"No blonde hair and blue eyes, no super serum, no powers except the belief that we can do better." Bucky quoted, as Sam came back. The adrenaline was coming down and so was the crashing realization that Karlie was gone.
He pulled Sam into a short hug, smiling against the suit. "James, everything okay?" Sam chuckled, hugging him back.
"James, you serious?" The assassin pulled away, "Mhm" Sam answered, boldly grabbing his hand and started walking. "I'm just going to assume that this is a platonic hold.No way, he's into me."Bucky thought "So, what's bothering you?" He asked, Sam, looked like he was going to burst with sadness.
"Nothing." "Sam," "She was just a teenager, man. A misguided one but a teen nonetheless. Do you know what she said to me before she died? She told me she was sorry. I just feel like it was my fault" Sam tried to sound like he wasn't going to cry but failed miserably.
Bucky stopped near the bridge "Listen, Sam, sometimes things may seem like your fault but they aren't. Yeah, it'll suck but don't go down that rabbit hole. And if it's anyone's fault it's Sharon's!" He smiled at Sam
"Seems like you should take your own advice sometimes soldier." Sam joked back.
"God, do you ever shut up?" The metal-armed man's eyes waltzed towards Sam's lips as he laughed.
"Maybe."Sam laughed back. They leaned on the railing and Barnes found himself admiring how the moonlight bounced off of Sam's skin and his eyes seemed to shine.
"See, I told you, that you have a staring prob-"Before Sam could finish the sentence, he was cut off by a sweet kiss.
His lips were soft, almost silken, and pillowy against Bucky's. He could feel fingers carding through his hair as they kissed.
Bucky pulled away for air and found himself smiling.
"I've always wanted to do that."
