Summary
Zayn’s fingers are shaky as he sets up the camera, his heart pounding when he pulls up the website, the account that’s been created for him. He slips a mask in place before he logs in, sneaking one last look towards the bed and all the toys that are waiting for him on it.
No matter how many times he does this, there’s still a moment of hesitation. Of trepidation, swirling low in his belly. He always has to steady himself with a deep breath, before he clicks on the deceptively small button on his page.
STREAMING LIVE! The page warns him, and Zayn allows himself another slow breath out as his room comes into focus on camera, as the first of his subscribers come flooding into the chatbox.

“Hello?”
It's tentative, the voice. Louis keeps his eyes firmly closed. This isn't real, he tells himself. This isn't happening. He’d been so careful.
Zayn was going to kill him. Fuck. He’d known better than to go out for a supply run on his own. But Susie had been sick and he hadn’t wanted to take Mike with him when he was so worried about his little sister. She was only eleven years old, it wasn’t like she could stay on her own.
He knows the rules. He knows that agreement that he’s made with Zayn. If I ever come back different-
He scrunches his eyes shut even tighter, as though that can keep the horrible truth at bay. He doesn’t have to be different, he tells himself. He can just ignore-
“Hello?”
Shut up, he thinks. This isn’t real. You’re not real. This isn’t happening.
“I’m sorry you feel that way,” the voice in his head whispers.

Summary
When he’s in a fight like this, he doesn’t think. He doesn’t have to think. There’s this single minded focus, almost like he can predict what move is coming next. Like his muscles are already anticipating, reacting, before he’s even seen his opponent move.
A small tremor in Blitz’ hands and Zayn pushes his own hands up, bringing up a wall of water that blossoms into ice in front of him, keeping Blitz’ electric current from hitting him. He steps back, eyes on the distorted shape on the other side of the ice, though Zayn doesn’t have to guess at his next move.
This is what he’s been doing for the past six months, after all. This is what he’s trained for, it’s his purpose. One of these days, he will manage to complete his task.
One of these days, the fight will go his way, and Blitz will be obliterated.

For years, he’s had the same routine. For years, he’d only have to wake up and there’d be lips pressed against his cheek, a raspy happy birthday whispered against his skin. He’d wonder, sometimes, how Harry could pinpoint the exact moment he’d woken up, because some years he hadn’t even been able to open his eyes before those lips made contact with his skin. He’d deduced that it must mean that Harry had been awake before him, every year without fail, and had been watching him. Had known him well enough to know when Louis slipped back into consciousness. It’d made him feel warm and safe and known, once upon a time.
This year there aren’t any lips pressed to his cheek. There isn’t a raspy happy birthday whispered against his skin.
This year, Louis wakes up alone.

"Hi,” the boy chirps, and Louis sort of wants to scowl, mostly because he doesn’t.
“Hi,” he echoes, lower in pitch but not unfriendly, and the boy’s smile brightens in response.
“Hi,” he says again. “I’m Harry. I moved into the apartment next to yours a couple of weeks ago,” he points over his shoulder. “28B. I um. I thought I’d introduce myself.”
