Summary
The moment the ball hits the court, fitting perfectly inside the lines, Jannik freezes.
He sees him fall to the ground on the other side of the net. He buries his face in his hands, smiling blindingly. When he gets up, there is clay all over his kit, clinging to his back and legs.
There’s clay all over Jannik’s hands too. He feels sick when he glances at his palms. Disbelief mixes with resentment in his stomach and Jannik thinks he’s going to throw up.
Yet, he somehow drags himself to Alcaraz, congratulating him robotically. He can’t stand to look at him, the triumph on his face making Jannik feel angry. Furious, even. He grips Alcaraz’s hand tighter than he probably should, his knuckles whitening. The other man doesn’t wince, though. He only smirks at Jannik, victorious. “Great match”, Alcaraz says to him perfectly politely. But there is a malicious glint in his eyes, Jannik swears he sees it.

Summary
"Are you staying tomorrow?" Jannik asks as fireworks go off overhead, the stadium illuminated red and violet and gold. The adrenaline of the final is starting to fade, but enough remains for him to say: "If you are—tomorrow, we're going to the coast. If you want to go with us?"
Carlos leans closer, brow wrinkling slightly as he tries to hear over the noise. "Tomorrow? Go where?"
"There's a beach, a little north of here. It's very beautiful. They have jet skiing." Ba-boom. Brilliant fiery flowers spiral across the night sky. The explosions of smaller fireworks syncopate with the suddenly rapid beating of Jannik's own heart. "If you're still here tomorrow, do you want to go? With us?"
Colors in the sky reflect in the smiling eyes looking up at him. "Yeah, of course." Carlos sounds as happy as if he were the one holding the winner's trophy. "Let's go!"

His fingers skim past Carlos' shirt collar, undoing the buttons one by one. The white shirt slips over his shoulders, falling to the floor. Jannik's hands smooth over his chest and move downwards. The clink of the buckle, the whisper of leather through belt loops. Carlos closes his eyes. Time flows strangely, slow and thick. There's only the soft sound of breathing, cold air on bare skin as Jannik undresses him.
