injuries made him wince, but Hylia above he daren’t show it to the two men before him. “You won our little spat, Prince. No need to draw it out.”
Link cocked an eyebrow and turned to Revali with an unamused expression. “You would have drawn it out if you’d won, Revali.” He signed, brushing the side of his chin with his knuckles, briefly opening and closing his fingers and using that same hand to point his thumb at his other hand as they mirrored, gently bobbing it up and down, before pointing at the Rito. Sidon chuckled, much to Revali’s infuriation. “Now that’s ridiculous!” He protested, hating how high and frenzied his tone was, hating even more that Link’s biggest fan from the future was finding this exchange amusing.
“No it isn’t. Don’t lie.”
“Why you runty little-!”
“Okay, that’s enough, now.” Sidon came between the two, which was easily done considering his size, and held his hands up to stop the two Champions from getting in another scrap. “I’ll go find my sister. I think we’ve all worked hard enough for tonight. It’s time to rest.”
Link watched as the Zora strode off, wondering if he ever had difficulty finding Mipha considering how tiny she was compared to her grown little brother. He felt somewhat uneasy at being left alone with Revali. Brushing a hand at the back of his head awkwardly, he signed another apology, this one to the Champion. Revali huffed.
“Don’t pity me. And don’t get cocky either. One little victory does not make you worthy to be a Champion. Honestly, if that pretty blond head of yours gets any bigger, Hyrule will be doomed.”
Oh Hylia, why had that remark sounded so affectionate? "Pretty blond head"?
Revali swallowed hard, feeling his face flush. Fortunately, the heat was hidden beneath his feathers. On the other hand, there was no mistaking the soft red of the Hylian’s dirty cheeks, as he stared at the bird, unable to hide his embarrassment. Nice.
The Rito took advantage of Link’s surprised expression, turned his back on the Hylian and took off into the frigid air, his dark feathers quickly concealing him into the inky night. Link watched him until his eyes blurred from squinting, losing Revali’s form seconds later.
“Link!”
The sun-haired boy turned to see Mipha approaching him, followed by a now-healed Sidon, the blood and mess staining his side gone. She placed a hand on her chest to catch her breath, before darting a glance over Link’s shoulder. “Oh? Where’s Revali?”
“Took off in a sulk.”
The sudden deep tone startled the three of them, and Teba folded away his bow as he joined them, Link sidestepping a bit to give the Rito a gap. “I don’t know what it is, but it’s clear Master Revali isn’t fond of being defeated.” Teba met the soft amber eyes of the Zora Princess. “Is he normally this way, Your Highness?”
Mipha pressed her carmine lips together in thought. “Not… normally. But then again, he’s never been defeated in front of us. Maybe he feels ashamed?”
“There’s no need to be.” Sidon lifted his arms and locked his fingers together above his head, stretching and slightly baring his fangs at the pull. “Failure is just an opportunity to learn, after all. It means we all have a greater chance of destroying Ganon.”
“Yes, but Revali doesn’t see it that way.” Link piped up. “In his eyes, he expects himself to always be perfect. I think that’s why he hates me so much. I wish I knew how to make him see that I don’t have any hard feelings.”
Mipha’s expression softened and she beamed at him. “That’s just like you, Link. Whether it’s the Great Deku Tree, or the littlest frog, you want to befriend everyone. Please, don’t ever change.”
Sidon and Teba nodded, and the three followed the two groups of Zora and Rito as they headed to shelter for the night. As Link rubbed his forearms in an attempt to keep warm, Sidon brought his hand down to the boy’s shoulder.
“Something is on your mind, my love. If you wish to talk, I’m here.”
---
Revali grimaced as he tightened the gauze around one of his wings. Maybe he shouldn’t have took off before allowing Mipha to restore him. But he couldn’t bear the thought of her seeing him having been defeated by Link. He was relatively good friends with the young Zora lady, he didn’t want her to think badly of him.
Then there was her brother.
Just, why in Hyrule did he have so much faith in the boy? And so much genuine enjoyment at having been knocked to the ground by him? A proud, future royal shouldn’t take such pride in his defeat, should he?
Revali carefully folded his wings as he stepped out onto the open deck of Vah Medoh. Up here, the cold night sky was clear, and the millions of stars gave the impression that they were listening to him. It helped him feel less alone.
“How can Mipha’s brother fail to see that Link is nothing but a fluke? Just a boy.”
Yes, a boy. A boy with skill and potential and ferocity that he, the greatest Rito warrior, had failed to match up to. A boy who was lackadaisical about his abilities, but took to his duty with pride. But just a boy. Link had worked his way up to being the Princess’ assigned bodyguard, he hadn’t won that position merely by luck, but it wasn’t as if the boy even had to try after that.
Not like he did.
As for Sidon, he’d been fond of the boy ever since he’d arrived from the far future with Teba, Riju, Patricia, and Yunobo. Truthfully, all of the descendants were good friends with Link (annoyingly so), but Sidon acted as though he and Link had something. And Link had never turned the Prince away.
They were close, and Revali couldn’t stand it. Link was his rival. His.
It was even worse now that Link had proven Sidon correct, pushing the Rito further away, and making the gnarled vines of jealousy tighten around his heart. Every beat of it said Link, Link, Link.
Revali sighed deeply as he rested against the control panel of his Divine Beast. It let out a soft, mournful coo into the vast sky, as if sympathising with him. Revali softly patted the mechanical bird’s stone tiles. Vah Medoh was the only one whom he felt comfortable enough being vulnerable around, and the only one who knew how much the Champion ached for the boy. The Divine Beast wouldn’t tell, after all.
“You’re a good friend.”
---
The following day, no one talked about what had transpired. Good, Revali thought. No one needed to know of his embarrassing slip of the tongue. He could forget about it.
And to his relief, Link had been absent for most of the time. Apparently, he was accompanying the Princess and the Sheikah, something about the two of them enhancing their little pet Guardian’s weapons. They’d be gone for the night.
