“So we’re here,” Lando points to the label on the map reading ‘Kawakawa bay’, “and we want to be…. where?” he trails off looking over at Carlos who was staring intently at the map.
“I think the lady said It was one bay over?”
Lando drops his head on the table. “Mate,” he exhales, forehead pressed to the wood “I cannot believe we are travelling to some random-as-fuck beach campsite because the lady in the supermarket line recommended it”
“She was a nice lady, Lando” Carlos chides, “old people know things.”
“Of course we’re trusting beach advice from an ancient stranger in the supermarket queue. That’s totally normal.”Or, the one where best friends Carlos and Lando travel to an isolated beach in New Zealand on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to cure Carlos’s quarter life crisis and maybe even find a bit of love along the way.

Daniel gets close again. Close enough to smell the sweat, and the too-many limes and maybe a hint of cologne. Maybe it’s still the fuel. Maybe it’s the mixing of both. Daniel presses a hand on Max’s shoulder, because he thinks he’s at least allowed to do that, because Simon had done it to him, and Christian too back in Montreal. So, it’s not like. Weird. Daniel doesn’t why it would even be in the first place. Right. Friends, teammates. It’s totally normal.
Totally fucking fine.
Daniel should probably know better than that, because he’s been through this before. Eight years ago. Eight years ago.
