Butterfly Touch

Summary:

Sometimes, one awkward moment is all it takes to set in motion a series of revelations that may, or may not, lead to romance.

Notes:

Just wanted to show a little love for this underrated ship that I find myself obsessing about.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Hadou twirls the only chair in his room to straddle it, arms propped loosely on the backrest. He averts his gaze but not before catching a glimpse of baby blue cotton panties as she does so. His whole face flushes.

Really, this situation was becoming more awkward by the minute.

Not only was she in his room with him, a mildly rare occurrence, but it was just the two of them, with Mirio nowhere to be found, which was extremely rare on a weekend such as this. His best friend had promised to go and visit Eri-chan today, or so he had said, otherwise they'd be hunting the Behemoth by now in MHW.

Still, Mirio's absence doesn't explain Hadou's presence in his room or the intense way she was looking at him right this moment, like she was trying her damnedest to read his mind, which he isn't entirely convinced she can't do. It's making him nervous— more so than normal. His fingers twitch.

It started out innocently enough when she caught him in the dorm's kitchen fixing himself a snack.

"Oh hey, Amajiki, what're you doing today?" she chirps, voice bright and bubbly this early in the morning.

“Hadou,” he says by way of greeting. “Nothing really, probably read a book or study."

"Can I join you?"

Ha? Hadou wasn't exactly a studying kind of person. Or a book person, for that matter. So maybe Tamaki heard it wrong.

"You want to study with me?" He says the words slowly, to make sure there's no misunderstanding.

Hadou rolls her eyes. "You can study. I'm just gonna keep you company," she says in that bright tone of hers.

Oh. That sounds more like her. His mind comes up blank when he tries to think of an excuse to say no, so Tamaki just nods. He almost asks why she would rather be spending time with him on a weekend than— well, whatever it is she usually does on a weekend. Come to think of it, she’s been hanging out more with him and Mirio, lately— but it’s still too early and he’s already past his quota of social interactions for the day so he says nothing.

"Great! I'll head up to your room in a while!" She's gone before he can say anything else.

Then it dawns on him that they’ll be alone together. In his room. The tips of his ears turn red.

***

Tamaki knows a lot of guys at school who fancy Hadou. She’s quite popular, after all. And pretty. And engaging. And strong. And kind. He could go on—

He'd seen guys confess to her, a few had even been upperclassmen in their earlier years in U.A. She usually gives them a smile to lessen the blow of her rejection. It makes him wonder sometimes why she never entertains any of them. Maybe she just wants to focus on being a hero. Maybe she doesn’t have time for relationships. Occasionally, she goes out with their female classmates for some "girl time" but more often than not, she’s always with Mirio, or him, or both. Mirio, he can understand, because Mirio is awesome and sociable and everything he wasn’t, which was fine. However, it still baffles Tamaki that Hadou would willingly choose to hang out with him, when he hardly says anything at all.

To be honest, she's the only girl Tamaki has been comfortable with, partly because he's known her since their freshman years. And partly because Hadou had a habit of forcing herself on both him and Mirio, until he pretty much got used to having her around.

Nonetheless, she was still a girl. And girls often got him into some really awkward situations. He just doesn't understand them.

So it comes to no surprise to him that he's in one such situation now. Hadou is still staring at him. She hasn't asked him a question in the past— he glances at the clock— seven minutes, which must be some kind of record for her.

She'd arrived in his room some time ago bearing more snacks, then claimed his chair to scroll through her phone while he sat on his bed to read. Once in a while, she'd fire rapid questions at him, in a typical Hadou way. Sometimes, she asked his opinion about some article she was reading. Other times, she just asked about school. Mostly, it was about anything and everything under the sun.

In short, it was their usual interaction.

But then, seven minutes ago, she'd turned quiet. And started gazing at him like he was some experiment to analyze. He can feel her gaze despite stubbornly keeping his own eyes on his book. He hasn't turned a page in the last five minutes, though, and each tick of the clock has his anxiety slowly reaching panic levels. Agreeing to let her come here was a big mis—

"What kind of girl do you like?"