Though he would never admit it, the Champion felt the boy’s absence. And Sidon didn’t help. The Prince hadn’t stopped talking about him all day, even when the sun had gone down.
“He really is the legendary hero I remember. And to think, he’s still so young!”
Yes, he is. Revali huffed, drawing his wings around himself. He tried not to give the impression that he was listening to the Zora, who was mostly talking to himself.
“His flawlessness with that sword is extraordinary. I’ve never seen anything like it in all my years.”
Ugh. That extra time he’d been with Link. The time Revali would have missed out on, if it weren’t for Teba and the boy.
“There’s no doubt in my mind. My heart swells whenever I see him.”
“With all due respect, Your Highness.” Revali opened his eyes at last and darted a look at the scarlet Zora. “I think everyone in Hyrule has just about reached their capacity hearing about the boy for one day.”
Sidon, unfazed as always, grinned and gave the Champion his signature salute. “Quite right, my friend.” Friend, UGH. Mipha’s brother was agonising. “I just can’t seem to help myself. But I’ll certainly be more mindful of my rhetoric from now on.”
The Rito glanced away. “That would be appreciated.”
The Zora continued guiding the cotton cloth down the handle of his sword. Rarely used, but still a vital asset that he was never without. The two fell silent, with Revali keeping a discreet eye on Sidon’s movements. Even through the quietness, Revali could still hear Sidon’s thoughts. Link, Link, Link. Or were they his own?
Deciding to change the subject, the navy bird lifted his head to the looming dark clouds above them. “I never got the chance to thank your sister for her efforts. Healing me after yesterday.” Yes, he was grateful. Not only for her magic, but for the way Mipha had agreed to keep quiet about Revali approaching her to ask for her nursing.
“Ah, yes, she is truly a treasure. My sister will become a phenomenal queen when it is her time.”
“She is a great fan of him too, isn’t she?”
“Pardon?” The Zora Prince looked back at the Rito Champion. Damn it. With a mere few words, the conversation was once again about the Hylian. “You mean Link? Why yes, the two of them have been friends since Mipha was a hatchling.”
“I see.”
The two’s eyes met and locked for a second. Revali couldn’t ignore it. Sidon was directly challenging him for his hypocrisy. Oh Hylia, please don’t do this.
“You know, I find it interesting that you seem to spend so much of your time hating him. You ask me to refrain from merely mentioning his name, yet here we are again, just like yesterday.”
“Look. That whole thing was simply because I just wanted him to prove his capabilities. Nothing more.”
“And that was settled, yet I can sense how your feathers are still ruffled. Does Link really upset you that much?” The Zora Prince leaned closer to the Rito, leaning on one hand. Despite how tall and stocky Revali made himself out to be, he was no match for the tall physique of the royal Zora. And that smile, for Hylia’s sake! “Link really gets to you, doesn’t he? Almost like you cannot stop thinking about him.”
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
“I’m not. I’m merely speaking the truth.”
Oh Hylia, Sidon was enjoying this. Revali growled and stood, facing the Zora directly.
“Link is nothing to me. Just an irritating brat. I don’t know why you fawn over him so much!”
“I think you do know why.”
The Zora’s tone was as soft and pleasant as ever. Yet it was painful, the way he was taking Revali apart like this. Sidon’s fangs sparkled in that smile. “He can’t leave your mind, can he?”
“That’s nonsense. You don’t know anything, Your Highness.”
“I know Link. I know the way he works, the way he carries himself, the way he works through every set task meticulously and thoughtfully. I know the way he stretches, the way he expresses his tiredness, and the way he worries so much about everything. How he spends his time when not fighting for Hyrule. What he tells me in secret, in the darkest hours of night, when there’s nobody else around to see. His dedication, his perseverance, his tenacity, his kindness, his sincerity, his shame.”
It was the most Sidon had said for the last few minutes. With a softer expression, no longer teasing, he looked back at Revali. Gold met emerald. “I think you know him too. Perhaps the same way I do.”
For once, Revali had nothing. No rebuttal. The Zora had floored him figuratively. He stuttered for a few seconds, beak refusing to work.
“I’m not your enemy, Revali. We both have something in common.”
“No. You’re wrong.” The heat spreading on the Rito’s face was unbearable. He’d never felt so flustered in his life. Link’s face, his dear, careful, doll-like face, it wouldn’t leave his head. Sidon knew of Revali’s true feelings for the boy.
“You don’t have to be ashamed, you know. It’s okay to feel romantic notions for someone.”
“Right, that’s it!” Revali shot up and jabbed a feathery finger at the shark, eyes ablaze. “I do not need you to tell me how I feel! Nor do I require any relationship advice from the likes of you! You are out of line!”
At the Rito’s explosive words, Sidon merely laughed. The force was enough to make the nearby water pool ripple, as though it were laughing with him. “You’re not denying it then?”
The Zora brother felt the soft, fluffy tip of Revali’s finger nudge into his chest. “Listen here, Prince boy. Just stay out of my way. And furthermore, stay out of his way. He’s mine. Mine to triumph over. Understood?”
Turning his back and striding to the grassy incline, the Rito was about ready to fly off, when Sidon called out. “He likes you too, you know.”
Revali stopped, briefly looking over his shoulder.
“Excuse me?”
“I think you heard me. Don’t play coy.” The purring tone of the shark had now turned playful, almost flirtatious. “Link is very fond of you. I believe if you took the time to ask him, he’d be happy to explain himself to you.”
His words were still fluttering around in the Champion’s head, as unsteady and wild as a chick. Link was fond of him?
Well. Of course he would be.
“He…. Ah. He… told you that?”
“And much more, my friend. He has a big heart. He means no malice.”
“Hmph. That’s to be expected. Anyone would be daft to not be fond of me. I’m practically an idol.” Revali replied, his hands on his hips. To his surprise, the Zora Prince didn’t laugh this time. He merely flashed that silvery smile. “Why do you think he agreed to battle us both yesterday? The poor boy told me last night. He can’t stop thinking about you. Especially after your little “pretty head” remark.”
