Humans had lost the great war against the demons. Now, thousands of years later, there was a new rule, added to the long peace pact that humans were forced to sign after losing. Every hundred years, one random human had to be given to the demons, as a wife to a random demon. In this way, the demons tried to maintain balance and secure peace between the two races.
