Ed's out of the blue question at least answers Stede's anxieties about radio etiquette. He pulls the walkie from his pack and stares at it, deciding how much of his life he actually wants to share with this complete stranger.
"What brings you out here?"
or: Stede takes a job as a remote forest fire lookout in the summer following his divorce, with a plan to find out who he is, and what he wants his life to be. With the help of the enigmatic lookout on the other side of the forest, he ends up getting more out of the experience than he could ever have hoped.

Summary
Stede Bonnet, modern day wealthy vice president of his father’s company, tires of his monotonous life of commuting from the hustle of the city to the cookie cutter suburbs and dreams of a peaceful life on a New Zealand sheep farm. However, because he has absolutely no idea what he is doing, he must hire a crew of unique and lovable farm hands.
Things did not go as planned…This uses season 1 of OFMD as a base but sets it in modern times. We tried to capture the vibe of the show without rehashing it. Quotes used but not in the same context as the show, just as little nods. We do venture into a "season 2" that we made up ourselves. There is sexual content.

Summary
In a last ditch effort to save his crumbling marriage, Stede Bonnet decides to take an early retirement to focus on his family. His plan: to have a beautiful, custom tiny home built in secret to travel the country with his wife and children.
Edward Teach has been building tiny homes for nearly a decade, and after so many builds under his belt they tend to become standard and repetitive - until an inquiry comes in asking for the most ridiculous, expensive, and quite possibly impossible request he's ever received.

Summary
Ed is an engineer aboard the Revenge, an interplanetary research vessel on a multi-year mission to study Jupiter's moon Europa. An accident requires that Ed awaken from cryostasis over six months early, and finds his only companion to be Stede, the ship's onboard AI. They develop an unconventional friendship, but is it possible to have more?
This is classic mutual pining with a sci-fi twist, inspired by all of my favorite stories about the nature of personhood.

“You–” Ed was struggling to parse what Stede was saying. “You’re playing your version of this song for me, right now? Like, in real time?”“Yes, Edward, that’s correct,” said Stede softly.
Ed’s brain momentarily seized up. He supposed it made sense that Stede was capable of learning a set of rules to do something like arrange and play a piece of music. There was something unnerving about this song, though. It felt, well–it felt organic . Reactive. Almost collaborative in a way. Ed was lost in the push and pull of it, until the last notes softly petered out.
“So, what did you think?” asked Stede. It sounded nervous again. Why the hell would someone program an anxiety response into a bot?

Summary

After a rocky start, he meets Ed, the disillusioned owner of the bar Mooncussers, and they find a haven in each other.

Across the academic year, Stede tips headfirst into dizzying romance, mind-blowing sex, and happiness he couldn't have dreamed up if he'd tried. He learns lessons he never knew he needed, forcing him to reevaluate everything from his career goals to his relationships with his children. Ed is at the center of it all, teaching Stede at every turn exactly how wonderful life can be—and the startling speed with which fear and hesitation could snatch away his newfound love.
Eventually, the only thing that matters for them both is learning enough about love to stop it from slipping through their fingers.

Summary
Stede Bonnet is happy, or so he thinks, as happy as he's ever been in his life now that he's established a whole new life after the catastrophic divorce. But at night, when he's alone, he feels the crushing weight of the loneliness that comes from a life unshared with a partner who might actually understand him and love him just the way he is. Stede had no hope of that ever changing, so he sticks to the life he's trying to maintain-- being a good teacher and a good dad to his children.
When he finally meets a beloved student's adoptive father for the first time, well, that changes things in a drastic way neither man expect. Both of their lives are about to be turned upside down in a way they've both been craving for a long time, but aren't quite ready for. Hijinks ensue... but so does love.

“You’re freaking out in here,” Lucius says, shutting the door behind himself. He grabs two rocks glasses from the bar cart and a decanter of the good whisky and sets it all on Stede’s desk.“Astute,” Stede declares. “I’ve asked Ed on a date.”
“Ooh, Mr. Mechanic?” Lucius simpers, and Stede blushes. “Haven’t you two been dating for weeks?”
“Wh—No, we’re friends!” He says.
“Oh, my God, you can’t be serious,” Lucius says.

Summary
Ed didn't know why Stede’s house had a room sealed off. Two decades gone, filled with the creation and destruction of things they'd never shared with each other, and Ed no longer had reading privileges to the Book of Stede.
So he's left to wonder - what's in the room? Why is the door plastered over? And why does Ed remember kissing Stede on a make-believe ship they’d invented as kids?
Ed’s imagination always did get away from him like that.