If he’d been drinking something, he would’ve sputtered. That was what was on her mind? He darts her a baffled look. He really doesn't know what to make of this.

"I... don't know?"

Hadou frowns. "Why is your answer a question? You don't know what kind of girl you like?"

"Well, I haven't really thought about it..."

"Why not? Are you gay? Is Mirio your type?"

What? This line of questioning was giving him a headache.

"I'm not gay—"

"Nothing wrong if you were."

"I... I just don't see the point," Tamaki replies honestly. "What would a girl see in me, anyway?" He mumbles the last bit, and turns back to his book, thereby completely missing Hadou's incredulous reaction. There's a long pause, and then—

"Amajiki Tamaki.”

More than the use of his full name, it's Hadou's tone that makes him look up, only to recoil in shock when he finds her... right in his face. She's leaning over him with a stern expression, pink lips pressed tight in annoyance.

"W-Wha?!" He leans back to get away from her, and in his haste, ends up falling back on the bed. Tamaki uses his forearms as leverage and succeeds in bringing his torso slightly up.

"I'm a girl, you know." She growls as if he wasn't aware of that fact. Especially when she's practically crawling over him. She has one knee on his bed and both arms on either side of his hips. She's wearing a white, sleeveless shirt with UA's motto in big, bold letters and a dark blue skirt. The shirt is tight enough that the words "Plus Ultra" curve around her ample breasts.

"What are you doing?!" Tamaki doesn't even recognize his own voice. It’s suspiciously higher, closer to a squeak than he cares to admit. He's trying valiantly to slow down the beating of his heart, which had gone completely erratic. Eyes wide, he clumsily attempts to crawl backwards using his forearms.

"Calm down, Amajiki." Hadou climbs over him, effectively straddling him and halting all his efforts at escaping. If he weren't so flustered out of his mind, Tamaki might have noted the light blush dusting her cheeks.

Calm down? Calm down?! He was in a full blown panic. "H-Hadou!"

Hadou holds his face with both of her hands and forces him to look at her. "Relax, Amajiki. Breathe. It's just me. It's just Nejire. That's good. You're doing good."

He doesn't know how something like that would ever work, not with her so close to him that he can feel the heat of her skin, but magically, it does. He stops squirming, frozen in place as he gazes into her warm, blue eyes. He's familiar with the smell of her strawberry shampoo, being around her so much, but this is the first time he notices the lushness of her lips, the dimple on her left cheek, and even the almost invisible mole on her forehead. Had her button nose always been that cute?

And there was something else. Hadou is slightly flushed and breathing rapidly. It's ironic that she was able to calm him down when she, herself, was so... so... His brain adamantly refuses to supply the word excited.

And she's staring at his mouth now. Tamaki swallows. Hard. She probably caught him staring at her lips, so it was kind of a natural reaction for her to mimic the motion subconsciously. But somehow, her staring at his lips was making him feel all sorts of things.

"H-Hadou.." He tries again. Was she going to do what he thought she was going to do? The anticipation was both exciting and freaking him out, though not in equal parts. Freaking out was winning by a mile.

"I've told you many times to call me Nejire." She breathes out softly, not taking her eyes off his mouth. She leans closer. Her lips are mere centimeters away and he thinks that if he so much as breathes, they will end up kissing.

You call me Amajiki, is what he'd intended to say. Instead—

"I'm sorry," he blurts out.

At that, Nejire's gaze darts to his. Had she... had she crossed the line somewhere?

She realizes belatedly that she's probably making him very, very uncomfortable. What was she doing? It was her own fault. She'd been too forward, too fast. He's rejecting her and she can't even blame him. She's not prepared for the sudden overwhelming feeling of sadness at the thought of his rejection. He always sold himself short but in her eyes, he was admirable. She's known that she's liked him since their first year in hero school, but it was only at this moment, when the possibility of his rejection loomed over her like a dark cloud, that she realized just how much she wished she meant to him the same way he meant to her.