So Link had told Sidon. But at this point, Revali was past caring.
“I admit, I was somewhat confused at first.” The Prince continued. “It never occurred to me that someone can have romantic notions for more than one person at a time. But since love transcends everything, and knows no limits, of course it’s entirely possible.”
“So. You two are together.”
“Not officially. We’re not in what others may call a “relationship”. But one might say that we’re… courting.” For the first time that evening, it was Sidon was began to blush. His porcelain face turned a soft shade of blue, the same colour as a robin’s egg. “Where I’m from, Link and I are indeed together. Even in my time, Link has confessed that he always did find you attractive.”
Revali’s wings folded behind his back as he thought, his bow angled to the side against the weight of his arms. Was he okay with Link harbouring love for both himself and Sidon? Indeed, he’d prefer Link to have eyes only for him. But it wasn’t something he could help, he supposed.
“So… What do we do about this?” The Rito’s question was asked so quietly, Sidon could have pretended he hadn’t heard, if he wanted. The shark closed his eyes for a second to think.
“How about a rematch?”
Gritting his beak, Revali shook his head. “I don’t think I could withstand another gruelling defeat. I’m still recovering from the humiliation.” The Prince was rather
startled to see Revali be so down on himself. It wasn’t like him, and Sidon wanted to lift his spirits.
“That wasn’t what I meant, especially.”
Revali let out a short squawk as Sidon’s fingers took hold of his beak and turned his face towards him. “Between you and me, our hero is somewhat of a... Hmm. How best to say this.”
Revali swallowed. “Go on…” He said hoarsely.
“A "freak", as they say. Beneath the sheets, in the private quarters of our Domain.” The Prince’s eyes glowed deeply and it was enough to thoroughly embarrass the Rito.
“Sh-should you really be telling me this, Your Highness?”
“Probably not. But hopefully you catch my drift.” Pulling away, Sidon stood up properly and plunged deep into the icy water of the river. “Forgive me, but my sister will be wondering where I am. I must depart.” How in Hyrule could he regain his polite, courteous nature after telling such intimate details about the Hylian Champion?
“Think about what I have suggested, my friend.”
With that, the Prince dived back under the surface and swam away, leaving Revali baffled and alone.
That night, Revali had taken to his hammock in the privacy of his home in Rito Village. The thoughts he had of Link wouldn’t leave him alone, and he couldn’t help but feel that they would go with him to the grave.
---
“Ahem.”
Link had been preoccupied for the last twenty minutes. Apparently somehow a stone had lodged itself in the instep of his boot. The poor thing was ungraciously slapping the offending footwear against a larger rock. It drove the Rito insane.
“If you don’t mind, hero, some of us have better places to be. You’re lucky I’m kind enough to give you this opportunity to sort yourself out. You’re a mess. Anyone else would have used the chance to kill you.”
His lowered eyelids gave the impression of simple, but not unusual, annoyance from the bird. But the tone in his voice was so sharp, even Link couldn’t ignore it. With a last whack, the stone, no bigger than a grain of salt, dropped out into the soil. Whipping his boot back on, Link stood up and looked at the Rito, lightly clapping the palms of his hands together twice whilst returning Revali’s scowl.
“Happy?”
“Yes. Now, let us continue.”
With a gust of wind fierce enough to bring tears to the Hylian’s eyes, Revali launched himself into the air and aimed four bomb arrows at the boy. Not enough to do any real harm, just enough to stun. As they shot down to the ground, Link braced himself with his shield and dashed backwards with the grace he was lacking a few moments before. Landing like the softest, tiniest fairy, Link countered his step with a dash forward and did something Revali had never seen before.
Link aimed the Master Sword at the Champion and threw it, like a spear.
Revali barely had the time to process what was going on before his bow was knocked cleanly out of his wing, dropping heavily into the soil. The Master Sword had used the velocity of his Gale to sail upwards and stab into the bow’s drawstring, severing it. In less than a few seconds, Revali’s only weapon was destroyed.
“Yes, my friend!” Came a cheer that was all-too-familiar. Sidon had been watching from the side-lines and clapped vigorously, standing and sweeping the hero off his feet. Easy to do when you’re 10ft tall, Revali supposed.
Link laughed audibly enough to make the Rito’s jealous heartstrings tighten, beaming up at the Zora, who shamelessly combed his fingers through that golden hair. “Did you feel how much power you had in your throwing arm just from the angle? Like I said, finding the correct angle makes a huge difference, does it not?”
Ah. That’s where he’d learned it. Damn the Zora and their use of spears.
“I’d hardly call that fair.” Revali grumbled, dropping back to the ground. “The boy’s sword is a sword. To use it in any way other than its intended use is an insult, especially when it chose him.” Approaching the two, Revali tried to ignore just how close Link and the Zora Prince were right now. The way Sidon held and fussed over him, and how Link returned the affections, rubbing his cheek softly against the Zora’s collarbone. Revali remembered what Sidon had told him yesterday.
“Our hero is... somewhat of a “freak”, as they say.”
No. Don’t think about it.
Don’t imagine them together.
Don’t envision the dreamy, sweet, drunk expression Link might have as Sidon decorates his neck and shoulders with bites that might look vicious and rough to anyone else, yet the Prince means them as the utmost gesture of love. Don’t think about the boy’s tousled blonde locks cascading backwards into linen as the future Zora Champion scales his hands down that smooth torso, gripping ever so softly to Link’s curved hips, gliding his tongue over the sweet hollows of his inner thighs, dipping it thickly into those pink lips as he kissed the hero deeply and sucked out the breath from him, leaving him light-headed and vulnerable.
Don’t think about how delicious Link must sound when the Zora Prince fits so desperately into his much-smaller body, perhaps too small to accommodate him. Those voiceless cries that put any aria to shame. Don’t consider the idea that Link may ask for Sidon to withdraw so that he could slip down between the Zora’s lush thighs to taste him. Those soft blue eyes, suddenly so devilish, with a virgin’s blush that betrayed the sheer sin of this knight.
