On Friday nights, Betty sits with Jughead in the projection booth of the Twilight Drive-in. Every time, she eats a box of Milk Duds that he swipes for her from the concession stand, happy to watch and listen while he rattles off a running commentary on why whichever blockbuster he’s being forced to play that week is actually a sign of the cinematic apocalypse.
This Friday night, though, she’s not sure she can make it through all of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 without telling him that she’s his soulmate.

Summary
Riverdale hasn't felt like home for Betty for a long, long time. Ever since she left for college, it's been somewhere she had to visit, rather than somewhere she wanted to. Her friends are long gone - not that she can really consider them friends anymore - and her family is... Well they're the Coopers. Enough said.
Begrudgingly home for the Christmas holidays, with the first time off work she's had all year, Betty decides to treat herself to a stay at a local Inn to give herself some respite from Cooper holiday dynamics.
It's a great plan - unfortunately a mix up with the bookings, means she's unexpectedly having to share a room with someone she never thought she'd see again.

Jughead rolled over, propping his head on his hand as she stared at her.
“What?” she asked quietly, her body becoming painfully aware of their proximity.
“I was just thinking about what you said earlier and I had a thought.”
“Did it get lonely?” she quipped.
“Smartass,” he deadpanned even as he smirked, “Seriously though, I was thinking about what you said earlier and if you wanna break your straight-laced image, what we're doing now is a good start but I know how to speed things along.”
“Oh, yeah? And what exactly do you suggest, oh mighty Serpent Prince?” Betty teased, feeling more confident.
“Well, you could take it a step further and date a Serpent.”
“I’m sorry, what?” Betty squeaked out, staring at him in shock. “And just who do you think is gonna wanna date me, huh?”
“Well, duh. Me, of course.”
“You-u...?” she stuttered, her body screaming at her to say yes, “Did-- Jughead, did you just ask me out?”
“In a sense, yeah,” he said with a smile, tracing his fingers along her arm.
“What’s that even supposed to mean?” she questioned, willingly her body to calm down.
“That means, you pretend to be my girlfriend.”

Summary
The first time she saw Forsythe Jones after seven years, he was smiling; the center of attention among a company of men and women eagerly hanging on his every word. Betty was standing at the other end of the room, but she might as well have been oceans away.
In their youth, Forsythe Jones, or Jughead, as he had insisted on being called then, had not been comfortable in the spotlight. When Betty first met him, he had been standing in Archie’s shadow, watching as though he was no more than a mere onlooker. Now, he was much changed.