She hadn’t really meant to attack him like that. An article entitled “What Do Guys Like In A Girl (5 Things They Absolutely Love)” popped up in her feed and it occurred to her that she has no idea if she was even Tamaki’s type, hence the question earlier.

His answer perplexed her. The idiot simply could not see his own appeal and it was on the tip of her tongue to scold him and really make him see how utterly wrong he was. But then she'd been overly aggressive which was how they'd ended up like this and being so close to him made her forget her original intention.

Right now, she wants nothing more than to kiss him, to taste that mouth she'd spent many a night fantasizing about, to lose herself in his arms, to feel his tongue explore her own, to moan his name over and over while he—

God, he must think her so shameless.

He feels something shift, like a disturbance in the air. Tamaki watches her bright eyes go dim. Huh? What had he said? Was it something he did? Or did not do?

"Had- N-Nejire?"

Embarrassed, she pulls away from him, reddening. Tamaki can't decide whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.

"What's wrong?"

"I- I'm sorry." She refuses to meet his eyes. "I- I have to go now."

And just like that, he was alone.

***

"Alright," Mirio says after the third question and all he got in return was a glazed look from Tamaki. "Wanna tell me what's eating you?"

They're walking back to the dorms after school and Mirio had noticed something was off with Tamaki ever since this morning but figured his introverted friend would tell him when he was good and ready. Yet, it was already almost evening and Tamaki was as listless as he'd been all day.

Tamaki wonders if telling his best friend was the right thing to do. Well, in all aspects, he trusted Mirio with his very life and his friend wasn't socially inept like he was, so maybe he could help. He'd already lost a good amount of sleep replaying the scene with Nejire over and over, wondering what had caused her to practically run from his room. He'd seen her in class today but she'd been avoiding talking to him.

"Has Hadou ever expressed interest in anyone?"

Mirio's eyebrows shoot up in surprise and he doesn't answer immediately but gives Tamaki a long, assessing look. "You mean aside from you?"

Tamaki freezes in his tracks. "What?"

"Seriously, man? How have you never noticed?" Mirio looks aghast. "She's been crazy about you for years."

Tamaki stares at the blonde like he's the one who's crazy. "That's not funny," he deadpans.

Mirio's look turns serious, his reply surprising Tamaki. "No, it's not."

His best friend heaves a sigh and turns his head to stare up at the clouds, the late afternoon sun painting the sky in varying shades of pink and orange.

"You're as dense as a rock, Tamaki, but I'm not. Anyone with eyes can see that Hadou was into you almost from the start. She told me a long time ago that you, who hates any sort of attention, once spoke up against a group of guys from another school harassing her, and got beat up for it, since you refused to fight back."

Tamaki vaguely remembers that incident, two years ago. She'd scolded him, told him she could've taken care of them herself. He'd reminded her that using her quirk outside of school to harm anyone without a license could get her expelled. She'd brought him to Recovery Girl after that and stayed with him as often as she could until he got better.

She remembered that?

"And that time you partnered up with her in one of our practicals? You know, against Vlad-sensei? She wouldn't stop telling anyone who'd listen how cool you were, as if the whole class wasn't already watching on live feed." Mirio goes on. "She kept talking my ear off," he scoffs.

"When you caught that virus just last month, it seemed like she was the one going to be sick, worrying about you. Have you ever seen her act that way towards anyone else?" Mirio asks.

Well, no. But—

"I thought she was just being a good friend," Tamaki mumbles. Mirio rolls his eyes.

"Oh yeah? You have no idea. She sees you and it's like her whole world lights up. It's practically written all over her face. I swear, I can see hearts pop out of her eyes." Tamaki opens his mouth to say something— anything— but nothing comes out. His brain appears to have short-circuited for the time being.

Mirio doesn't notice. "But, it's not funny because she gets this look sometimes. She gazes at you and her expression is caught somewhere between affection and sadness. She looks so lonely but she's already told me enough times that it's none of my business. I've seen that look more and more this past year and I'm guessing it's because we're about to graduate and you've never made a move on her."