Revali’s cheeks were on fire, especially when his imagination teased him further, now granting him the image of Sidon reclining with the boy draped shamelessly over his lap, face hidden, mouth obviously busy. Sidon casts the same expression he gave the Rito last night as he curls a finger, beckoning him to join, with a silently promising grin.
“Hey.”
The Rito Champion blinked, snapped out of his thoughts. Link, now perched on Sidon’s shoulder, stopped waving, cocking an eyebrow with a smile. “You were a million miles away there, you know.” He signed, before softly spinning an index finger up and away from his temple, the sign for “daydream”.
“Y-Yes. I’m fine.” For Hylia’s sake, stop dodging the issue! “I-it’s just…” Revali paused, turning to his side and casting a low look at the two. “I just wish you were more considerate of your PDA. I’m starting to feel like a third wheel here.”
Sidon’s smile lessened, and he allowed Link to drop swiftly to the ground, stepping towards the Rito. “Revali, it doesn’t have to be this way.” He signed, keeping his expression soft. “I want to get along with you. I don’t want us to fight like this.” Straightening up, Link swallowed and dared a warm smile, meeting the Rito’s piercing eyes. “I like you, Revali.”
This time, Revali didn’t look away. His words were stuck in his throat. “I…” He couldn’t manage it. He wanted so badly to say it back. But he couldn’t. It would mean that all of his prior disdain had been a clear lie. The Rito started a bit when Sidon placed a hand on his shoulder. It was unexpected, but this time, Revali didn’t shrug him off, not for the way Sidon was looking at him tenderly. Yes, he was understood. “This… “rematch”, you’d proposed.” The Prince started, his tone contemplative. “It might give you what you’ve been longing for, friend.”
This was dangerous, surely?
Revali had never let his guard down before with anyone. He’d always felt that to do so allowed for enemies to make you an easy target. But the two here with him… They weren’t his enemies. Link wasn’t his enemy.
Link was his ally, and had admitted that he liked the Rito.
Revali was tired. Tired of having to fight all the time with himself. Tired of having to keep up a front that was only weakening everyday. If he kept this up, he’d have no mental strength left to fight Ganon.
Revali looked from Sidon back to Link, who was now agonisingly close to the Rito. In silence, the Hylian’s rough, gloved hands danced along the Rito’s shoulders and he leaned up, standing on tiptoe to press his lips against the Rito’s sharp beak. The gesture was so light that it could almost have been ignored, but Revali, after recovering from the initial shock at the contact, found his wings folding themselves around the boy’s smaller frame. Though of course, he couldn’t kiss Link back, his eyes fell shut and he leant his forehead, gently touching the bridge between his brows against Link’s own. With his beak tucked against Link’s neck, Revali returned the gesture in the traditional Rito way, an approximation of a kiss. He heard Link's feathery sigh of bliss, and shivered as those wandering hands smoothed up the back of his neck to guide him further, deepening their "kiss". The boy in his arms was warm, so warm, and so soft.
Yes, this is what he'd been craving.
Pulling away at last, Link breathed out with a grin, eyes wide with excitement. He leaned his head tenderly into the hand Sidon graced around his jaw, rubbing his cheek against the shark's palm. His cheeks were pink.
"Perhaps we ought to... take this to a dwelling more secluded?" The Zora suggested, and cleared his throat, though there was that unmistakably flirtatious look from before.
"Haven't you had your time already, Your Highness? Surely your family taught you to share." Revali barked, keeping the boy close in his wings.
"Ah, yes, but here's the thing, my friend." Like before, Revali found his beak delicately touched by the clawed fingertips of the shark prince, angled upwards to meet his golden eyes. They sparkled as a glint of fang flashed in that smile. "We Zora can be rather possessive, you see. If you want to take this treasure from my arms, you'll have to pry him out from my grip.”
Oho. This is how it would be then. Two predators fighting over their prey.
Revali’s brows furrowed and he finally broke a smile for the first time that day. All in response to the Prince’s dares.
“With pleasure, Your Highness.” He purred.
Link was trembling, clearly aflutter at the idea of his two crushes fighting over him, but this time for passion’s sake, and not for want of proving anything. Revali noticed, and loosened his hold on the boy, giving him a glare that he couldn’t avoid, that made him weak in the knees.
“That’s what you want is it?” Revali purred, running a finger down the boy’s flushed face. “The two of us competing to see who can give you the most ecstasy?”
“The most fearsome predators in all of Hyrule, taking on the so-called “knight”. Who is going to leave you more ruined? Shall we find out?” Sidon whispered into the Hylian’s pointed ear, giving it a soft kiss.
Gliding his lips up that feathery digit, Link gave the Rito a wink and returned the Zora’s grin, before nodding.
“Yes.”
---
Normally, Revali would have resented the idea of using his clearly-superior bedroom skills in the dwelling of his competition, but it was clear that it would provide the better stage for this duel to take place. More privacy, for one. And emptier too, for the other Zora troops were working with Mipha.
Upon arriving, Link took hold of Revali’s hands and pulled him to the bed, scooting back on it to give the Rito room. Just like before, the blond wound his arms around Revali’s neck and gifted him with more of those deliciously sinful kisses that made the bird want to melt. He was rather surprised to feel Sidon helping to loosen his various leather straps and unloop them from his shoulder-blades. The relief felt from the removal of his harness made the Rito crane his neck and fluffle out his feathers. Yes, that definitely felt better. Following with his cuirass and belt, Revali softly batted away the Zora’s hands when they worried the knot of his rich blue scarf. “I want this boy to remember who is gifting him his euphoria. And…” Leaning over, the Rito pityingly patted Sidon’s shoulder, smirking. “With all due respect, you are not a Champion.”
