    Summary

By 2009, Eliza Brook has been with Michael for nearly twenty-five years. She has lived as one of the most scrutinized celebrity spouses in history, the mother of Michael Jackson's children, the woman who held him together through his darkest years, and the pioneer who helped build the Heal The World Foundation.

As a physician, it was far from the ideal life she imagined for herself, but she never regrets choosing Michael.

And now, watching him stand at the edge of his life, the years of exhaustion and desperation finally catching up to them, she has to make a decision.

Michael drops his head against her shoulder. "I'm tired, Liz."

    A messy, expensive, irreversible decision.

    Their cost, however —

Prince wraps his little arms around her and presses himself close to her. "I love you, Mum."

Seventeen years later, she only holds Michael and whispers, "We did what we can, love."

Eliza and Michael have the quiet life they wanted. Even then, their rest is tinged with grief.

How did they reach here from the night-long phone calls, dancing to the hits on radio and arguing whether orange juice qualified as a breakfast?

    Summary

When Midorii Madeline Takemura came into the world, no one assumed her life would turn out this way. Growing up in the shadow of family expectations, tradition, and preordained roles, she was meant to be just another obedient piece in a perfect puzzle. Fate, however, had other plans. Her desire for freedom and her own voice hurled her into the brutal world of show business, a place where the glare of the spotlights can blind you, and every attempt to be yourself becomes a fight for survival.

On the other hand, when Michael Jackson stood on stage as a child, the world saw a wunderkind born to change the history of music. Yet, few noticed that beneath the mask of genius and a flawless smile lay a man trapped in the golden cage of his own fame. Condemned to constant judgment, hounded by the media, and stripped of his privacy.

In these two tragic, pain-filled stories, no one could have predicted that amidst the blinding flash of cameras and omnipresent falsehood, two such vastly different stars would see in each other something more than just a media image. In a world that feeds on their suffering, will they manage to find sanctuary? Or will the destiny that brought them together prove to be their greatest curse?

She inhaled sharply, crossing her leg over the other. With a raise of her brows, she smiled. "Do you like bein' a bodyguard?" He glanced at her through the corner of his eye. His arms folded over his chest. "Yeah-It pays good." The back of his head was against the head of the couch. His dimpled chin was up in the air. Upward his lidded eyes drifted.

"Do you like bein' a director's wife?" He mumbled, bringing his hand up. He brushed a few loose coils of hair away from his face. The floor shot into her view. A sharp exhale flew out of her mouth. "I-Uh-Nice-It's nice," she stammered. Her head nodded along to her words.

    "Nice?"

Her brows shot up, she strained a grin. "Nice." Suddenly her lips were forced into a slight frown. A crease formed between her brows. She shook her head slightly. "I'm sorry. I'm not no good with words," she sighed.

"No, I'm sorry I asked that. That was a real' stupid question."

"It wasn't stupid. Nobody's ever asked me that before," she said through a forced laugh. 'Nice,' she repeated to herself.

    Summary

Amara De Giuli was hired to sew costumes, keep her head down, and stay far away from the man on the stage.

But Michael Jackson is softer than the tabloids paint him to be; shy, gentle, and unbearably lonely beneath the spotlight.

As cameras flash and rumors spread, the world begins pulling her into a life she never wanted. And the closer they grow behind closed doors, the harder it becomes for Amara to tell where normalcy ends and something far more dangerous begins.
