    A flicker of guilt crosses Hua Cheng’s face, and he starts to pull back—Xie Lian tightens his grip and refuses to let him.

    “San Lang,” Xie Lian continues, “is my dear, precious, beloved husband. There is no one more deserving of this. But if he needs a reminder, then of course this gege will be happy to give him a very thorough one.”

    Hua Cheng has been stressed recently, and so Xie Lian suggests a special day of spoiling for him. Although usually keen to accept his gege’s spoiling, Hua Cheng discovers he has a difficult time accepting it when he feels so undeserving.

    General Nan Yang hates General Xuan Zhen. Their rivalry bleeds over their followers on opposite sides of the same territory. There was no tolerance, just pride and resentment.

    But Ju Yang doesn't hate, no, he is different from the other two. Ju Yang loves his Qing-mei. Loves when he scratches, loves when he fights, loves when Qing-mei try so hard to get away from his hands only to guide them away from prying eyes. Ju Yang loves to hunt him down and devour him, piece by piece. And his precious and beloved Qing-mei always gives him exactly all he wants.

    Phainon plants her palms on either side of Mydei's head to crowd over her once more. "I've proven myself enough, haven't I?"

    Mydei licks the blood from her split lip, eyes growing heavy. "You have, yes," she says, lifting her thigh until it presses up between Phainon's legs. "But I think you enjoyed this fight, too."

    Phainon stares down at her, mouth wide. It would be so easy to give in—to rock down against Mydei's thick thigh, blessedly free of greaves today. To kiss the smirk off her face. Instead, her hand finds its way to Mydei's throat, fingers circling it to the feel the rabbiting of her pulse.

    "You are terrible, Mydei," she whispers.

    Mydei sneers up at her, nose crooked from years of fights. "As if you're any better, Deliverer."

    Aventurine makes it out of the abyss - and into a different world. Things are different here - simpler. There are no Aeons, no intergalactic factions and corporations, no Paths and Blessings. He is not naïve enough to assume that there is no cruelty and discrimination here - for there always is - but for the most part, everything is peaceful.

    Here, Aventurine's priorities are getting people's coffee orders right. Fairly straight forward, if you ask him.

    Except for the bit where he is surrounded by too many familiar faces, and they remind him of a place he can no longer return to. That's okay. People come and go, and so will they.

     

    Except for the bit where they come and go and come back.

     

    AKA. Aventurine gets dropped into a coffee-shop AU with all the memories from before. He's handling things until he's not handling things. That's okay, because he still has friends (and Dr Ratio) in this world. He just doesn't know it yet.

    THE FORMATTING IS AMAZING. VERY SCI-FI AND META