“But I am a prince, Master Revali. And commoners should know their place.” Sidon easily nudged the Rito away and ignored the fury in Revali’s death glare that followed. Instead, he focused his attention on Link then, pulling the lad closer to him and sifting him out of his gorgeous blue tunic, loosening the beige undershirt. Link arched his back and whined when the Zora touched him with his fingertips, golden claws tracing the lines of his collarbone and ribs. “Yes, there’s my good boy.” Sidon’s voice was silvery, and still musical despite being so soft and light. “Let me see all of those pretty painted bruises. It must be so difficult to hide them, no?”
True enough, as Link’s vest was unwrapped from his chest, Revali saw the way that his gently tanned skin was an earthly bed for the most exquisite blooms of blue nightshades and armoranths. Dotted along his shoulders, down his wrists, literal love bites darkened the boy’s complexion. Every few inches of skin, Revali noticed small rings of sanguine dotted lines. Some were scabbed over, others looked more fresh. The Champion cocked an eyebrow, clicking his tongue. “Impressive.”
Link grinned and arched his neck, his expression one of pride, as if to say “Yes, look what he can do.”
“Merely a blessing from Hylia herself.” Sidon chuckled in mock-humility. “And there’s plenty more to come.” The shark slid a hand beneath Link’s head and wound his locks around his fingers, using the leverage to tug his head to the left, baring more skin to mark. Link squirmed and whimpered when Sidon graced his jawline with those marble lips, adoring their softness and his nerves racing at the realisation that the Prince quite literally had a mouth full of knives. And, as though reading his mind, Sidon laved a blank patch with his tongue, in preparation to soothe the anticipation. A second later, Link struggled and gasped out loudly when the Prince locked his jaws around the curve of his neck, teeth sinking in with little resistance.
Revali was enchanted as he watched, though he’d never admit to it. It was morbidly fascinating to watch how with each time Sidon swallowed the swell of blood that the boy released, the ruptured flesh bloomed purple. It beckoned that familiar warmth to rise up in the bird’s loins, akin to what he had felt the previous night, though tenfold. Groaning, Revali decided to remind the two of his presence, and ran his thickly-feathered hands up Link’s smooth torso. Link’s breath hitched and his eyes cracked open, as the soft tips of Revali’s wings graced his skin like the most comforting, swaddling blanket the hero had ever known. All Link wanted to do was cling to the Rito’s fingers with his own and keep him there, maybe pulling him down to feel his softly-toned arms close around him. Revali’s feathers twitched when they brushed over two strange buds that peaked out from the centre of each of the boy’s pectorals. He’d never seen anything like them before.
“What the…?”
But he couldn’t ignore the way Link keened as they were lightly touched, and the boy desperately clung to his fingers, holding each wing against his chest, almost trying to grind his chest into them. And Revali could swear that each time he did, they became tighter, firmer, more responsive.
“Oh. Yes.” Sidon had released the Hylian’s neck and caught sight of the Champion’s ministrations and laughed breathily. “Another wonder of our hero’s gorgeous body. Keep touching them and see what happens, Revali. They’re a lot of fun.”
Indeed, Link’s movements and sounds became more vulgar as he regarded the Rito, running his tongue along his lips. Bumping his hips upwards, a gentle bulge nudged itself in the crook of the Rito’s elbow. Revali’s eyes darkened, and he smirked, leaning over Link and ghosting his ear with the tip of his beak, softly lapping the jewelled lobe with his tongue.
“What a little whore.”
At his rival’s choice of words, Link panted, his breath warm and dewy enough to dampen the feathers he clutched so desperately to his chest. With the weight of the Champion against his body, laying in the lap of the reclining Zora Prince, Link was in heaven. “Just this is enough to excite you? You’re even more sensitive than usual, my pearl.” Sidon mused, his fingertips lightly wiping away the sweat from the hero’s brow. Opening his eyes, Link sighed with a smile and used his hands.
“It’s because you’re here.” He replied, pointing the tips of his fingers onto the base of his other palm and pointing at Revali. Not that he would ever show it, but this small sentiment made the Rito’s heart swell. Once again thankful that his feathers hid his blushing, Revali chuckled. “Naturally,” He hummed. “Anyone would be lucky to have me as their partner. So make the most of this, you little runt.”
The Rito suddenly let out a rather unflattering squawk when a hand sifted through his braids, gently tugging on them at the ends. “Hey!” He snarled at the Zora, who was watching him with lidded, albeit unimpressed, eyes.
“No need to be rude, friend. If you continue your verbal assault on my dearest then I’ll be forced to, as a figure of authority, sentence you to punishment.” Sidon murmured.
“You’ll have to catch me first, you bloodthirsty water horror. Your flowery little laws don’t apply to me.” Revali snapped.
“Goodness me. Such language.”
The Champion suddenly found himself pinned on his back by the Prince, who leant over him resting on his elbows, whilst gently smoothing his fingers over the bird’s cheek feathers. He grinned when Revali shivered and whimpered. “Now now, let’s not fight.” His tone was sugary, and his expression was almost ecstatic at the flustered struggling of the Rito warrior, whose feathers puffed out when he noticed Link crawling up to him. Goddess, the boy should be damned by Hylia for looking as tempting as he did. “How dare you?!” Revali shrieked, struggling, but even his vast wings were nothing in size compared to the Zora’s hands, and easily held in place. “You damn shark!”
When Link’s hands smoothed over the lovely midnight-blue feathers of Revali’s sides, he tried not to let the frantic beating of his heart distract him from the way the boy gently shushed him, kissing him softly between the eyes. “Our turn now.” He gestured.
This wasn’t what the Rito had planned. He was supposed to lavish the lad, not the other way round! As for Sidon, he was making his own feelings known, with the way he lovingly graced the side of the bird’s face and jaw with soft kisses much like he’d done with Link earlier. “Just relax, Master Revali.” He soothed. “You’ve had so much pressure to cope with, as a Champion, correct? No doubt on your own, too.”
Revali could hardly form words in response, it was hard enough to think when Link kissed and ran his tongue along the soft feathers where his fingers had touched him. Getting dangerously low, Link lapped softly at Revali’s lower abdomen, knowing that it would be sensitive. He smirked at the killer stare the bird shot in his direction. “Y-you nasty little pervert…”
Link stuck his tongue out lewdly in return, coming to rest his hands on the billowy, downy swell of Revali’s hips, gently edging them apart.
