Summary
Phainon’s soulmark appeared when he was a young boy in Aedes Elysiae. It was supposed to tell him the name of his soulmate, but it was written in an alphabet he had never seen before. He delighted in the idea of a soulmate from a faraway land.
Of course, life didn’t turn out as he’d planned. By the time he arrived in Okhema, love was the last thing on his mind. He'd never learned how to read the mark, and at this point, he'd resolved he never would. He'd dedicated his life to the Flame Chase.
Once he met Mydei, he felt a connection he had never experienced with anyone. Surely, if he had a soulmate, it had to be him. They started spending more time together, growing closer, until Mydei informed him - he had a soulmate, but it wasn't Phainon.

For you, for this doomed love, for everything. Phainon bit his lip white, holding back more tears. The more he hid, the more it showed. Nothing stayed secret from Mydei. Phainon had imagined their end many times, but never like this, in such a gentle moment.
Before parting, he wanted to confess his love, kiss him one last time.
Phainon swore by the rule but fell way too hard, way too stupidly, missing all the “what ifs” hidden in Mydei’s words.
