    Summary

    For Christmas break I decided to do a 10 part (there is a bonus 11th) Evanstan series - all in the same verse. They all go together but can be read as independent one shots. They will be updated probably twice a week until all of them are up. It was based off a prompt that I saw on tumblr:

    Write a story including a set of three things
    1) A red wine stain, a broken vase, street lights
    2) Autumn leaves, rain drops against the window, cups of tea
    3) Blue paint, handprints, an airplane
    4) A text message, a giddy feeling for the whole day, a flag
    5) A campfire, lightning bugs, a note
    6) A box of green hair day, a motivational speech, snowflakes in eyelashes
    7) A promise, a clock, the airport
    8) Hands intertwined, an inside jokes, a poem
    9) Baking on a rainy day, high fives, a first kiss
    10) A phone call, a ferris wheel, a broken heart.
    *My added bonus* 11) Roses, a coffee mug, a dog door

    There's possibly no greater joy than returning home to your dog greeting you at the door, wagging their tail, and barking, simply excited to see you whether you've been gone for five hours or five minutes.

    Or... maybe there is a greater joy...

    Personally though, for Bucky Barnes that greater joy isn't too far off, because instead of his literal dog greeting him at the door he has his boyfriend to greet him. Similar in that his boyfriend is just as excited to see him as an actual dog would be, but also because his boyfriend is on all fours with a tail butt plug in and whining and making puppy-dog eyes at him.

    The second is definitely what Bucky prefers.

    He cannot wait to play with his boyfriend- his puppy after work.

    Summary

    Based on Lauralots' Alexander Pierce Should Have Died Slower series, as well as personal experiences, this universe explores Bucky as the host of a traumagenic DID system.

    The Winter System consists of Bucky (the Host), the Soldier (a trauma-holder protector/former persecutor), Jamesy (a trauma-holder system little), and Winnie (a nonhuman system little, split from Jamesy).

    James Buchanan Barnes was just trying to get through his reintegration to civilian life without becoming Bubble Boy, or a recluse, or some weird combination of the two. But then Josh Ray Person blows into his life at a VA support meeting with his stupid Elvis sunglasses and penchant for saying what he’s thinking without processing it first and drags him, kicking and screaming, out of his shell.

    Josh Ray Person was a lonely mess before he dragged himself to that VA support meeting. His boyfriend was in freakin’ England and the people he kept in contact with were too far to see every day so he was stuck in a loop of home-therapy-home-therapy-home-weed dealer-home until he forced himself to get out, go to the VA meeting his therapist had kept hinting at. When he meets James, Bucky, it’s like a breath of fresh air, a new project so he latches onto him like a grabby octopus and makes him his new best friend.

    Together they’re just trying to make it through the weirdness that is civilian life, one cup of coffee at a time.

    Bucky Barnes made a name for himself as the attorney who could get anyone off, but he still lives by the saying, "Innocent until proven guilty." Steve Rogers finds himself on trial for multiple homicides but he swears he was only trying to protect a girl. Bucky's been in this business long enough to know when someone's innocent, and Steve is innocent. Steve already feels like a monster and Bucky's worried this guy's going to lay himself on the sword come his trial. So Bucky offers up another course for punishment:

     Turns out, chains and whips really excite Steve.

But as they sit there in silence, eating two halves of one cupcake, letting Brooklyn remind there where they came from, and enjoying a sky full of stars… They are those same little boys, somewhere deep down. For just a second, you’d be able to see them again.

    And Bucky thinks to himself that maybe it’s little moments like these – fleeting as they may be – that remind him why life is still worth living.