“Wait!”
At the Rito’s panicked tone, Sidon and Link stopped, alarmed. “Is everything okay, friend?” Sidon asked softly, his voice now genuinely concerned. “Did I hurt you?” Link signed, his eyes worried.
“I-It’s just…” Revali trailed off and shut his eyes in embarrassment, frowning as he turned away. “I’m a Rito, we… We don’t… Have… L-like you both, we don’t…”
The Prince was silent for a few seconds, his eyes widened, trying to understand the Champion’s meaning. When it clicked in his mind, he beamed lightly. “That’s okay. We Zora are pretty similar. Everything is… internal, yes?”
Daring to open an eye, Revali glanced at Sidon for a second, before darting his view away with a single nod. Link chuckled softly and cupped the Rito’s face in his hands. He kissed the bird’s bill delicately. “That’s okay, Revali. Nothing is an issue.”
“Link is right. After all, you and I are one in the same, you see?” The Prince ran a hand down his own body, his marble skin weakly reflecting the dim light, before settling on the mound between his own thighs. The skin there was swollen, and with a swift drag of his fingertip, the flesh parted slightly to allow for a slickness to seep out. Revali was surprised, but couldn’t help feeling relieved.
“Y-Yes. I see. Um… Thanks.”
“Of course. Now then…” Link settled his weight against the bird’s lower body, coaxing his thighs to part. Revali kept his face turned away out of embarrassment, and Sidon distracted him with soft kisses and sucks to the neck, leaving his head spinning and his heart pounding. Sure enough, Link soon saw the split skin concealed beneath several layers of down. It looked fragile, soft, and delicate. “I’ll be careful,” He signed to Revali, who nodded back wordlessly, and tried not to strike out in reflex as the knight brought his face closer to his sex. Revali stifled a groan as the boy gently touched his opening, feathers sticky and thick with pheromones. The scent made Sidon growl softly, which made Revali nervous, until the Prince reassured him by lightly drawing circles with his thumbpad against his cheek.
Link pressed a finger softly into the bird’s parting, shuddering at the way it slicked into him so easily. It felt different to Sidon’s – closer, and definitely warmer. Link teased the Rito Champion by laying his thumb atop where his finger tugged inside, and gently pressed them together to pinch the bird’s flesh. Revali cried out, his thighs tensing and claws curling, and Sidon laughed softly. “What a lovely voice you have, Champion.”
“You… You’d better shut up, Your Highness...” Revali scowled, his voice strained as he panted, writhing as Link slowly pumped his digit in and out of his body.
“Oh, you can help me there, I think.” Sidon took one of Revali’s wings and kissed his fingers, lightly nipping at each feathery fingertip with his fangs. Revali felt the way his nerves tingled and how the slight ache spread through his fingers, softened when the Zora guided his hand down his body. Sidon purred at the soft feel, and soon realised that he didn’t need to continue encouraging the Champion, for when he released his wing, Revali continued on his own accord. The bird hissed as he traced the Prince’s sculptural muscles, and dared a grin when he met the point where his thighs met.
“Yes, Revali, that’s it…” Sidon sighed, leaning his head back as Revali trailed his fingers along the Zora’s own slit, feeling a similar wetness seep into his feathers.
“Heh. Seems I can even make a prince weak in the knees, hm?” Finding the Prince’s vantage point, Revali suddenly pulled himself away from Link, rolling over so that Sidon was on his back, his other hand grasped around the Prince’s throat. He ground the heel of his palm into the silvery flesh and laughed when Sidon arched his back and grasped onto the sheets, slightly tearing them with his claws. “Yes, you’re both as bad as each other. Both unable to resist me.” Revali snarked, ascending Sidon’s chest to begin softly nipping at the gaps between the shark’s ornamental jewellery, delighting in the way Sidon grit his teeth and covered his mouth with his free hand. “I’ll have you reduced to pathetic little messes soon enough.” Leaning closer to Sidon, he narrowed his eyes and tilted his head to one side. “And I’ll prove to you that I can make Link scream the walls down.”
The Champion looked over at Link, who was biting his lip and returning the coy expression. “Over here. Now.” He ordered.
Link nodded, licking his lips, before straddling the Zora’s waist on his knees, back to his aquatic partner. “Pull them down.” Revali said, pointing at the boy’s leggings. Swallowing at the Champion’s authoritative tone, he did, now feeling his own blush paint his face as his throbbing arousal was exposed to the cool air. Revali tried to hold back his smirk at Link’s vulnerable state. There was nowhere to hide now. He leaned down, chuckling as his finger slipped into Sidon’s exposed slit and made the statuesque Zora shudder, his hand clamped over his mouth to hide his rather undignified sounds. “Don’t hold them back, Your Highness. I’m flattered, if anything.” Revali chortled smugly. Sidon responded by once again running his hand through the bird’s cascading plaits, making him shiver as he moved closer to the Hylian’s lower body, inhaling softly to experience his earthy scent. Rain, fire, metal, and salt lingered in the boy’s aromas, and he took in how plump and reddened Link’s arousal was. Releasing a breath, Revali’s tongue slipped out and slicked its way up the throbbing shaft, more of those organic notes spreading across his tastebuds as he savoured the knight. Link squirmed and whimpered, trying to restrain himself from bucking.
Why was that?
Ah. Revali’s red-painted eyes opened when he realised. Yes, the boy certainly wouldn’t want his sharp beak to snap shut here. “Don’t worry, Link. I won’t hurt you.” It was uncharacteristically soft, the way he spoke, so he made sure to chase away any thoughts Link had that he was softening up by nipping hastily at the toned flesh of his thighs. Soon, Link’s skin was a pretty pattern of faded shark bites and fresh, blooming half-triangles plucked into his skin by the Rito’s skilled bill. That was better.
