Summary
When Hermione finally returns to London after nine years of building a career as a Magical Being Rights Advocate in Australia, she expects things to be at least somewhat like she remembered them. Instead, she returns to a world she doesn’t recognize. One in which Draco is now one of Harry's best friends—and trusted Auror partner—with their friend groups merged into one. And though Hermione has never acknowledged why she stayed in Australia for so long, it’s now obvious: she’s never really come to terms with the past. But if London is ever truly going to feel like home again, she’s going to have to face the ghosts that are now everywhere she turns, whether she’s ready to or not.
“You know,” Draco said casually, “I’m not here to antagonize you. As much as you’d like to tell yourself I am.”
“I don’t really care if you’re trying to or not. Your presence is antagonizing regardless of your intention.” Hermione didn’t even look over at him.
He tilted his head with an eyebrow-raised shrug. “Yeah, I heard that a lot ten years ago. Thought I’d gotten to a point where I was on the other side of making people feel that way.”
“Not in my eyes, Malfoy.”
He glanced at her, "Not for now, anyway."
