Summary
Leo regards the glass curiously, eyes following the gentle sloshing of the liquid inside as he tilts it back and forth by the stem. It is a strange feeling to know that he still doesn’t appear old enough to request a drink for himself. Perhaps he never will—his body suspended in time, still stuck at sixteen alongside his stubborn heart. Forever, unchanging.
He finds himself lost in thought, barely registering the shift in ambiance as the toast begins. He tunes back in just in time to raise his glass as the former Duchess Rainsworth brightly smiles and says—
“—To the bright futures of the bride and groom!”

"Your compassion will be the end of our savings, whatever tempting recipe you’re making this time.”
A glinting blue eye twinkled under the orange lamp of the kitchen, turning to him at last, knowing. “Is it tempting enough for the beast to come out of its burrow and drink with an old friend?”

There is no possible scenario where Takumi would survive this.
Not like this. Worn down over weeks of being stretched thin, struggling to adapt, pressured and battered on all sides. This weak, frantic, exhausted Takumi, holding the blade in between his trembling hands. Driven not by hatred, but something quieter. Smaller. Something so, so scared, so tired, so desperate for everything to go away.
Cheer up, Takumi. You never have to be alone now.
Eito was never wrong about that. But a sickening feeling settles in his stomach, sour like bile. A terrible realization, unfolding its petals to reveal an awful truth. When - not if, but when - Takumi breaks himself into pieces, collapsing in on himself like the core of a star that's run out of fuel...
... Eito will be the one left here, alone.
They'll be together forever - but that forever lasts as long as Eito can keep him alive.

⚠️ MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SECOND SCENARIO ⚠️
It's a terrible feeling... but it's also a little wonderful too, because it's Takumi. Only Takumi could make him feel like this. Could make him feel so disgusted, yet so enthralled. His lips curl around a smile. At the very least, he gets this much. To know what it's like to feel the warmth of someone's hand, directly interlaced in his own.
As the pain ripples through his body in waves, and his blood seeps into his Class Armor... he finds comfort, here.
He takes some strange form of comfort, in being surrounded by this awful smell. Something so dreadfully Takumi that even the sense of nausea it brings, is something he clings to. The repulsive feeling etched into every line of his body is proof, proof beyond every lie embedded into him - proof that Eito is not alone. Takumi is here, with him. Takumi is holding his hand, cradling his body in his arms. Proof that calms something deep inside of him, something small and frightened and yearning for companionship.
Haha... How ridiculous. Has he always been like this ...?
Eito feels the warmth of Takumi's hand, clasped against his own.
