His mother had joked that he sees interpersonal relationships through an Excel spreadsheet, except it's true, because even the cups and mugs in his cupboard have an Excel spreadsheet of their own, categorised by volume, because how else is he supposed to keep track of how much water he consumes and whether it is the recommended amount? Such is the knot these two have tied, godlike Diomedes and wily Odysseus, upon the golden thread they hold between them.
Then and only then are they righted in their place in the great Kósmos, between sand and stars and the tang of salt on the wind, hemmed in as they are by the Trojans, breakers of horses on one side and by the great sea and indeed the well-greaved Achaians on the other with their many beached black ships.

Summary
As soon as one odyssey ends, another begins, it seems, in a never-ending flow of trouble, but Kassandra's gotten used to that part. She will need allies, and she will make enemies, but she will not bow to Poseidon's whims anymore. She's done with piety; gods don't need to give one another the same reverence as mortals are obliged to.
The swift Adrestia takes a sharp turn over the waves, its reflection so much brighter than what light its lanterns give off--it's transporting the spear-wise Kassandra, master of the war cry.
Realising one's divine power is a taxing thing, but Kassandra in her determination pays little mind to it: no more, she's decided, not of cycles, not of rulings, not of this petty squabble between the two races, and definitely not the Isu's horrible experiments.

He stopped; he was not sure how to make himself any clearer, and the Saracen was not evidently interested in conveying anything other than his loathing. Nicolò waited, and after a long, uncomfortable moment, the Saracen finally responded. He spat an incomprehensible sentence in Arabic, heavy with disdain, and thrust his bound hands forward. A demand to be released? That would make sense. Nicolò hesitated.
“Do you understand me?” he pressed, repeating his gestures. “We are the same. We go together? Away from here? Both of us?”
The Saracen repeated also; his Arabic phrase, and the twisting of his wrists against their bindings. Nicolò nodded, and crouched before him.“I am going to free you,” he said. “Please help me.”