Tamaki's mind is reeling with this revelation. He's not stupid. Hadou had strong feelings for him. For years. He can't wrap his head around that, can't quite comprehend someone could like him that much. Or that someone happened to be Hadou Nejire, one of the prettiest and most popular girls in school. "I- I never even knew."

"Why'd you ask, anyway?"

Huh? He'd almost forgotten what had brought about this conversation in the first place. "We— ah, well... I think we almost kissed in my room yesterday."

"WHAT?!" Mirio pumps his fist in the air. "That's great news!"

"Not exactly."

The blonde's face fell. "Explain."

***

"You said you were sorry?"

Okay. Mirio's reaction made him pretty confused. "Shouldn't I have?"

His friend claps him on the back. Hard. "You moron! She thinks you were letting her down gently."

Oh.

Oh.

Well, goddamn it. That would explain a LOT of things.

"Tamaki, tell it to me straight. Do you like Hadou?" Mirio's small eyes could get really intense when he felt like it and right now, they were boring holes into Tamaki's skull.

Does he? He honestly has no clue. This was all too new, too soon. Maybe not for Nejire but certainly to him. He likes her, sure, as a friend. But does he like her in that way? It was all so confusing, overwhelming even. He doesn't know if his anxiety could take it.

"I- I don't know."

"Well, my friend," Mirio says as he throws an arm around Tamaki's shoulders. "You better figure out your answer soon. She's been waiting a long while."

***

It's been two days since that talk with Mirio and Tamaki is still getting nowhere. He hasn't talked with Hadou in all that time and their classmates are starting to notice. Some have even asked if he and Hadou had a fight.

It's not like he doesn't want to talk to her. He does. But each time he even thinks of coming up to her, his palms start to sweat, blood pounds in his ears, and he practically clams up. Normally, he's only like this when facing a group of strangers. It's been a long, long time since he'd felt like this around Hadou, the last time being in their first year when he'd barely known her and she kept popping up out of nowhere.

She's not making it easy for him to approach either— making excuses to avoid him, or always being surrounded by their classmates.

Not for the first time, Tamaki curses his anxiety. He can't win either way. He feels stressed and worried for not making it right with her, but can't even take the first step to do so.

And he misses her.

It's really strange.

You'd think he'd prefer to be left alone, what with his mental health issues. But somewhere along the way, Hadou had bulldozed her way into his life and he can't imagine never hearing her incessant questions or seeing her bright smile flash his way again.

Tomorrow, he promises silently as he stares at the ceiling in his room, tomorrow, I'll talk to her.

He's about to nod off when a soft knock at his door makes him jump. The digital clock flashing at his bedside indicated that it was almost eleven in the evening. He doesn't know how he does, but when he gets to his door, he's certain he knows who it is.

She's standing there, clad in a simple, loose t-shirt and shorts, looking at him hesitantly.

He stands to the side, letting her walk past him, before slowly shutting the door. She walks towards the center of his room and takes a deep breath as if to calm herself, before turning to face him. She still can't quite meet his eyes, though, preferring to look at the floor.

"I- I'm sorry for coming here this late. But I haven't been able to sleep well these past two days ever since..." She trails off. He doesn't know what to say, so he keeps quiet. Hadou takes a deep breath. "I- I know things have been weird between us a-and it's my fault. So I came to say that I'm sorry. I know you don't look at me the same way, but I've always liked you, Tamaki."

It's a slip, he knows, because her eyes widen. "I-I mean, Amajiki." Even in the dim light of his room, he can see her blushing.

"You can call me Tamaki." He says softly.

"T-then, you should call me Nejire." He doesn't think he's ever seen her nervous before. Her tendency was to rush headlong into things, damn the consequences, not unlike Mirio. And it was because of him? He was making her nervous? It really was unthinkable. "You don't need to worry about my feelings getting in the way of our friendship. Nothing needs to change. I promise I won't—”

"Nejire, I'm sorry too," Tamaki interrupts.

