Summary
Shouto, lonely and curious god of the underworld, eagerly welcomes a lost human in his realm. His visitor, Katsuki, is a crude and blunt man, who ends up in the darkest part of hell after he picks up a narcissus flower, despite knowing the possible consequences. Shouto rolled his eyes. “You sound like you wouldn’t like me to come here tonight,” he said. His expression got slightly serious as he was thinking about his next words. “I assumed you would be happier to see me.”
“I’m happy,” Katsuki replied hurriedly, and his eyes softened. “I’m always happy when I can see you.”
“But?”
“But I’m not sure if we should…” He paused in the middle of the sentence, sighing. “I’m not sure if you should see me so often.” Noticing silent offence in Shouto’s eyes, he alluded, “What about your husband?”
“I don’t have a husband,” Shouto replied without hesitation.
“I might not have been invited to the wedding ceremony,” Katsuki started, snorting in amusement, “but I’m sure it happened without any unnecessary disruptions.”

Maybe he shouldn’t have been offended by it, but Shouto’s stupid questions annoyed him every single time. He knew how to pull the fuckin’ trigger; he knew how not to leave either any evidence or witnesses. And he didn’t need some entitled bastard to check with him every few seconds, as if he were a clueless child.
Even if that entitled bastard was his boss. And boyfriend.

"Three," he says grudgingly as the green and gold firework fades from the sky. It's too damn hot out, even with the sun down, and there's too many people around, but Shouto had wanted to come and Katsuki wasn't in the habit of saying no to anything Shouto wanted to do that involved spending time together.
It hadn't been all bad. The food had been decent. More importantly, Shouto had held his hand for a good part of the evening and looked at him under the red and white flutter of his bangs in the breeze like Katsuki was everything he wanted.
Shouto tilts his head curiously. "That's the highest score you've given out this year."