When he felt that the knight deserved a little mercy, Revali once again continued inflicting his tongue on the pulsing organ resting against it, noticing how its flavour became saltier. Meanwhile, he continued to gently drive his finger into the sticky, wet folds of the royal Zora. Truthfully, he couldn’t feel any indications of a concealed shaft, but maybe it just needed more encouraging. Or maybe the Prince was just too proud. Or maybe simply had stronger tolerance. That wouldn’t do.
With Link crying out and prettily seeping out a thin, watery residue from his tip, Revali pulled away, feeling the way his tongue was slightly cramped and his jaw somewhat aching from holding it open. Not that he’d admit it, of course.
The Rito started when, after lifting himself back up and removing his soaked digit from the Zora’s opening, Link caught a hold of his face and shocked him by sinking his tongue deep into the Rito’s mouth, to taste himself, no doubt. How repulsive.
Revali panted when the hero pulled away, the bridge of bubbled spit joining them together matched with the softness of Link’s fingertips on his sensitive feathers. He glared at Link. “You’re vulgar, you know that?”
“Worked to shut you up for a minute, didn’t it?” Link responded, his tongue peeking out to lap up the drop of Revali’s saliva on the corner of his lip.
“And what a clever trick it was, my pearl. Look.” Sidon purred, sitting up slightly and reaching over to shamelessly grope the Rito between the legs again. This time, Revali couldn’t push away, not when the shark’s fingers deftly and carefully brought his arousal to the surface, slipping out of his cloaca to burn softly in the cool air. It was thick at the base, a deep scarlet that became lighter towards the tip, which was thinner and more pointed. With Link and Revali so close in proximity, Sidon was easily able to wrap his larger hand around both boys’ erections, squeezing softly as he pumped them slowly. Revali and Link both cried out and struggled, but found purchase by holding onto one another, Link’s impish face concealed in the Rito’s fluffy plumage. When Revali’s emerald eyes cracked open, his beak was once again softly pried apart by the royal Zora, whose own tongue had reached out to curl around the Champion’s. Hylia, it was so thick, easily twice the length of his own, and Revali could see himself climaxing within seconds if it got too close to the organ held within his palm against Link’s. He made sure to keep this in mind.
Link suddenly moaned loudly and pushed himself up and apart from Revali, his hands resting against the Rito’s chest, glancing over his shoulder at the Zora, pulling away from kissing the Champion to watch his friend. “Not yet,” Link signed frantically, his hands faced down flat, moving outwards, almost like a mini display of breaststroke, the Zora thought. “I don’t want to finish yet.”
“But you’re close, are you?” Sidon hummed thoughtfully, finally releasing the two of them. “Excellent.”
Revali collapsed onto his back with Link on top, and he smugly held the blond close in his wings, nuzzling the top of his head possessively. “Ready for me to fuck you, “Knight Who Seals the Darkness”?” He snarled softly. Although unintentional, Revali couldn’t help the scoff that came in his tone at the boy’s official title, but it made Link groan and arch into him, grinding that pretty cock into the Rito’s navel, dripping a little stickiness as he moved.
“I think, actually, he may like to enjoy me first, Revali. Not that you need feel pressured to meet my standard.” Sidon rumbled, leaning over Link and planting more kisses along his shoulder-blades, gently sifting apart Revali’s wings. It was then that the Rito was able to glance over the boy’s shoulder and his eyes widened. Jutting from the Zora’s swollen opening, two claspers protruded side-by-side. They were narrow, yet long, and thinned out at the ends. The Prince leaned over and with a wet slick, ground himself into the soft, curved shape of Link’s rear. Revali’s wings skimmed down to hold him there and he marvelled at how plump and firm the hero was there, bumping his own arousal into Link’s with a guttural groan.
“You would just love to be in my position right now, yes, Champion?” Sidon snarked, biting his lip at the Rito, making each of his movements flow in time with Link’s lovely singing. Truth be told, the only time the hero’s voice was heard was when he was emoting, whether in pain, sadness, surprise, fear, joy, and pleasure. It was a melody Revali would make sure he’d carry with him always.
“Both of you…” The knight signed as best he could, between sighing and crying out as he tried not to grind too much on the three lengths teasing his loins. He placed his two index fingers side-by-side, the sign for “both”. “I want you both.” He gestured, lightly sweeping one hand down his chest, and then repeating the former sign. Revali’s eyes widened.
“At the same time?”
Link nodded.
“Link… Are you sure that’s a good idea? We’re both much stronger than you, and physiologically different. The so-called Hero of Hyrule is no good to anyone if he’s in chronic pain after this.”
“Is that concern I’m hearing, Master Revali?” Sidon joked. Goddess, Revali would hit him if he weren’t waylaid with Link.
“You’ll be the one concerned in a minute, Prince boy. Concerned with the teeth I’ll have smacked right out of your jaw.” Ignoring Sidon for a minute, Revali drew Link close, looking into those soft, glazed eyes. “Do you really want this, Link?”
Whatever response he was expecting certainly wasn’t what he got, for glassy tears suddenly welled over in his rival’s eyes, and he sniffled adorably, swallowing. Baffled, Revali held him at arm’s length.
“What’s the matter?! Don’t tell me you’re the type who cries during sex.”
Link’s tears didn’t mask the brief death glare the Rito received from the unimpressed Hylian. “Crying during sex is not a bad thing, idiot.” Those deep blues softened again. “I’m just happy is all. You being so caring… It means you must like me, right?”
Laughing softly, Revali drew Link close again, resting his head against his collarbone, nuzzling him fondly. “I always liked you, you asinine boy. Just couldn’t ever admit it to myself.”
