Summary
For as long as Jill has been able to tilt her head to the sky and understand the large swath of the universe above her, she’s always been fixated on one part in particular. A distant, red light just to the left of the moon, observant and steadfast as the world turns on its axis. As a child it was her wishing star, a firm constant to pour her thoughts and feelings into. Her love of the universe and space could only expand so much until her twelfth birthday, that came with a telescope and a large, hardback National Geographic textbook to pour over. Suddenly her wishing star became Metia, a red supergiant, the shoulder of the constellation Shiva, the focus of all her years of research, the subject of her PhD, and the reason she can call herself a leading expert in the field of supergiants and the life cycle of stars.

“Let me finish.” Sokka sighed heavily. He knew the extent of Aang’s feelings for his sister. They had talked about it at length one night in Ba Sing Se, back when he and Katara still weren’t sure how to act around each other, and Sokka had gotten suspicious. He knew how much he loved her, and despite her never saying anything to Sokka, he knew that Katara loved Aang just as much. Which made what he said next that much harder. “Like I said, it’s about you in kind of a roundabout way. What the root of it is, is Katara getting married.” Sokka let his words hang there for a second, watching Aang’s face go from confusion to realization to shock in under two seconds.

Aang and Katara didn't kiss or get together after the events in Sozin's Comet. Now eight years later, and after quite a bit of time spent apart, the two are brought back to the Fire Lord's Palace for Zuko's birthday party. Some awkwardness and feelings need to be confronted, but of course Aang and Katara fall for each other. They already have. Smut in final 2 chapters.

The prince who used to care so much about returning home that he would go from one end of the globe to the other and back around more times than Aang would like to estimate, now cares nothing for the man who sent him away. The kid in the oversized helmet with the silly ponytail telling Aang he would take his staff and gift it to his father? That kid is gone. He grew up.
