Summary
Formula one cars move at over 300 km/h. That means over 80 meters go by in a second; and that is the reason why drivers train their reflexes.
Oscar barely saw it coming his way, it came at him too suddenly, but that is no excuse, he trains his reflexes for a reason.
Later, reviewing the onboards and multiple track cameras, he’d learn that Max had swerved too close over the edge and displaced the debris. It bumped into the side of his car and the wind sent it flying backwards right onto Oscar’s path.
But that is at a later date, right now Oscar tries to swerve to avoid the mysterious object.
And he fails.

Max Verstappen is going through a rough patch as well. He seems to have beef with practically every Brit these days, especially George Russell, who appears to be having the time of his life provoking Max whenever he gets the chance.
