Summary
Lyney and Lynette join the masses of Fontaine at the summer festival at the beach. They meet friends and foes, and Lyney's arch-nemesis Duke Wriothesley. Who he is definitely not seeing in private, thank you very much! There's beach volleyball and sweet treats, and perhaps a bit of turmoil beneath the surface.
Lyney can just see the tabloid headlines the following day: “Great Magician spotted attacking an innocent man at the beach!” “The real face of Great Magician Lyney, exposed!”

Flins sees the ghosts behind those pleading eyes, the shadows he tries to bathe in light, to pretend his lantern could drown them out rather than push them further into the corners of his mind. And he knows the stories, knows the haunted past that Illuga doesn’t like to talk about, the reason Flins’ answer matters.
He settles on a simple, yet vague truth.
“I am… not so easily killed,” he admits.
“If you’re lying to me,” Illuga says. “I will summon you from the grave and kill you myself.”

“I’m not that young anymore,” Illuga says wearily, placing his hand over Flins’. “Do you like younger men, Sir Flins? Is that why you enjoy teasing me?”
“Ah, Master Illuga, ‘tis a bold claim to assume that I would not like you either way.” He bats a suggestive eye at him, and Illuga cracks into a smile - the first one this whole week. ”There you go.”