"W-what? What for?" She sounds sincerely confused.

"I'm sorry for never noticing your feelings."

Her face reddens but then her gaze turns gentle. "It's okay. I only just realized that you probably never noticed because you never thought of yourself as someone worth admiring. You should know that there's a lot about you to like. Not just your strength as a hero, but you as a person."

He swallows, not entirely convinced. Doubt rears its ugly head. "You can do so much better than me."

"Tamaki." Nejire grabs hold of each of his hands. His instinctive reaction is to pull away but forces himself to relax. They stay like that for a while, just holding hands. Hers are warm. "No one even comes close to you," she says with conviction.

That's pretty hard to believe. There's Mirio, for starters, or how about all the other guys she's rejected? One of them was the son of a politician. And then—

Nejire senses that she's losing him so she gives his hand a little tug to make him look at her. "You care a lot for your friends. You're brave when it really counts and selfless to a fault. You have a keen mind in battle and you're incredibly kind. You even like butterflies, which I think is extremely adorable." She gives him a smile. By now, his whole face is red from her praise and his grip on her hands tighten a bit.

"But most of all, you inspire me. If someone like you, who's very shy and reserved can put himself out there to be a hero to people he doesn't even know, how can I be anything less? You are to me what Mirio is to you."

Is that how she sees him? He's finding it very difficult to see himself through her eyes but he wants to believe that he's worthy because—

"I want to try," he finally whispers to her.

Nejire is stunned at first, but what started out as a small smile suddenly blooms radiantly across her face. She stares at him with hopeful eyes.

"I- I'm most likely going to be bad at this. A-actually, it's guaranteed. A-and this is so new to me. I- I'm not really sure how I feel about you yet b-but I know I know I like you, too, Nejire. You're my friend and I'd like to find out if it can be something... more." He's stuttering and rambling but he can't help it. He's a mess and his heart is racing and she's going to change her mind, he's sure of it.

But she lets go of one of his hands to cup his cheek gently. "If it’s with you, I’m willing to take the risk. We’ll go as slow or as fast as you want. In fact, I'm willing to do anything you want."

Oh god, I'm going to have a heart attack.

Apparently realizing what she'd just said, Nejire flushes again, but doesn't take back her words. Her eyes slide to his mouth and he's reminded again of that day that started all of this. His already racing heart does a little flip when her hand on his cheek trembles.

"Can I kiss you?" She asks because, let's face it, this is Nejire and she's always been bold. He doesn't think his face could get any redder and his voice is suddenly nowhere to be found so instead, he nods.

He's a little too tall, and she's a little too eager but when her lips finally meet his, there's simply no other word for it: Nejire just melts. It's not exactly a clumsy kiss, but close to it.

Nejire doesn't mind. In fact, she's lost. She pours into the kiss all the words she wants to say to him but he isn't quite ready to hear. Her slim arms wrap around his neck as she slants her mouth to give him better access. It's everything she's ever dreamed of, and more. The world around her dissolves, and there's only him, and his warm mouth, and all the feelings inside of her threatening to burst out from within her chest.

When she presses her body flush against his, Tamaki lets out a strangled groan and she's afraid that she may have gone too far. He tenses for a bit, and she's ready to pull away but he finally relaxes enough to wrap his own arms around her. She's practically giddy with relief.

Nejire encourages him to deepen the kiss, opening her mouth and licking his lips. When he, very, very tentatively touches her tongue with his, all her self-restraint flies out the window. She grinds her hips against him, eager to relieve the hot pressure building between her thighs. Tamaki gasps and is suddenly filled with dread. He pulls away and hears Nejire make a noise of protest.

"I-I've never done this before," he confesses, embarrassed for some reason, as if he's admitting a serious crime. A parade of negative thoughts crowd his already-jumbled mind. He's not going to please her. He'll make a fool of himself. He'll—

"Neither have I."

What?

"Y-you w-want t-to..." He really can't finish this sentence. With him? He's trembling all over and it's a miracle he hasn't fainted straight away from the revelation.

