A Dream Come True

Summary:

Dean has three beautiful pups, eight year old Emma and seven month old twins Charlotte and Sophie, and his oldest is in second grade. One afternoon she's knocked down by another student when they were leaving the building and the handsome Vice-Principal walks her out to explain what happened. He'd been looking for a reason to approach the beautiful Omega, and now he had it. Sparks fly and the attraction is strong but is this just a dream or is it a reality?

Notes:

This is another one I had lingering in my docs. It's not horribly old, but I like the concept so I thought I'd share it on here. Hopefully you all will like it too.

I'm putting this up in chapters, not all at once.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: The Vice Princial

Chapter Text

There were a lot of reasons why people noticed Dean Winchester. He was charismatic, friendly and likeable, and he knew how to charm. He was incredibly gorgeous, enough so that he’d modeled on and off for more than twenty years. People liked looking at him and fantasizing about what it would be like to have him for themselves. He was also an Omega. The people he encountered in his day to day life were attracted for that reason alone. That was probably what bothered him the most. It was the reason he avoided the Alphas and Betas that approached him. They weren’t interested in his brains or anything else about him. It was why, when his biological clock started ticking, he started thinking of having a family and of having pups. By the time he reached his thirties he was almost desperate with the need to have a pup. Since he couldn’t find a mate that would respect him and want him for something other than his looks or orientation he decided he’d have pups without one.

Every weekday morning he dropped his daughter Emma off at school, and every afternoon he picked her up. It was annoying that other parents would hit on him, especially when a vast majority of them were mated. The fact that he had pups never seemed to bother them, but it bothered him. He wanted to focus on his children, not on fielding unwanted advances. So he ignored them to the best of his ability. One day though he caught the attention of an Alpha, and for the first time in his adult life he wasn’t quite as eager to push them away.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

It was a bright, sunny afternoon in April when he was waiting for the school bell to ring and for Emma to appear. People were watching him with amusement and fondness as he sang and danced around in a circle while they waited for the bell to ring. He wasn’t doing it to embarrass himself, no, it was to keep his twins entertained until their sister got out of school.

In the warmer weather he liked walking Emma to and from school. Today’s weather had been perfect, and the twins enjoyed the walk too. He used two slings to carry them rather than putting them in a stroller and currently Charlotte was in the sling on his chest and Sophia, or Sophie for short was on his back. She was quiet for the most part, content to just look around at all of the gathering parents but Charlotte was fussing. She always calmed when he sang to her, but she smiled happily when he danced and bounced around with her. While they waited, he danced a little and sang nursery rhymes, not caring what other people might think. His little girls were what mattered the most. Charlotte was staring up at him with a wide, toothless smile and gurgling excitedly. He smiled and kissed her forehead before doing a little spin. When the bell rang he started watching the door but he didn’t stop his little song and dance. Once they were walking home he would stop because she’d be too interested in everything they passed to really listen to him. That was fine though.

After five minutes Emma finally appeared. She was holding the hand of a man Dean had never seen before. He was walking the little girl over to him. He stopped singing and dancing as his brows furrowed. When they reached him he looked down at his daughter. Her eyes were red and it was clear she’d been crying.

“What happened? Who are you?” His gaze fell on the man as Emma let go of him and took her mama’s hand.

“I am the vice principal. My name is Castiel Novak, but the children call me Mr. Novak. I wanted to bring Emma to you personally so you weren’t alarmed and upset with the school for not contacting you sooner. There wouldn’t have been a chance to because it just happened.”

“What just happened?” Dean looked at his daughter again. “Are you ok, Princess?”

“I fell,” She sniffled and wiped at her eyes.

“You fell?” He smoothed a lock of her honey blonde hair away from her face before looking at Mr. Novak again. “How did she fall?”

