Jacobi took a shaky breath, his hands resting on Kepler’s now bare chest. “Yeah, just… can we— can we pretend like this is the first time?”
Kepler kissed behind his ear and swayed with him for a moment. “I would like that.
“What would you have said to me if you really had wanted to take me home in that bar when we met?” Jacobi murmured, hooking his fingers into Kepler’s waistband. “What would you have done?”
“Ah. Well I wouldn’t have taken you home from that bar on that day. It was 3pm and you were very drunk.”
“Okay, a different bar. Any bar.”
Kepler frowned slightly. “I don’t want you to be a stranger; I want you to be–... We can still make this the first time that counts.”AKA after the events of The Channel Fades to Snow, they figure out how to be together again.

“You sure this is okay?” Jacobi hesitated, clutching the duffle bag's strap. Sure, he’d been here a couple of times, but Kepler had been very clear ever since that first time: staying the night is an absolute no-no.
Kepler gave him a crooked smile. “A hotel isn’t safe enough. I've got a spare bed.”
Oh. Not sharing, then. “Great. Thanks.”
He dropped the bag on the floor, and swayed on his feet as a huge yawn overtook him. Somewhere to his side, Kepler chuckled and rested a warm, heavy hand on the back of his neck.
“We can set it up tomorrow. Let’s go to bed.”Six months after Kepler and Jacobi start sleeping together, someone leaves a bomb under Jacobi’s bed. Kepler offers him a place to stay while investigations are underway, but living with each other comes with its own challenges.

During the solar flares before the Contact Event, both Jacobi and Kepler are cloned. With no way to tell which are the clones and which the originals, they turn to the Tiamat Logs for guidance:
"They all think they're the original—they *always* think they're the original—but... no. Even though they all have the same memories, there's some slight differences. Shorter tempers, manic periods, that sort of thing. It's like each iteration brings out a different angle of the original person."
When one of the Jacobis and one of the Keplers end up having sex, the other two are left to watch the footage supplied by Hera, and to ponder whether this is proof of the expected personality drift, or simply two originals taking comfort in each other after a traumatic event...