Thankfully, Nejire understands. She looks breathtakingly beautiful, bathed in the moonlight shining through his window, as she smiles at him reassuringly. "Very, very much."

Tamaki exhales. He can't pretend he's not excited as well but it's being eclipsed by his nervousness, as with most things in his life. There's just so much pressure. It's her first time. What if she hates the experience? He wants so badly to make her happy, to prove to her that he's deserving of her affection.

"Tamaki, we don't have to do anything you don't want to do. I don't mind. I really don't. I'm truly happy I got this far with you, and that you're willing to give us a chance." Nejire rests her cheek on his chest, content to just be with him. She should probably go to her room now but she's loath to break the moment. She'll stay... just for a little while longer.

He sighs. Nejire is being so patient with him. She's normally a loose cannon with everything else. Impulsive, curious, outgoing. That was Nejire. That she's being so considerate now, putting his feelings above her own, carefully handling his insecurities, is a testament to how much she doesn't want to mess this up.

Tamaki suddenly feels an immense wave of fondness for her. Aside from Mirio, she's been the only other person to want to get close to him— to really get to know him beneath the timid exterior.

He gently cups her cheek and Nejire looks up at him with wide, curious eyes, surprise evident in their azure depths. It's nerve-racking, but he manages to lower his head to catch her lips again without too much trouble.

His courage is rewarded when she responds, kissing him back hungrily. Their second kiss is more passionate than the first, as if a dam had burst, with Nejire unabashedly pressing her soft breasts against his chest and grinding their lower bodies together. Her hands are running up and down his bare arms, leaving searing heat in their wake. Tamaki is mortified by the growing hardness in his pants, but he can't exactly hide it from her, and when Nejire discovers his state, it only serves to excite her more.

Lifting one shapely leg, she anchors it around his hip, making it easier for him to rub against her. When she can't take it anymore, Nejire finally breaks the kiss, and for a second, Tamaki assumes the worst, that he did something wrong and she's changed her mind.

But she only takes the hem of her t-shirt, and with one fluid motion, pulls it over her head, and tosses it on the floor. Her shorts slide down pale, creamy thighs and join her top soon after. By the time Nejire reaches behind to unclasp her bra, Tamaki is breathing heavily, unable to tear his eyes from her. He's so hard, it's almost painful.

Her bra falls to join the rest of her clothing and Tamaki has to swallow because Nejire looks so irresistible, standing in the middle of his room, clad only in her white, cotton panties, wearing a rather shy expression.

"Maybe we should get rid of your clothes, too," she suggests and Tamaki blushes hotly. Suddenly self-conscious, he worries that his body won't be as she expects. He's not as buff as Mirio, or some of their other classmates.

Nejire helps him undress, and with each article of clothing removed, he's getting more and more nervous. Finally, he's only in his underwear. Nejire hooks her thumbs on his waistband and whispers, "I'm taking this off, okay?"

He wants to melt into a puddle on the floor from sheer mortification. Words won't come so he merely nods. Nejire carefully bares him and Tamaki closes his eyes to try and keep his anxiety under control. It would be even more humiliating if he lost his erection. He's trembling again and it’s so obvious that he’s close to panicking.

"Tamaki, it's okay. You look good. Better than good, actually." Nejire's soothing voice penetrates through the turmoil in his mind like a cool balm. She thinks the best way to keep him from focusing on his imagined flaws is to distract him. So she takes one of his hands and very deliberately, places it over her breast.

It works. Tamaki's eyes fly open and he stares at his hand like he's never seen it before. Unthinkingly, he squeezes her, and almost apologizes for it, but Nejire's reaction stops him. Her mouth falls open, and her back arches, pressing more of her flesh into his palm. "Please touch me more," she pants. Soon, he is massaging both of her breasts, toying with dusky pink nipples that intriguingly tighten beneath his fingers. Nejire gives a fluttering sigh of pleasure at his ministrations.