After soothing Link’s tears with a flurry of kisses and soft words, the Rito and the Zora angled themselves appropriately. Link lay nestled against the Champion, wings blanketing him, whilst the boy’s face was cupped from behind by the Prince, who lay against the boy’s shoulder, kissing and suckling. “You’re ready now, hero. Just let us make you feel euphoric.” Sidon whispered, growling at the lovely sigh Link let out. “Yes, you’re ours now. No one else’s. Ours to play with and lavish.” Revali hummed into the knight’s other ear. Out of the kindness of his heart, Sidon agreed to let Revali taste Link first. Grasping him in his hand, Link sang out with the Rito as he gently guided himself in. Goddess, the heat, the tightness, the sheer closeness, it made Revali wish he had the ability to sweat. His boy was ecstasy manifested, Revali had never felt so connected with someone, it was though he and Link were joined in more ways than just physically.
“Ah, Link, yes, y-yes, that’s it…” Such undignified sounds were tumbling from his beak, but honestly, Revali couldn’t care less. He kept Link in place and used the leverage to move hard into him, and it wasn’t long before he found the one hidden spot that brought out the most divine song from Link. “Good boy, good boy, keep going.” Revali cooed into his ear, nipping softly at the flesh between his neck and shoulder.
From behind, Sidon leaned over to plant a kiss on Revali’s forehead, one of his hands coming up to stroke his cheek, bringing the Rito and the Hylian together to kiss and lock their tongues together. He watched for a few blissful seconds, before splitting his claspers to let them close around the root of Revali’s shaft and Link’s straining, touch-starved cock. He did believe that the hero could take the two of them together, but thinking on what Revali said, they couldn’t afford for Link to be injured. Instead, he opted to wrap his own erections around his partners’, and helped Revali push the Champion back and forth, generating enough wetness and stimulation to satisfy everyone.
“Yes, Link, darling, you’re so good for us.” Sidon whispered. “Letting us both have you, you’re truly a work of art, you know that? We love you so much.” The room was filled with their song of rapture. Every so often, Revali or Sidon would plant a deep, heavy kiss on the hero's lips, and the gratuitous slick seeping from Sidon's opening made more than enough required wetness. At one point, Revali pulled out, to allow Sidon to smooth some of that slick onto him, and it made the re-entry so blissful that the Champion almost passed out. This time, the Rito could feel that he was going deeper, and the way Link squirmed in his wings proved that.
He kept the rhythm, but he could feel that Sidon was the one who was truly in control, for it was him who guided their motions. Using his size, he was easily able to overpower the two Champions. Those gold eyes of his sparkled with glee and his growling was deep and loud enough to rumble through the three of them. His own throbbing claspers them tight, pushing them closer and closer to the edge.
Link was a mess. Boneless against the Rito, he could barely stand to support his own weight, filled so deeply and thickly with his rival's sex, his own being caressed and toyed with by his lover. He writhed in between them, sweat pouring down his skin, slicking his fringe to his temples, his hair tie long lost in their tangle. He felt the barrage of Revali in him and as the Rito became rougher and harder with each second, he wondered if this was the result of Revali's pent-up frustration coming out. Through barely-open eyes, the blond watched how Revali never lost his gaze with the boy.
As for Sidon, Link was grateful he was there, for it was him who was gyrating the hero for Revali's sake, as he could no longer feel his limbs. But as rough as their pace was, he was fairly sure that the Zora was holding back. He was, after all, bigger than the both of them put together. And, being the prince that he was, he was putting them above himself.
It was this that finally brought Link to the top, and tipped him over. He cried out, his voice broken and fragmented, as he arched back and his hot release soaked into Sidon's claspers and into the Champion's feathers.
"Yes, Link!" Revali cried out, the boy's tightness becoming too much for him.
"Together, Revali," Sidon panted. "Together, for Link...!"
Right on cue, as though they shared the same thought, Revali and Sidon each bit down hard on one of Link's shoulders. Link barely had any strength left in him to scream, so instead his aftershock of bliss came out as a breathless sob. He felt the ferocious bite of his predatory partners, Sidon's fangs piercing his taut skin cleanly, Revali's bill puncturing and drawing blood with little effort.
Was this how a mouse or a guppy felt, when ensnared by their natural hunters? Sharp, fiery pain, and then the calm after the storm?
No. This wasn't death.
When Link's vision began to return to him, the sweet and soft haze of his afterglow fading a little, he was where he belonged. Clasped in the wings of his former rival, held close to the chest of the prince he knew and loved so much. As his senses returned to him, Link heard his partners jokingly bicker with each other about the mess they'd both made. And true enough, as the hero directed his focus down his body, he found his loins, his thighs, and the sheets below soaked. But for the time being, Link didn't care.
Instead, as Sidon and Revali exchanged fond nuzzles and held Link together taking turns to pass a damp cloth over his shoulders to soothe the sting of his new marks, the boy felt a bubble rising in his chest. As it floated slowly to the surface, once again, tears ran down his damp cheeks, and he smiled. It was a smile that neither Sidon nor Revali had ever seen, one that suggested that the so-called knight was, for the time being, forgetting about the weight and pressures of the kingdom and everyone's safety. Laying here, in their arms, Link let their love wash over him, the boy that he was. Just a boy.
Just a boy, Revali thought, watching the hero silently fall asleep against him. He's just a boy.
---
"Come on Link, you can't be serious! Where's your head at, eh?"
Revali tapped his foot impatiently in the snow, watching as his rival scratched the back of his head in apology, grinning shyly at the Rito. It was like Link wasn't even trying to hit him with his sword.
"Our friend is right, Link. You seem distracted today." Sidon quipped, slinging one of his tridents over his shoulder, looking worriedly at the blond.
"I just wanted to say thank you, is all." Link signed, after a minute. "You both allowed me to forget about everything for a while. You know, the future of Hyrule and everything."
Revali scoffed and batted at the boy, as if to dismiss his claim. "Think nothing of it. After all, I can be incredibly distracting. So the fault isn't your own." He replied with a smirk.
"For once, I agree with you, Master Revali." Sidon chuckled, striking the Rito his flashy pose. Revali rolled his eyes and turned on his heel, exasperated.
"I can't be bothered with you two. Shut up and take me on before you come out with any more sickening stuff."
Link grinned, catching the smile in the Rito's eye.
Beneath his heavy winter furs, the new marks of his partners faintly burned in unison.
