"The restroom has six stalls and four sinks, with checkerboard tiles. And it’s fully soundproof. The only indicator that there was a band playing was the slight vibration from outside of the walls. Simon gets in the stall furthest from the door, trying to calm his rapidfire heartbeat. He’s okay. He’s being fucking normal. And then he glances down at his hands as the toilet drains. His bare hands. His bare arms. With all of his tattoos and scars on display. How had he forgotten? How had it just come off so easy? Had he forgotten what it was like? For someone to see him and only see what Eden did? What’s he going to do if Ryland connects him to Eden?"
Ryland Grace had invited Simon to keep him company at the merch table for his friends' concerts. It goes better than he expects.

"Blowing all the air out of his system, he takes a full look around the room as he moves deeper into it. There’s the stage of course, all the way to the back of the room. And then lining one wall, is a bar and a walkway to the bathroom, with a half-wall and more stools in front of it. On the other side are the merch tables, only two with three people behind the table. Back on the stage, people were setting up the guitars and the drums and all the wires and it was busywork he hated that he recognized.
He also recognized that buzzing, nervous energy inside him. He wasn’t performing. He wasn’t going anywhere on stage. He was going to throw up."

He's a male human in his late twenties or early thirties. The blood, as he had guessed, wasn't his. The ship that was orbiting Erid had been a submarine, (they didn't have a word for submarine nor did they know it was man-made,) and it had neared closer and closer till one of the Eridians had seen it while testing a prototype telescope.
They cut it open and out the blood had spilled and out the man had come.
And that's as far as they know.

Grace has a soulmate, he knows this and before on Earth, he was okay with never meeting them. If it happened, it happened. But on Erid, after being forcefully sent to space to save his star with no choice in the matter, he admits to himself that he wasn't okay anymore, about it.
Sometimes, though, the universe listens and grants wishes every now and then. Even the ones unspoken.
Grace just has to hose this one down first.

“Why aren't you freaking out? Why are you so calm about this?” Buck wants to scream, he wants to rip up the perfectly green grass. Why is Eddie so calm?
“Because everything is going to be okay.” Eddie smiles at him, his eyes wrinkling and letting go of his elbow now but still reaching towards him. “Let's go for a walk.”
Alternatively; Buck gets into a car accident and his heart stops for a minute. In between the seconds the paramedics get his heart beating again, Buck has a chat with Death. He looks a lot like Eddie Diaz.

Summary
Set in the modern, normal universe with no astrophage, Simon spends most of his days puttering around and doing jack all after his life was upended by a sudden disbanding of the (rather infamous) death metal band he was part of. After encouragement from his co-workers, Simon attends the first concert he's been to in years. As a result, Simon is immediately enamored by this blond guy working the merch table.
