In the same day, approximately two weeks ago, Spencer met and lost the first person he truly considered his match. He loved her, and she may have known that, but he could not speak it into existence when he needed to. This morning he wakes and grapples with coming to terms with the true tragedy that is loss.

"Reid, Reid! Stay with us, come on," Spencer heard as the stars began to fade, and one last tear rolled down his cold skin before the eyes that once looked up in awe did not see at all.

8 years after Derek leaves the BAU, Spencer exists in the orbit of his life. Holding on to the peripherals, grateful for the snippets of him and his family that Derek is willing to share. He's not happy, but he's content. It's enough.

The profile is complex and mercurial, leaving the team without substantial evidence to work with.
