Summary
Remus Lupin was a werewolf. Bitten at thirteen, his lycanthropy took over his life and poisoned him from the inside out.
Desperate to avoid becoming the monster he was bitten by, he began plotting his own suicide, determined to kill the wolf before it could hurt anyone else. His sixteenth birthday would be his end.
However, the universe had other plans for him. Seven months before his suicide date, he was abruptly uprooted and transferred to a private boarding school for troubled kids, where he was expected to share a room with three other boys. Boys who were dead-set on becoming his friend regardless of how hard he pushed them away.
Remus Lupin was planning to kill himself, and his obnoxious roommates wouldn't let him.

“I’m thinking of ending things.”
James pressed his lips together hard as he fought the urge to suck in a breath at the words. He instinctively reached for his binder of prepared materials and began to flip through it as if it would have the answer, rustling the pages frantically as he did.
“Hello?”
James flinched. “Um, hi, yes sorry it’s uh-- it’s my first day.”
A pause. Then, dry as a bone: “Brilliant. You’d think they’d at least train you to tell people not to kill themselves before handing you a phone.”
James froze, then panicked. “Oh God-- you’re right, I mean, of course-- I didn’t-- oh, shit, I just--”
James’s rambling was interrupted by a quiet sound, over so quickly he almost missed it.
The caller had laughed.

There is a body buried beneath 12 Grimmauld Place.
Its ghost leaks out through the walls, the pipes, the floorboards, the crown moulding. At night, it shakes the busts off their pedestals, leaves drawers hanging open like yawning, gaping mouths. It sinks steak knives into portraits, switches the silverware, moves furniture. By daybreak, it howls. It screams and moans and wails.
