I groan and turn to my side when the morning light hits my face. Nina once said the sun will die, swelling into a red giant as it runs out of fuel. It will swallow Earth and there will only be darkness. It won't be for five billion years, however.

..."Aretha!"
I'm yanked out of the cocoon within my mind and bed at the call of my father's voice. I wish he'd fuck off. I grunt and poke my head out from my pillow, reaching for my phone while trying as much as possible not to move from the warmth I created. My center hardens again as I check the time; seven twenty. Any softness goes cold and I roll my eyes. The weight presses hard, reminding me of where I am and what I have to do. It was always there, but these few moments I had to myself were the only moments I had time to warm it from a jagged rock of ice to a soft ball of something akin to a warm water balloon. It was too painful to carry all day if I didn't take that time-
"Aretha!"
