'Hi? Can I help you?'
'Here.'Zoey blinked in surprise as they held forward their umbrella, nearly pushing it into Zoey's arms. She managed to get a hold, her own hand wrapping briefly over theirs, warmth transferring from them to her before they pulled away, starting to move down the street.
'Wh- wait! This is yours, do you not want it back? I- I can pay! Uhm.. do you..'
They raised a hand in a wave, then tugged their coat hood up before crossing a street, moving away from Zoey's destination and leaving her dumbfounded on the side of the road, now sheltered by the umbrella.
'Uhm.. thank you.' she mumbled.
Zoey looked back to her phone, realising with a start that she hadn't stopped the recording. As she moved to stop it, a slip of paper dropped out of her fingers as she swapped the hand holding the umbrella - and for a split second she froze before desperately grabbing it out of the air.
'What the..'
She unfurled the paper, a small set of digits staring calmly back at her.

Saying it didn’t make it any easier - but Zoey tried. Even if she didn’t need to, even if it wouldn’t actually help her - but she tried, because it was Mira asking, and somewhere along the way that had come to matter to her. Somewhere along the way she’d started placing that above her own wish to see the stars - and that realisation was almost enough to set her off again, actually, but -
‘Zoey, please - here, uhm, hold Derpy, just.. Take a moment, okay? Take a breath.’
Rumi was there too, of course, and for some reason that made it easier, like if Mira was step one, Rumi was step two in a two step plan to being okay. And somewhere along the way, that had become more important than whatever she wanted, and for some reason, this time, that calmed her.
So she reached, but not for Derpy, or Sussie, for that matter, but for them.Or:

Rumi's voice was soft, careful.

Mira pushed Zoey back gently against the bed, the protective gaze that Zoey had seen most often reserved for Rumi, but more recently for Zoey, too.
'We don't want anything, Zo. We don't want anything but you.'

Zoey's been a drifter among the stars since her parents abandoned her, forced to make a living the only way she could. Her ship, the Jejuseuta, has been her home for almost as long as she can remember. Smuggling is dirty work, but she knows what she's doing - at least until the cargo is a pair of extremely hot women, and not a bunch of boxes. -

Rumi could feel her eyes beginning to fix on the ceiling, her hands awkwardly scrunching the bedsheets around her just so there was something to do, but she could already tell it wasn't enough - not nearly - her breath already shallowing as her mind began to race freely. The familiar anxiety began to set in, curling up through her chest and lungs like smoke - the fear of being alone with her thoughts only compounding the issue - but it wasn't that she was - alone - not really, but she was, that there was nothing to stop her, to save her - the knowledge her phone was right there burned into her mind - if she could just reach it and call for help but she couldn't because it was too far and it was too much and -
The distant click of the flat door opening - followed promptly by the filtered voices of Zoey and Mira. Rumi could feel herself breathe. Properly - just for a moment - but the pressure building in her chest - the smoke burning her system - released slightly.
She blinked.
Once.
Twice.'Oh.'

But, a new emotion stirs in Wednesday. One that is fighting to be heard, she can feel it climbing up her throat. It's filled with brutality, but not in a violent way, no–even worse.

"Your scars, they're radiant." Her voice drops even more. She almost fears Enid didn't hear. But the blonde snaps upright in bed. Her face is still red and wet with tears. The concealer is gone and Wednesday's gaze softens seeing the markings.
Maybe being honest is what Enid needs.
