Summary
The intruder enters the kitchen slowly, limbs held low to the ground. Their carapace tilts from side to side as they draw near, fixing their auricles on me.
The xenosuit they have on looks cobbled together, almost experimental. It’s not see-through like my team’s suits are. It wasn’t designed with my light detectors in mind. Instead, it’s dark and opaque, and not at all helping to dispel the impression of a masked burglar in my home.
I’ve never seen that body language in person before, but I understand it on an instinctual level. Eridians are the apex predators of their planet. It’s a hunting stance, and I am the prey.

Something was standing above his towel.
No… someone.
They seemed to be observing the towel, claws tapping against the material with what he took as curiosity, pinching it between the appendage.
Was it Rocky? It’d make sense, the Eridian would certainly have something harsh to say about him leaving his stuff laying around. He always had some mean quip to insult his shoddy human memory.
He opened his mouth to defend himself before Rocky could say something snappy, when the figure then moved, stocky legs rising from beneath their carapace and lifting them to their full standing height.
They were tall. Too tall.
That wasn’t Rocky.

Grace receives an unexpected visitor one night in his home on Erid.

Summary
I'm alone, looking out of a few xenonite tiles that had chanced to be clear, and I notice something… off. I can see fewer stars than I usually can from this high up. There was a constellation I had traced out some days ago that reminded me of my home Solar System, from the size and brightness of the "sun" star to the dim little dwarf that I thought looked like Pluto. Now, the stars up to Jupiter were no longer visible. Another crackle strikes the air.
"Mɛn?"
I startle so hard that I almost fall over. On the far side of the room sit several command and communication control panels, the same ones Rocky had contacted to inform the Eridians of our arrival so many years ago. The noise that just came through was distinctly not Eridian. I creep closer. It sounds…
Human?
-I really wanted to explore what happened on Earth both during and after Project Hail Mary, especially regarding the ramifications of a cooling sun, resource loss, and the wars that almost certainly broke out as a result. What better way to do that than to throw some traumatized kids at our beloved Space Man?
