"As much as Dennis was feeling a tad bereft at Robby’s absence since his departure for his sabbatical, a strange giddiness had gotten ahold of him. It was both freeing and scary to be left to his own devices — which wasn't even true, per se, but he was literally out of his attending’s grasping hands. The lack of touching on the daily wasn't nice, but it opened up the possibility for other things (or people) to touch him instead. "
Dennis turns his full attention to Doctor Abbot who quickly picks up on his interest. It gets too intense too quick, so Dennis gets a chance to fuck his adoration into Jack.

When Robby finally goes on sabbatical, Dennis is scheduled exclusively for nightshift. It’s inconvenient, at first, having to take the bus everywhere now that he was completely unaligned with Trinity, but then Dr. Abbot starts to offer to take him home. And then to breakfast before he takes him home. And then just to his own home to sleep instead of his apartment with Trinity. And then, the next thing Dennis realizes, when Abbot kisses him, is that he might be dating Dr. Abbot.

“I put in 1095, but it won’t turn off!” Dennis shrieks, trying to be heard over the sound of the alarm. He knows that he didn’t get the numbers wrong because he’s staring right at them on the crumpled sticky note. “What am I doing wrong?”
“Did you push the off button?”
Dennis looks at the keypad, not seeing anything that says Off. “What?!”
“Put the code in and push the pound sign after.”
Dennis does as he’s told, except, in his panic, he hits the asterisk instead. “Shit.”
“It’s the hashtag,” Robby says, sounding entirely put out.
“I know what a pound sign is,” Dennis grumbles, hitting the button and noticing the word Off in the smallest font known to man under the #.
