His throat tightened all at once. His legs threatened to give out as he stared at the boy standing in front of him. For days, his mind had insisted on piecing that face back together, filling every gap his memory had left behind until the image had become almost unreal.
"Um... excuse me. Are you Jaehyun?"
The other looked up.
He was shorter than Taesan had expected, his skin tanned by the spring sun. A faint crease settled between his brows, making the corners of his mouth curl into an expression caught somewhere between confusion and amusement.
"So..." he said, slipping one hand into his pocket. "You're the one who's been looking for me, right?"
The funny thing was... He wasn't. Not really.

It had been manageable in the first half. Background noise. But England's number ten had spent 120-plus minutes pouring omega pheromones into the pitch like he was marking territory instead of playing football, and by the second half it wasn't background noise anymore.
Extra time made it worse. Fatigue does something to scent control, strips away all the careful discipline these things are supposed to require, and Jude — brilliant, maddening Jude — was radiating pure omega distress-and-triumph in equal parts, like he couldn't decide whether he was winning or breaking Erling's heart. Maybe both.