“It was when the bell rang. The children were in a rush to leave and one of the larger boys in her class, he pushed her aside and she fell. A few others stepped on her before she could get up. It was an accident and she’s ok. I checked her leg myself and while it hurts and will likely bruise, it’s not broken.” The man explained. Dean picked up on his scent. Mr. Novak was an Alpha. His blue eyes were warm and his smile friendly but when they fell on Charlotte he saw something on the Alpha’s face. It was almost like melancholy. He could tell Mr. Novak wasn’t mated but he pushed that thought aside.

“I get why you didn’t call me then. Where was her teacher?”

“Mrs. Hinkley went into labor in third period and we weren’t able to get a substitute fast enough, so I stepped in. I’ve been teaching for fifteen years, in case you were wondering.”

Dean cocked his head in confusion. He hadn’t been wondering and it was a curious thing that the vice principal felt the need to offer up that information.

“Well, I’m glad she’s ok. The boy that pushed her, was he reprimanded?”

“He was out the door and gone before I could catch up to him but I have his name and he will be spoken with tomorrow.” Mr. Novak held something out to him. It was an ice pack. Dean took it and with some effort managed to crouch down in front of his daughter. He lifted up her legging on her right leg and saw the bruise that was starting.

“Here, Baby, put this against your leg.” He pulled her pant leg back down as she pressed it against the sore spot but when he tried to stand back up he found that he couldn’t do it with nearly thirty pounds of pups weighing him down. The vice principal seemed to realize that and helped him back to his feet.

“Thanks.” He smiled and nodded towards the man. Mr. Novak smiled wider.

“Of course. I hadn’t realized you had two pups you were carrying. I wouldn’t have been able to get up easily either.”

Dean chuckled and looked down at Charlotte. Her green eyes were large and curious as she stared up at him. He kissed the top of her head and she smiled.

“I have two sisters,” Emma said. “That’s Charlotte,” She pointed to the pup on Dean’s chest. “And that’s Sophie.” She pointed to the one on his back. Mr. Novak moved around to Dean’s right side so he could see each of them.

“Oh, they’re so pretty! You’re a pretty girl, aren’t you,” He cooed to Charlotte. She smiled wide and gurgled as she kicked her little legs. He smiled at Sophie who was excited to get some attention too. When he looked up at Dean his smile and scent reflected his happiness. “How old are they?”

“Seven months,” Dean replied.

“They must keep you very busy.”

“That’s an understatement,” Dean laughed.

“Well, I will be covering Mrs. Hinkey’s class the rest of the week as there are not currently any substitutes available in this district. Next week we should have someone though. I will make sure she doesn’t get hurt again.”

“Thanks,” Dean said with all sincerity. “She’s so little and people tend to push her around. Kids can be mean sometimes. Emma, say thank you and goodbye.”

“Thank you, Mr. Novak,” She said as she straightened up again. “Bye.”

“Bye, Emma,” Mr. Novak smiled fondly at the little girl. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Bye,” Dean smiled and nodded at the man as he took his daughter’s hand and began walking away. The vice principal waved to Sophie who smiled and kicked her little legs excitedly.

Out on the street as they started walking Emma began filling her mama in on her day.

“I had a test today,” She grumbled.

“Oh? What subject?” He asked.

“Social Studies. We had to write down the continents and write their names on a map. I forgot where Europe is, and I couldn’t spell it right.” She seemed so upset by that.

“I know, honey, it’s a hard word to spell. How was the rest of your day though? How was spelling?”

“I got a sticker!” She exclaimed. “I spelled all the words right!”

“That’s good!” He said with a wide smile on his face. “I’m so proud of you!”

The rest of the walk home was pleasant and he listened to her ramble on about her day, about her friends, about recess, and everything else that she’d experienced. His mind kept going back to the vice-principal though. The man had smelled absolutely wonderful and he was gorgeous. He was nice too. Emma was in second grade so how had he never noticed the man before? That was a question he couldn’t shake, even as he tucked his girls into bed that night those blue eyes and that smile haunted him. He chalked it up to his impending heat. Some Alphas seemed to be more enticing right before it arrived. Yes, that had to be it. He had better things to do than dream of tall, handsome Alphas with dreamy blue eyes.

He might just be screwed.
