Shi Qingxuan offers him another cup and instead of drinking it himself, he looks her right in the eye and presses it against her lips. Her eyes widen, but she opens her mouth and starts drinking.
“Look at me,” He Xuan says.
The Wind Master’s eyes fly open, right as she gulps down the rest of the cup.
A little trail of wine escapes from her lips, down her neck, towards her cleavage. She notices it and gathers the drops onto her fingers, makes eye contact with him and licks the wine off.
“Do you not want a taste, Ming-Xiong?” she says, faking innocence, and He Xuan can’t hold back anymore.

John wakes up A— first.
“Who are you?” is the first thing he says.
It hurts. As much as John had prepared himself for this eventuality, as much as he had hoped and feared that their memories would not return, as necessary as it is that A— forgets everything — it still hurts, to be forgotten.
“I’m John,” John says gently.
“John,” A— repeats dumbly. “John.”
And then he collapses into John’s arms and bursts into tears in a way that John has never seen, not even at the end of the world. He’s bawling, weeping, shouting, and screaming, all incoherent sounds of grief. He wails like a newborn child, not knowing why he weeps, only that he must.
“John,” A— moans mournfully as he clings to John like a lifeline. “John. John. Where is M—? Where is my brother?”

Daniel is dying, and Armand can’t save him any more than he can save himself. He will not turn Daniel into the monster he is, he will not put an end to his misery by killing him gently, he will not sit beside him to watch him die. Armand is, at heart, a selfish creature.
Perhaps it’s that selfishness what makes him fall to his kneel before Louis, his companion, his victim, and beg him to turn the boy.
