Summary
Every human has a clockwork creature, a companion made of metal gears and cogs. Laura's spent a lifetime learning to repair them and when she sees Carmilla's intricate but broken cat, she begs for the chance to help it. However Carmilla, the roommate from hell, isn't interested in Laura and her tiny golden dragon.
Laura's not great at listening, about the cat or the missing girls.

Summary
Bringing this one back from the dead because I just can't help but want to finish a story about a vampiric viral pandemic during an actual dg pandemic. This won't make 2020 any better, but at least in this story we get a couple of cupcakes in love to go along with all the terribleness.
The one where Laura and Lafontaine are scientists working to create fast-acting vaccines at the CDC, the Corvae is a very unfriendly military sub-contractor working on biological weapons, Carmilla gets exposed to something she shouldn't have, and everyone is caught in the middle of a global bio-terrorist attack (aka, vampirism via viral infection).
It'll get pretty apocalyptic.

Summary
In the small town of Silas, NC, Laura lives with her father and works as a server with her friend Kirsch who is a bartender in a restaurant on the boardwalk which is owned by Lafontaine and their family called The Fresh Start. It is the beginning of summer break and everyone is back in training for their summer jobs. New to town are Carmilla and Will, two siblings who unbeknownst to anyone are actually demons, fallen angels who have been sent to Earth to create trouble. The only problem is the two angels, Danny and Perry, who have also been sent to Silas to investigate and correct the unbalance of peace and chaos created by the demons. Each side has their mission and sees nothing else, that is until they meet Laura. The dorky blonde seems to show everyone that the world isn't black and white, but instead one large shade of gray...
