masterpiece! every single moment spent reading this was so much fun. so many exhilarating battles with such careful attention to detail about how competitive pokemon 6v6 singles is played. lots and lots of references to canon as well as smogon-type stuff, some overt, some subtle, the latter kind made me feel the type of joy i imagine a rodent does when it tears apart a cardboard tube and finds sweet potato inside every time. toril's final, mystery pokemon was my very favourite twist, executed with aplomb as was everything else about this work, and made me very happy :-)...
there's no other game like competitive pokemon. i feel that many resent its extreme amount of luck-based elements, seeing them as obstacles barricading the way toward a game where the more skilled player walks away with the win every time, but even though it's kind of ass as a competitive game i wouldn't want to live in the world where hydro pump never misses and shadow ball never drops spdef. well, maybe i could bear to live in the one where scald doesn't proc its 30% burn. hahaha. i haven't played or kept up with this scene in a long time now, but this fic made me remember what i loved so much about it

But it would be one month to train Trunks in safety. One month for Bulma to do her work without the threat of death from above.
They’ll never, ever agree.
Seventeen comes up with new games to ease his boredom. Gohan tries to give Trunks, and the world, more time.

fantastic fic that captures the uniquely very grim tone (amongst dragon ball media) of The History of Trunks OVA/future trunks' timeline in general and expands on it with heavy themes of struggle for autonomy against the expectations of you that your predecessors have set, intentionally or otherwise. the experience of reading this feels much like observing the behaviour of three starving rats trapped in a small enclosed area with only each other for company. 17 is highly entertaining both to watch and just to think about, and despite his actions it's easy to feel bad for him too. terrible situation for everybody. please give this a read

my very favourite logh fic. the characterisation is impeccable. in particular i like the way that reinhardt's flirting game is so bad because he'd known his only boyfriend since they were both like 8 so this is actually still new for him. if logh allowed its characters to have the gay sex we all know they're having, this is exactly precisely how i imagine reinyang would go
