Summary
The Tenakth raise their weapons and feet and begin stomping the earth. There’s no coordination to it, no beat, but order arises from the chaos until it begins to sound like a heartbeat. When the Chorus sings, the imperfections of any individual voice are smoothed out by the collective. This is the closest to music Zo’s ever heard the Tenakth make. And it’s an ugly sound.
When it finally ends, the Chief turns towards the Utaru. "Is there one among you who wants to speak before we march?" he asks.
How strange, Zo thinks. The man has united three Clans of Tenakth and yet failed to understand a basic tenet of his neighboring tribe. Among the Utaru, there is never only one who speaks.
As the Buried Years unfold, Zo washes away the ash-marks of a healer and becomes what her people need: first exile, then a frightening story, and finally gravesinger.

Commander. Found Old Ones artifact at Faro outpost. Something called KRONOS. Sylens very interested.
- Aloy leapt at the chance to escape the Imperial boardroom for a day. Not to mention, if Sylens was interested in what they’d found, well. Even more reason for Aloy to step in and make sure the infuriating man wasn’t going to accidentally boot up yet another world-threatening danger from an ancient era. While preparing for Nemesis, they’d investigated scores of corporate tech labs, trying to find any kind of edge against it that would serve them in that battle.
It was supposed to be just like old times. What they got instead was other times.

The Chief’s relaxed mood drops instantly. Aloy’s next words stick in her mouth as the sharp shift in energy turns her blood to ice.
“I sent no runners for Kotallo. Is he not with your squad?”
Her hand is already fumbling at her ear, fervently stacking hope against the dread building in her gut.
"Champion," Hekarro rises, gaze hardening. "Where is my Marshal?"
Kotallo wakes in a dangerous place, but he isn't alone. Aloy and Hekarro race to recover their boy.