She kisses him then, and he almost jumps when a slender hand stealthily wraps around his engorged length, stroking confidently. Tamaki groans into her mouth, all his reservations forgotten for the moment while she pumps him.

Without breaking the kiss, Nejire guides them to his bed. For Tamaki, everything is moving like a dream. He's hardly aware of falling into the bed with Nejire, or of his own hands coasting down her legs, taking her panties with them. He's kind of moving on instinct, taking her nipple into his mouth, rolling it around and sucking, to Nejire's utter delight. Unbidden, her legs slide open to make room for him, and at the first touch of his member across her wet folds, they both gasp, the friction staggering. Nejire is the first to recover, lifting her hips to grind herself more thoroughly all over him, coating his entire length with her fluids.

It's a tease for both of them, and Nejire doesn't think she can keep it up for much longer. She reaches down between their bodies to position him at her entrance. But then Tamaki gets his bearings, and he's flooded with insecurities once more.

"A-are you sure about this, Nejire? W-what if I disappoint you? What if this doesn't work? What if you suddenly realize that I'm really not what you want?" He sounds weak, pathetic, even to his own ears.

"Ssshh.." Nejire places a finger over his lips. "Don't think. Just feel. Does this feel wrong to you, Tamaki?" Slowly, he shakes his head. "You won't disappoint me because you can't. You're all I've ever wanted. And I'm ready for this. More than ready. I want it to be you."

Tamaki releases a breath he doesn't even remember holding, searches her eyes for any hint of hesitation, and finds only warmth and tenderness. He doesn't know how he'd gotten so lucky. To have been her classmate, her friend, and soon, her lover.

He penetrates her carefully, mindful of causing her any undue pain. Nejire's eyes flutter closed, murmuring a breathy yes. There's only a slight discomfort that quickly passes, replaced with the overriding feeling of fullness. Tamaki holds himself still for as long as he can, giving her time to adjust. Pleasure is spiking through each and every one of his nerve endings and he wants very badly to thrust into her, but utterly refuses to do so until Nejire is ready. Fortunately, she doesn't take long, and he nearly weeps in relief when her hips insistently demand that he move.

He withdraws nearly all the way and plunges back in, eliciting a startled cry from Nejire. He's worried that he might've hurt her until she orders him to "do that again." So he does, and very soon, she's a whimpering, sobbing mess in his arms, alternating between moaning his name, and broken cries of more, faster, oh god and ahhhh! It feels so good to be inside her, the feeling so hot and intense, and so perfect because it's her, that he's sure he won't last long. Still, he makes a tremendous effort to make it good for her, because he wants to make this night memorable for the both of them, because she's special, and because maybe, he's half in love with her already.

Nejire cries out when she comes, clutching him to her tightly, back arching like a bowstring. He's right there with her, emptying himself inside her with a satisfied groan. They fall asleep wrapped in each other's arms, blissfully content.

***

"Yo, Amajiki!" A male classmate calls out to him the following morning, grinning. It's Mikagami, who occupies the room next to his. "Got some action last night?"

He heard? Tamaki feels his face burn. Mirio, who's beside him, disguises his laugh with a cough. His best friend is the first to know, naturally.

"W-Wha!?"

Tamaki's gaze unwillingly drifts to Nejire, who's chatting with a group of girls. Mikagami's eyes suddenly widen. "You were with Hadou?! Amajiki, you lucky dog!" He claps a hand on Tamaki's back.

Then, to Tamaki's eternal horror, Mikagami cups both hands around his mouth to holler at Nejire from across the room. "Hey Hadou! Some of us would like to get some sleep, you know!"

Tamaki wants to die then and there. Would the floor please open up and swallow him already? Mirio snickers.

Nejire (and the rest of the class) looks at them. She turns as red as Tamaki but then grins widely. "I can't promise anything," she tells him, winking at Tamaki. Mirio outright guffaws.

Oh god.

Notes:

I hope Nejire didn't come out too OOC. I have this headcanon that when it comes to the person she actually likes, Nejire can be a bit soft and shy sometimes.
